"Elsa" is the Ice Empress of Kislev (Wathammer equivalent of Russia), and "Mulan" is Daughter of the Dragon Emperor of Cathay (equivalent to China). These two countries don't really interact with each other, because they are separated by massive mountain ranges and wildlands overrun with beasts and Chaos

And Warhammer's version Russia, Kislev, isn't as large as our Russia. It's around the size of Poland where Belarus is. Cathay is quite large. If you google "Warhammer World Map," it's easier to see. It's also not really known how large the Warhammer world is compared to ours. Some sources list the two planets being the same size, others as the Warhammer world as being anywhere from 1.5 times larger to being twice as big.

You also have Kingdom of Brettonia as France. Also you have Isles of Albion as England. And Vampire Counties are effectively Romania and Hungary

4:40 The timing of the cannon fire with the beat is so, so, so satisfying I adore it. The Total War Warhammer trailers tend to be enjoyable but the vast majority of them use in game graphics, being that it's a tactics game with thousands of units on screen at once it can mean that some of the more basic units are not overly detailed and can look a little janky in these videos. So when you compare them to the quality other game cinematics put out you might not always be blown away. But that Vampire Coasts one is by far and away the best for the humour, the tune and that cannon syncing =D Also who doesn't like giant walking pirate ships with flame throwers and rotating multi barrel cannonades for arms.

they're criminally underrated. Some of the most fun I've had in the series as a faction. Having played Cathay and Kislev, I have to say I'm not as happy about their mechanics. Cathay's balance mechanic is exceptionally irritating to balance. Kislev's is... honestly fine? It's just that their flexible troop options don't do them any favors in the Ursun's Roar campaign. Meanwhile, playing the various chaos factions is remarkably fun.

So Elsa and Mulan are leaders of this worlds version of Eastern European and China. These two countries form the defensive block against the invasion of Chaos into the Mortal relms. And then the vampire pirate Luthor Harkon is looking for different pieces of this Lizardman treasure as its the only thing that can heal his mind and make it whole again after having it splintered. Which is what his campaign in the game would be about.

Both "Elsa" (Real name Empress Katrin) and the Dragon-lady, whose name is Miao Ying FYI, are ideologically allied in that they both are fighting to maintain Order vs the literal forces of Chaos. However, they begin at opposing sides of the map with large tracks of land and literal hordes of enemies between them. Warhammer factions are mostly divided into four primary groups: Order, Chaos, Death, and Destruction. The Sigmarite Empire (expy of the HRE), Bretonnia (Arthurian Legends), Dwarves, High Elves (Atlanteans mixed with post BE commonwealth), Lizardmen (Lizard Mesoamericans who ride dinosaurs), Kislev (Eastern Europeans), Wood Elves (Treemen with an army of Legolases), and Cathay (an old name for China) are all Order aligned, however, they may disagree what "Order" means. The Daemons of Chaos (Negative Thoughts given physical form), Warriors of Chaos (Worshippers of said Daemons/gods), Beastmen (Centaurs, Minotaurs, Fauns/Satyrs, etc.), Norscans (Vikings), Skaven (Sadistic Ratmen), Chaos Dwarves (Dwarves who worship a minor god of fire and tyranny) all are nominally allied as Chaos, with no consenus required. The Undead factions (Vampire Counts [Bram Stocker's Dracula/Hammer Horror], Tomb Kings [The Mummy], and Vampire Coast [Curse of the Black Pearl]) are treated like they are allied by those outside the group but are actually divided. The Greenskins, Ogrekingdoms, and retconned Dark Elves are all considered Destruction and are not consistently aligned.

