Such a great idea. I'm replacing all the useless ornamentals in my garden with about 20 coffee bushes. Old cardboard boxes are great to keep the grass from overtaking your new plants. Cheap and enviro friendly.

You have rich volcanic soil, the expertise of Arturo, the energy and farming knowledge of Rodrigo and Eberto, and of course the whole fam and community online. Congratulations!!! That terroir, and your set up, is going to nurture your organic plants so well. You answered my question: When you bought the land for Lola's Farm, if you already knew you wanted to eventually create a coffee farm. This is so cool! When I was a little girl, my grandfather ran dye factories in Puerto Rico and they lived up in the mountains and had a huge Finca with bananas and coffee. I remember loving that forest, which was magical. You are creating a magic coffee forest for Sadie! Super love it!

SO AWESOME😍!!! I'm so happy for you guys, this is just the most perfect and natural thing ever for ya'll, it feels like 😀. But on another related note, since you bring up "living off the coffee itself" - YES!!! The extra mineral & vitamin profile from coffee fruit is really nice, and it makes a WONDERFUL FLOUR for baked goods! I had a dessert made with coffee fruit flour a few years ago - forget where I got it - and it was the most rich, dense yet fluffy & moist cake I ever had! Apparently the flour retains moisture better/more then other flours, so to bake with it is a bit tricky at first... I think (I was considering buying a lot as an additional gluten free flour to have on hand) you have to 'cut it' with other grain flours for anything 'savory'. I bet the pancakes would be amazeballz, though... Oooo, and the JAMS you could make with them, too! Lots of fun possibilities! Wishing your lovely family much abundance and very deep rooted coffee trees 😉💖

Hello, I am here with my family in Ecuador. 3 kids 15 mo. to 15 years old. We have over 8000 coffee plants. National, Mejorada, Catamori, and Caturra roja. The Caturra does not develop well at this altitude, 2200 meters. We had our first beans appear on the plants this year. Next year should be our 1st harvest!!
