The ladder adds a nice touch for stealth. They will think you are a handyman! John Rambo the dog, sits on the doghouse! All you need is an entrance. You have done a lot of work in this van, impressive! A serious amount of construction. Very nicely done. I like your pallet wood wall. I did the same for my RV. I used a Dewalt 20V Sawzall with a metal blade to cut right thru the pallet wood and salvaged a lot of it. Also made some wine racks/ book racks out of the pallets. What a beautiful walnut countertop!! Lucky you, finding this. You pay a fortune for this in CA, no walnut trees around. I would not use this as a cutting board, you will ruin it! Get a thin bamboo one instead. For the shower, if you replace that straight rod with Extend-A-Shower, you can get more elbow room inside. Nice trick. It pushes out for showering, and pushes in for hanging wet clothes or keeping curtain out of the way. On the diesel heater, just so you know, several KZbinrs bought the cheap $200 versions on Amazon, and had great success. The alternatives are Webasto, Espar, Trumi and they all cost $2K - $4K range! Try the Chinese one. Comes with a flat diesel tank as well. Great job, Kaza! You have a lovely home and I admire your DIY skills. Bon Voyage! If you are in the Santa Clara, CA area, do look me up.

For the wooden pallet portion, for anyone who doesn’t know. Wooden pallets some are treated with chemicals to keep bugs from getting inside the wood. Obviously those very same chemicals emit toxic fumes. Select pallets that have not been treated or that are same for indoor use.

Ask Caza if he parked his step van in the middle of a Home Depot parking lot in Tampa, Florida this year in 2020 or last year in 2019. Been several months but I thought I saw his step van with windows and the side ladder and stuff on the back at Home Depot or it could of been different one similar to his setup. I do remember seeing the chimney stack sticking out the roof. I was admiring the step van and thinking how cool it was.

I love the potential of a step van and really like his layout. Something he might consider, which will improve his stealth as well as market his business would be to put up a vinyl sticker or a wrap or paint a nice business logo, advert with the actual phone number on the side. If people see the ad, they are in the same area and it could really give him some solid work. Just saying. I don’t know where he is or I would volunteer to help with that.

Nice build out!!! As for the grey water freezing issue, there are self adhesive silicone heater pads that you can buy for this issue. A friend of mine also took the initiative to buy some 1/2" soft copper pipe and created a serpentine flat coil which he glued to the bottom of the grey tank. This coil is connected to the radiator and heater system to the truck and he can start it up and let it idle to warm up the engine and tank. He also has plans in buying a Webasto dual use heater that heats hot water and air. It would allow him to isolate the grey heater from the engine completely. It has an initial high cost but will save in diesel fuel in the long run. Take care and stay safe Seven!

That ladder is an invitation to a thief. A toilet that only handles urine? Losing the overhead door was a good idea, as was the fan over the cooking area. I could see the drawers not being covered by the counter catching dirt and debris. I'm considering a step van conversion myself, but my grey water will be inside just for that reason - I don't want the water to freeze.