Vampires in Warhammer world are necromancers, meaning they are masters of dead. Dragon girl and Elsa fit in together, cuz theyre from different parts of th world. Elsa from Kislev(Slavic,Russian) and Miao Ing is from Cathay(China). Also Miao Ing is a dragon.. Girls are fighting daemons of chaos(same ones Bricky told you about). Tsarina Katharin fights Khorne, Miao Ing fights Tzeentch. And also all 3 games happens in the same universe, but they are separate from Warhammer 40000. The warhammer 2 video you watched was one of the trailers made for that games dlc's. There is a bunch of them, most of which are based around a thematic rivalry from the warhammer fantasy setting. Some fun ones that come to mind are the warlock and the prophet, the warden and the paunch, the rise of the tomb kings, and the silence and the furry. But all in all there's like 13 or so trailers between total war warhammer 1 & 2

It could actually be used to describe a large array of "punk" settings. Schizopunk is probably what she's referring to though, as that's literally a setting where the technological development is nonsensical. Steampunk, Dieselpunk, dungeonpunk, and others are settings where the technology tends to be locked to a specific historical classification, and simply min-maxed so that technological era can emulate elements of modern technology.

The vampire coast was one of the best trailers for Total War. If you’re getting back into 40k you might like the Tau Empire, they’re the only “friends instead” faction in the game. I would assume they end up on the same side eventually since they revealed the story for the campaign. Ursan (the bear god of Kislev) has been killed by a champion of chaos and his soul is being tortured by the chaos gods. Katerin (Elsa) is trying to restore him since she wants her god back while Miao Ying (Mulan) also wants Ursan back since he knows where her missing sister is.

One of the aspects I really love about these “cinematic trailers” is the fact there in game using the assets from the game instead of being CGI for example. A lot of games do this but for Total Wars It’s really impressive as this is a series where you’ll have 2000+ soldiers on a screen at a time it’s all about commanding armies ranging in size so to have this amount of detail for the character models and landscapes is groundbreaking a couple years ago games like this would sacrifice texture quality so the game could handle these massive battles with most not letting you zoom too close to the characters. But with But with Total War While playing the game you can zoom close into the action and see characters fighting with their own animations and characters designs (the very early games have a much smaller range of character models, pretty much The Clone Wars twin brothers fighting side to side lol) each game it improves. But yeah I adore Total War sometimes it’s fun just to put the game in slow motion and watch with the UI turned looks like a movie.

Total war warhammer (1,2 and 3) is basically a big game of risk set in the universe of warhammer(I know it's a big simplification but shush). When you launch a campaign in this game you start by choosing a faction and a legendary lord for that faction. Each lord has different objectives in solo campaign, start in a different place of the map, have specific mechanics and regiments tied to their race (or lords) and will interact with different allies or enemies to fullfill their goals. Some wants to reclaim their home, some have a passive with certain races and want to eradicate them, some want to heal the forests of the world or bring chaos upon the lands, etc, etc. Mulan and Elsa doesn't really interacts with one another (i mean technically you could but you probably wont) because they live in separated parts of the maps, and their respective objectives will probably not make their pass cross. As for those trailer, the confusion probably stems from the way they are presented : The tree total war games are fully compatible and players of the first game can totally make a coop campaign with someone that only own the third game, but they wont have access to the same factions and lords. As such most of the trailers are designed more of an avant-goût of what you might expect gameplay wise showing the specificities and differents units of the new factions (giant ice bears, infantery, hermit crab leviathans, ghouls and such...) than an actual story driven trailer. Also, RTS games are often more suited to stories about epic battles of good vs evil (or evil vs good depending one your faction) than interactions between a small set of characters (but there is a vampire couple in this game ^^).

