Turn your children on to this song and The Rolling Stones. We lived in the golden age of Music for about three decades, back when musicians actually played music, wrote their own songs and worked long hard hours to perfect their craft. Songs like this are no fluke. Spread the word of underrated gems like this, Moonlight Mile" and "Shine A Light.". We still hear you, Mick Taylor.

The legend is far greater than the truth. Ronnie Wood was ,perfect fit like s hand and glove, in personality and he and Kieth Richards weave in and out together. You know Mick Taylor was only with the Stones only a few years in the seventies ,Ronnie had been with them 45 years, good grief Taylor fans get over it.as a final note Mick Jagger didn't want him to leave and tried to talk him out of quitting,that's pretty humble for Mick Jagger, Taylor had only himself to blame for screwing up his life,I don't even feel sorry for him he passed on a one in a million opportunity for immortality.

There is no doubt he got ripped off by both of them. He was an easy target for them. He was peaceful. Richards alone could be such an ass. Add some alcohol and Jagger to the mix and it is easy to see the two of them intimidating and abusing Mr. Taylor. People today tend to forget ''Street Fighting Man'' and the rough and tumble image the Stones worked hard at weaving. That is until Altamont. And over the years people change and grow. Or they die. Even Keith and Mick.

@@bryanhay2356mm, Ronnie Wood, does that name strike a chord..?
@Viajealduende5 жыл бұрын
@@bryanhay2356 No Mick Taylor wasn't ever the Stones he was a guest player who was there during the pinnacle of the Jagger/Richards writing team. They were always the meat of the Stones if you knew the facts and not the bullshit. Satisfaction in 1965 had 0 contribution by Brian Jones. The last time he played the lead guitar on but didn't wirte the song and "As Tears gos By" Jagger/Richards first compostition was given to Marianne Faithful and a hit in 1964. No Brian Jones influence, not to say that Brian didn't contribute or sort of form the band but that's another story I'm sick of writing about. Carrying on, as an example of what many consider to be the "Taylor years" were actually the best of the Jagger/Richards years. During the recording of Beggars Banquet Brian was fading fast. Let it Bleed arguably their best LP was done without Brian or Mick Taylor, Sticky fingers and Exile had more Mick Taylor contribution, playing nice solos in their spot. You know who else did that very well and was nearly if not equally as important to the Stones during that period? Bobby Keys on sax. Jimmy Miller the producer and Nicky Hopkins on piano. The most famous guitar riff from that so called "Taylor years" period actually came from Mick Jagger, that's right! Not Mick Taylor nor keith. Jagger wrote the guitar chords to Brown Sugar. Ry Cooder played the slide guitar on Sister morphine. Taylor claimed to have had deserved some cowriting credit on Sway and Moonlight mile, maybe? But that's about it and he even acknowledged that they were still more Jagger compositions that he added to. ??? Taylor nor Jones were really ever the creative driving force behind the Rolling Stones. They added to oranamentation and were very good at that but neither were song writers. No Jagger/Richards songs, No Rollling Stones.Brian Jones gone, Rolling Stone got bigger, Mick Taylor gone The Rolling Stones kept right rolling. The only problem with the Stones is when Mick and keith had their problems with one another a lot to do with Keith's heroin habit and they still held together as great band, just not quite as great. What 1960's band did stay as great in to the 70' and 80's? None.

My brother bought this album when it came out, and we loved it right out of the gate. Angie was the AM hit at the time, but that song pales in comparison to the rest of this gem. There are absolutely NO weak songs on it. Taylor's guitar playing is at its absolute best here, and on 100 years ago, Silver Train, Heartbreaker, etc. As others have stated, I'd take this and Sticky Fingers as my top two dessert island Stones LPs. So anyway, fast forward about a year to 1974. I stopped by my friend's house and he showed me his older brother's collection of 8 track tapes, which included this one. As I recall, it was encased in pink plastic. I told him I'd trade anything for it, and after thinking about it, he said, 'would you give me that mid-60s 'Bob Clemente' baseball card? I said hell yeah!, not realizing it was actually 'Roberto' Clemente! We kept up that baseball card for big brother's 8 tracks swap for a few weeks until finally he got caught and took a beating from his brother for it. But by then, the damage was done and my 8 track collection was looking mighty sweet! Looking back, I think this is still the best trade either of us have ever made.

Every version of the Stones is different. Brian brought not only the pretty boy looks, until he got too stoned to function and lost them a bit. Brian was a bluesman who had already been around a while before Mick and Keith met him. Add to that he could play anything with in a few minutes of picking it up. Mick Taylor brought a sweeter more defined lead guitar soloist to the band, Keith has always said they rhythm is his thing and Mick Taylor arriving coincides with a period when the lead guitarist was king. He was perfect for that period of time. Ronnie arrived when music itself was heading backwards towards basic rock and roll, punk was just around the corner, funk was ruliing a lot of the charts, lead guitarists were two a penny and the Stones were getting out of touch. I loved that they took Mick Taylor out on the road with them but it was as much to do with the fact he was close to being broke as anything else. I hated that he only played a couple of numbers but I love the video of him owning the stage behind Jagger much to Ronnie's amusement, even if they do have to rein him in a bit.

How can you not cry?? Theres such a beautiful sadness to this song...it really takes you away!!! Most/All stones songs always pumped me up...gave me good energy...feels good!!!...winter...makes me slow-down,get quiet, and let the lyrics hit me!!! (And heres craziest part of all... the stones recorded that song in Jamaica... in the summertime heat... and Keiths not on it... Keith never showed up for the recording..)

Mick Taylor was with the Rolling Stones from 1969- 1974, many younger RS fans may not be as familiar with his history and contributions. He is considered the greatest Rolling Stones guitarist. A true abstract impressionist. This is a thing of beauty !

Having snow on the ground on April 13th, here in Minnesota made me want to hear one of my favorite Stones songs from my high school days. Might as well indulge in that deep blue melancholy vibe that Minnesota winters are so good for. I'd never heard Mick Taylor's extended solo before. Majestic!

This Version would be so Awesome to hear while shooting Amazing Heroin and laying in a cold, snowy alleyway contemplating an exit from all the pain in this life and reminiscing on the thing that used to be good before everything goes black!!

might feel even better if you were walking home from a job you hate, to a house you hate, on a night filled with disappointment and loneliness, working hard saving your pennies toward a fruitful spring/summer. I've been in your shoes before Arthur, and I've walked that path. One day your going to have to grow up. stick to puffing weed or sipping drinks. If that is your attitude towards hard drugs than may mercy find you well, because you will be needing it. letting disappointment encapsulate you and warp your perception, you soon may be finding it define you. best case scenario you will realize this fault in the years that follow. cheers.
