Happy 50 th Anniversary Rolling Stones
Lyrics:
Yes, star crossed in pleasure the stream flows on by
Yes, as we're sated in leisure, we watch it fly yeh
And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me
And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me
Time can tear down a building or destroy a woman's face
Hours are like diamonds, don't let them waste
Time waits for one, no favours has he
Time waits for one, and he wont wait for me, yeh
Men, they build towers to the passing yes, to their fame everlasting
Here he comes chopping and reaping, hear him laugh at their cheating
And time waits for no man, and it won't wait for me
Yes, time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me
Drink in your summer, gather your corn
The dreams of the night time will vanish by dawn
And time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me
Time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me
No no no, not for me
nooo not for me.....

This is one of the greatest, possibly most underrated, rock songs of all-time, and the best "slow" rock solo in guitar rock history...for sure in the Stones' amazing catalogue (IMHO). Beautiful and haunting, Mick Taylor teases you with a few lines after that first verse as a preview to the soaring, majestic, very emotive solo that begins around 3:22. Epic...RIP Charlie Watts.

Mick Taylor at his best and in his prime. One of the few guitarrists, who feels and understands what music is. It is a pity that we can hear and admire him so seldom directly and or in the net. But it is probably the destiny of a genius who cannot be seen and enjoyd by everyone and everywhere. Having been a member of of John Mayall's band and of the Stones and having worked together with Jack Bruce he has become an eternal icon of blues. We can hope that he will be active in the blues scene many years ahead.

I’ve always felt Mick Taylor had been listening to the early ‘70s era Carlos Santana at this point. His solo has a lot more than a passing resemblance to Carlos’ playing on the Caravanserai album. “Song Of The Wind” seems like it was a template for Mick’s solo here. And it fits the song like a glove. All good! This one’s for you, Charlie. RIP, 8/24/21

Funny, I think it's very much a coincidence that the Stones did their best work then, as they were peaking as songwriters, as many bands do around the seven-year mark. I love Mick Taylor, but Clapton or any talented blues-rock guitarist would've brought similar qualities to the Stones. Also, Beggar's Banquet and Let It Bleed were both written and recorded with minimal to no involvement of Taylor, who's not at all on BB, and plays minor parts on two songs on LIB.

"This song wasn't going anywhere until this cat named Mick grabbed an extra guitar on the floor and started strumming. I feel lucky to have the same name as him."--- Mick Jagger

Mick Taylor's work is unique and elegant. From his impeccable musicianship to the variety he brought to their sound, his was an invaluable contribution to the Stones during his time with them. Unlike Ronnie Wood, however, Mick Taylor was, like Billy Preston and other notable musicians, more of "special guest Stone," (at least to my mind) and I felt that way from the day of the announcement he had joined the band, that he was really taking Brian's place (as a "lead guitar" counterpoint to Keith) until they could find the perfect man for that job, and I believe they did. I give you, Ronnie Wood.... I hope my poor ability with the Word does not lead anyone to feel as if I have anything but great love, respect and admiration for Taylor as musician and especially as a guitarist. I didn't get to see the Stones play with him, but the recorded work he did with them will always stand apart as an incredibly prolific era of excellence in the guitar work in their songs collectively, and in his individual contribution to their sound.

He was the perfect, super-tasty foil for Keith's roughhouse riffing. Ronnie's a =fine= guitarist, but considering what he accomplished with Rod, he was wasted in the Stones. (He and Keith got on well, however; something no other guitarists ever did with KR.)

Ronnie is a GREAT guitarist and has been (almost) completely wasted in the Stones. Sad. I like Hey Negrita. Some Girls had moments. Emotional Rescue as well. But... not the same credibility as 1969 to 1974. They were top of the game.

Ronnie is a great guitarrist, real great but the problem is that Mick Taylor is the guitarrist of guitarrists

If you listen carefully, one can feel a lifespan in this song.....from birth, to teen, then college, career, old age and inevitably death......with the heartbeat slowly going to zero.

This was when the stones were still writing music born of wonder. "Hours are like diamonds" and brilliant guitar work by Mick Taylor.... one of my all time favorites.. A college constant....

Mick Taylor's guitar playing on this song is just breathtaking (it always was)---but especially this one. MJ said his musicianship transformed the band and I'm certainly not going to disagree w that!

For me, this is one of the Stones greatest tracks. Love the Latin-infused guitar style by Mick Taylor. The percussion blends in well as do the rest of the band.