If you want the basic gist of what this game series is, imagine high fantasy medieval earth being invaded by hell. Empire is fantasy Germany, Brentonnia is fantasy France, Kislev is fantasy Russia, Cathay is fantasy China, Vamp Coast is Disney-X pirates of the Caribbean etc. The whole game is about building your empire led by one of your country’s greatest heroes and then defend the world from demons or conquer it alongside them. Also that’s who the main characters that these trailers focus on are, they are the heroes of the respective countries being shown, not necessarily the country leader but the hero you play with

Known for having hunted across the region known as the New World for artifacts belonging to the lizardmen faction as a means to increase his own power, Harkon's lust for might eventually caught up with him, fraying his mind and splitting him into many different personalities, trapped in one body. In addition, there are in-game cinematics when you play your campaign, and that cinematics combined creates not a bad stories actually. Kislev and Cathay in the game should be on good terms with each other but it’s up to the player to decide that. But basically it’s non chaos vs chaos. Kislev and Cathay are non chaos aligned and they’d rather not be killed and stuff by Chaos. It’s happening all over the map these kinds of battles. It’s called Total War for a reason. It’s gonna be loaded with stuff and lots of fighting.

If I may offer a suggestion for looking into future total war trailers, I'd highly recommend really anything from Three Kingdoms (though I'm partial to the Mandate of Heaven DLC and the trailer for Sun Jian), as for Warhammer Total War specifically I'd say the Ogre trailer is amazing, the announcement for Warhammer 3 ain't half bad, and my favorite trailer for any piece of media, let alone game, the trailer for Bretonnia from Warhammer 1 Total War.

The warhammer setting is a full world, mirroring ours, with many different cultures and whole continents with their own problems and magics and so on. There are more classical tropes of fantasy like Orcs, Elves, Knights, Dwarfs and so on in what could be placed in the settings EUROPE, but there are somewhat of a south america inspired continent, with astec themed Lizard people and European explorers & Vampire pirates, there are asian part of the world, with Cathay and so on. Also The Vampire captain, his mind is "BROKEN" into parts, split personality disorder, inwoked by ancient lizardmen (astec themed) trinkets that he stole, he's now trying to recover his sanity.

The first one: yeah, the Vampire Coast DLC takes the lords of undeath (Vampires and their zombi and skelaton hoards plus or minus a few themed monsters here and there) and adds Pirates of the Caribbean to it. As for the other, Warhammer's vertion of China FINALY gets an official army roster, and of course they are lead by dragons in human form.

You probably won't see this, but I will still say that all the diverse characters from TW: Warhammer fit into the same world (if you count all the Daemons as well), and you can look at it like a map of our world (that's what it's based upon), and all the different cultures that existed back in the day. So, for example - the Storm Dragon (Mulan, I guess :D) is from the equivalent of ancient China, while Katarin (or Elsa) is from the equivalent of imperial Russia. Of course, the Vampire Coast is a bit random, but they're essentially the Golden Age pirates with an undead twist, while the people of the Empire (the normal humans) are based on the Germans.

The lady in the Cathay trailer is Miao Ying, a dragon who rules parts of Cathay, usually in a human form. I always really love watching her transform into her dragon form. The idea of a society that is not only ruled by people who are supernaturally powerful, but people who are such a different species is just weirdly cool to me. If there is anything I dislike, its that the dragons even have human forms in the game. Sure, they might use human forms to chill out and rule the people or whatever, but there shouldn't be any reason for them to bother with such a limiting form when in battle. The dragon form is supposed to actually be their natural form, so it doesn't make sense for it to be limited, if anything should be limited it would be their ability to hold human form, since that's the false form. But there is almost nothing that have a convincing reason why it would work better in human form, as far as war is concerned. So whilst restricting the dragon from seems ridiculous, if it's not restricted, you have to somehow force some kind of balance between it and the human form, which I just don't buy that there is any good immersive reason for. So honestly, I'll probably look for some mod that just removes the human forms from the game and simply embraces the idea that they're dragons, and there should be no reason for them to hold that. rather than forcing some contrived reason to make me want to put them in human form. Let the dragons be dragons.

