William Henry Seward was Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of if state. He is responsible for negotiating America’s purchase of Alaska for $7.2 million in 1867 under the Johnson administration. He was harshly criticized for the purchase giving Alaska the nickname of “Seward’s folly.” Little did anyone know Alaska would be so rich in resources.

In a Subaru, the road unfolds, A nomad’s tale in lands so bold, Alaska calls, the mountains rise, Beneath the vast, uncharted skies. A solitary soul adrift, Where glaciers gleam and forests shift, In silence finds a quiet grace, In nature’s wild, a sacred place. Auroras dance in midnight’s veil, As whispers of the wild prevail, The tundra’s hush, the river’s song, A world where they alone belong. In icy streams and ancient pines, A wanderer of heart and mind, Each moment, every winding bend, A journey where the soul transcends. Through snowy pass and coastal rain, In solitude, they break the chain, Of noise and rush, of crowded streets, In Alaska’s heart, the soul completes.

Hey Nomi. I was fortunate enough to have a son living in Alaska for 10 years. My first grandchild was born there. I have been there several times.
