I am still a bit confused about the 183 form. I have setup an account with ECFMG and gone through the notary cam process. My school is currently listed in the WDOMS but in the process of applying for recognition. My understanding is, in order to get "grandfathered" in after 2024, I should get ECFMG certification started. What exactly all do I have left to do? I am currently still in medical school. Do I have to have my school submit the Form 183 now in order to be "grandfathered " in or is this done later when I apply for step 1? Thank you!

At this point, I would say apply for the ID and then apply for the ECFMG certification that includes notarycam. Form 183 is application, once you apply for the steps exam and a graduate.

I am Ecfmg certified. Is it possible to send the form 183 and credentials i.e medical diploma and transcripts separately from med school to ecfmg? And can my medical school also send my medical diploma and transcripts while I'm only Ecfmg certified, I haven't started the step1 or 2 application yet.

Great video, If I complete the process of payment for application of step 1 exam fee & do form 183 two months after exam application fee payment will that be possible? I mean a gap of 2 months between applying for exam , payment & form 183.

No, there will be no problem, however, keep in mind that you have to choose an eligibility period when you are planning to appear for the exam(3 months period) that you will lose. Although the next three months will be automatically provided to you. I would say if you are sure there will be a gap of 2 months, why do not you apply after two months?

I would like to inquire about something. If there is a very slight difference between my name on my account in ECFMG and the passport, the difference is very simple (I replaced the letter E in the middle name with the letter A). Will this pose a problem for me to proceed with completing the registration? Note that now I have not done the lotary cam interview Thanks alot

I finished my notarycam , but i am quite worried about my graduation, i started my medical school on 2012 , due to failure of one national exam on 2018 , i can give only on 2019 , so i flied to india but after on 2019 my visa got rejected , 2020 pandemic and visa got rejected and on 2021 i got my visa and infinished my national exam to get ky diploma of graduation ( i never repeated any years) , it will be a problem for getting ecfmg registration? I finished my medical school in 9 years duration

Hello, unfortunately, you can not appear without the full verification of all documents including form 183, medical degree and transcript.

Generally, ECFMG takes 2 weeks to process the form 183 after receiving it from medical school, I am hearing it is taking more time nowadays to process. I would encourage you to wait. Hope it helps.

You can not be ECFMG certified unless appearing in Step 1 and Step 2 CK exams, however, you can apply for the ECFMG certification now and appear in the exams later.

That is fine. I would encourage you to select June, July, and August as eligibility periods, as June would be the earliest you can appear in.

I greatly appreciate your comment. Unfortunately, I do not have a clear answer regarding US visa, however, you should do electives on a visit visa, Other visa types are J1, and H1 for the residency training.