You look very confused, so here is a Trailer resumé: Vampire Coast: A psycho vampire who can use necromancy (like every vampire) and decide to make a pirate crew with it. He really want the slanns treasures (Lizardmen civilisation) and raid every cities with one inside. Cathay: The daughter of the dragon emperor manage like her 7 others brothers and sisters 1 province of the human country of Grand Cathay, which is a human empire ruled by littérals dragons (the emperor and his descendance). Miao Ying is the eldest daughter and have the responsibility of the Northen province and the great bastion, a giant wall who protect Cathay of the desolations of Chaos (lands corrupted by 4 evil gods). She fight Kairos Fateweaver, a major deamon of Tzeentch, with 2 heads. 1 head can see the past, the other can see the future, but he's blind to the present.

Necrarchs are known for having the largest number of sorcerers in their ranks, while the Strigoi sometimes are little more than rabid animals. Blood Knights' and Varghulfs' only magic are their powers that come from being a vampire. They are unable to cast spells or call upon the winds of magic at all.

Elsa?... Well Katarina is the Tzarina (Queen) of Kislev, one of the strongest kingdoms of the men kind, the first defense against the chaos for the old world (Europe). Shes the is the greatest master of the lore of Ice, and she s the leader of the Ice court. Her bloodline is one with the founder God of Kislev, Ursun, the Bear God. Elsa is thecnicaly ruler of 1 city and she even doesn't know how much strong she is (she's strong as a normal icemaiden of the Ice court...)

hannah you should really really watch/react baldermorts video on the "night lord" space marines, like you hes a story teller although its not his story he reads it so well he will send a shiver down your spine. thats a great 40k lore cvideo to watch,. in regards to books, i would say you need to read the eisenhorn trilogy, its a series of 3 sets of 3 books, the first being eisenhorn trilogy, then the ravoner trilogy then the bequin trilogy (only two books of the three released) its three trilogies but its all one set as the story follows on in each. or failing that for gruesome read any book about fabius bile. lol. they are the most popular books and conentrate on the inquisiters, and eisenhorn is being made int oa tv show

so, apparently, Kislev and Cathay are in an alliance, to invade the Chaos Wastes. a source of evil, demons, and monsters, because the God of Kislev was somehow captured, and is Dying. Cathay needs to find Him, Because He knows where the Matriarch's Younger Sister is.

Before the third game Cathay had only been given small references in the lore as a faraway kingdom that filled some space on the world map. Everything you see here is the first time they've ever been flushed out,

This "setting" is one whole ass world. Like actually a planet. A lot of the different people's and factions are based on real world equivalents. For example, "Elsa" the ice queen is Warhammers Russia. And they are located on the map in a very northern area. The dragon lady is one of the leaders of Warhammers factions that is meant to be similar to China. Every Warhammer trailer you see and every faction you see all live in the same world in the same time period, just spread out across the planet. The vampire pirate guy is located near Lustria, which is the equivalent of south America. Elsa leads Kislev which is located using modern geology where Russia would be. And "Mulan" helps lead alongside her brother the country of Grand Cathay, which is heavily inspired by historical China and is located as such Side note, since you spoke about the technological lvl of the civilization, Grand Cathay is actually the most advanced human civilization in Warhammer. Like other factions have gunpowder, but not like them, and for sure no flying air balloons used for shooting cannons.

If you're going back to do Bricky's 'Every Faction in Warhammer 40k Explained', I think you'll be in for a semi-pleasant surprise. One of the parts I personally find interesting about the 40k setting is that humans are perhaps (one of) the most inhuman forces in-universe. So Bricky explaining all of the non-human factions is (relatively) less dour and depressing. Just... just skip the Dark Eldar... the Dark Eldar are kinda screwed up.

Total War Warhammer about fantasy europe. Total War Warhammer 2 about fantasy north|south america and africa. Total War Warhammer 3 will be about fantasy China, Russia and the four Dark Gods of Chaos (i.e. demons) And all this is the magnificent universe of Warhammer Fantasy Battle (brother/sister Warhammer 40k)

Warhammer Fantasy, yeah. And they did indeed happen on different sides of the map. . . world even. The world of Warhammer resembles ours pretty well. And one was in their equivilant of South America. The other was their equivilant of China. I'm glad that we get to see more of this world, even as brutal as it is.
