Well no one really knows other then it being a fucking ice bear as the lore around Kislev is a little thin to say the least. Next thing. The giant fuck off Daemon you see fighting the ice bear is a Blood thirster of Khorne. Also known as a greater Daemon of Khorne. Khorne is the blood god. He is hate, rage, Marchall Prowess, and mindless savagery imbodied. And the Daemons of Khorne are shards of him that he has created to do his biding. You see Khorne is so big and his psychic presence is so dominating that if he were some how summoned into the mortal plain the world would explode from the psychic backlash of his coming. Thats a warhammer fantasy end times reference for ya. Anyways the Blood thirsters of Khorne. There are eight types of Blood thirsters. As eight is Khornes number. The type of Blood thirster we see in the trailer is the Unfettered fury. The eight and lowest class of blood thirsters. As for the purposes of Khornes Daemons. If the smaller ones the bloodletters and what not are his infantry then the bloodthirsters are his generals make since? Also the reason you really dont care for the girl in the trailer is because your not suposed to. She represents you entering this world. Her actions are by your design. And the giant fortress with Khornes spirit hovering over it is Khornes Brass Citadel. This scene basically signifies that in the campaign we are entering the realms of Chaos to try and stop the Chaos gods. Now why this is so important is because you dont just go into hell and come back alive let alone with your sanity in tack. I can think of only two people from the entirety of Warhammer fantasy who have done that and those people are The Chamillion Skink Oxotyl and the Dwarf Slayer Gotrek Gurnnisson. What that scene also does is ask you this question. Will you conquer your Daemons? Or Command them? Because in this game we will have the option to plays either the forces of Order or the forces of Hell... What decision you'll make well thats up to you. As for me? *BLOOD* *FOR* *THE* *BLOOD* *GOD!!!* *SKULLS* *FOR* *THE* *SKULL* *THRONE!!!* *LET* *THE* *GALAXY* *BURN!!!*

@@Spiderella3959 I don't know. The way I see it, Khorne's design has never changed that much, even if there hasn't been any official artwork since the earliest editions. Here's how I see the four: Khorne: A massive warrior or a demonic entity sitting on a throne of skulls. Though if I remember correctly, some written sources described him as having the head of a snarling warhound or something like that. But not much change overall. Nurgle: I see him as most similar to his Greater Daemons out of all the four. Basically a Great Unclean One, but far more massive. Tzeentch: Joke's on you, it's stated he has no true form. Slaanesh: I'm not certain about him/her. In fact, if I'm not mistaken he's/she's the only Chaos God I believe I've seen official art usually depicting as female. However, it's implied he/she can change her gender at will, making him/her asexual in truth, unless I'm mistaken.

Concerning the total war Warhammer questions. We don’t know the girl (I think). The guy is believed to be another possible player character who wrote a letter to Katarina (Elsa) who has betrayed her and turned to the dark gods. This tralier is meant to show off the ‘evil faction’ as in one of the dark gross evil gods specifically Khorne the blood god which you can play as, at least the faction. In total war Warhammer you are meant to be able to play any of the factions in the world be them good or bad. The total war Warhammer series is set in the Warhammer fantasy universe which is classic fantasy rather than Scifi. The story of Warhammer fantasy has finished the entire setting was concluded in the end time book’s series which fans did not enjoy especially since the Age of Sigmar series setting was thought to have replaced the fantasy setting. Cain is in the 40k universe.

In case you were wondering it's the 2nd book in a trilogy about a character named Inquisitor Eisenhorn by Dan Abnett. She shows how to avoid the corruption of chaos. 2.) The dude is a Gospodar, aka a part of the nobility. He shows how easily people can fall to corruption of chaos What you need to know about Kislev is they are the most northern human faction and is bulwark or main protectors of the Old World against the Forces of Chaos. The dude fell to Chaos cause he is tried of fighting and being the the bulwark and how the southern nations enjoy happy peaceful, times while Kislev is constantly attacked. Also in Kislev are two groups of people: The Gospodar and the Ungol. The Gospodar are the ruling class and nobility while the Ungol are the lower class cause the Gospodar conquered the Ungols centuries ago. This is a lot to take in but if you ever need more questions answered on Warhammer Fantasy or even 40K, I can try my best at it. Plus I recommend checking out the other main trailers of the Total War Warhammer Series. They are awesome too. More Warhammer Goodness is always good to see

Regarding the "He's clearly not a good guy" comment on the God Emperor: One of the great things about Warhammer 40K is, that there are no good guys and every faction is overly fanatical in their own way. It's what makes this universe so fun and comically absurd. All humanitiy has left in this hostile and deadly universe is religous zealotry and war. Which is basically human history in a nutshell...whenever we humans are driven by fear we seek refuge in the absurdest things like religion and mysticism, which more often than not lead to fanaticism and war. It's the ironic moronic cycle humanity has been reliving since the dawn of civilization and 40K turns the whole thing up to 11, I love it! xD

I really love that 9th Edition trailer and I think it does some things really well: 1. It starts with normal Guard. Their design taps into Western military traditions and includes a lot of shorthand. We all know that soldiers are tough, they're trained. We can see by the way the wordlessly communicate and rise as one that they've trained endlessly, they're ready. These people are ordinary heroes. (If you know the lore you know they're Cadians - they are kind of like the Night's Watch of the 40k universe. Except they lost, and their world was destroyed. They survived the fall of their planet. These guys are tough - they are good as normal people can be.) 2. And then two of them melt into puddles of grey goo. The face of the survivor tells us: I was not prepared. I didn't know things this horrible existed. 3. It tells us: Normal people, who are well prepared, will only last seconds here. It tells us that the Sisters and the Astartes are super human. 4. The voice actor for the Sister of Battle (Amalia Novena?) does a great job of conveying the strength and focus of her character. The Sisters literally manifest miracles through their faith - it's a kind of magic. Magic use in literature is often described as requiring a hard, precise, focused personality, but too often the depiction in visual media forgoes that. We see weak and willowy people who say a word and make something amazing happen - look at non-Elsa raising the giant bear out of the ground. We don't SEE her strength or her struggle. We know what it takes to become a warrior, that these are people that spend decades practicing almost every day with their swords. Mages are supposed to be the same, but the sword is their mind - but we never SEE that. Amalia's voice actor SHOWS us that. We see the blood on her face, the pain of her flayed hand, the old scars that cross her, the resolve in her face. We come to understand that every action on her part is an act of precisely controlled anger. 5. The space marines are literally superhuman - nine foot tall supermen with extra organs who can drink poison and run for days without getting tired in power armor strong enough to be almost a one-man tank. But even then, we can hear how MAD he is, how focused. "A spiteful universe raises forgotten evils to break us." The Imperium has already been ripped in half by the great rift - and now the Necron are waking up after millions of years asleep to attack, and what's worse, the destroyer cults, literally Necrons driven into insane by the years of sleep who want to destroy all life, are multiplying. It has to feel like the universe kicked them in the teeth, knocked them down, and then sidled up and coup de grace'd them right in the nuts, and he is appropriately mad about it. His actions, too, are an act of precisely controlled fury. 6. And that links back to us. We've all seen heroes fall. We've all been hit again and again. The trailer tells us, don't stay down. Don't curl up. Get mad, get angry, get fucking furious, and HIT THEM BACK. Even if ultimately you lose and everything ends, at least you can say you went down fighting.

You have to say Warhammer + Total War. Total War is a strategy game franchise that made a few games with the Warhammer IP. They normally do their own thing. I highly recommend their “Mandate of Heaven” trailed for Total War Three Kingdoms. If it doesn’t make you feel something, you’re not human.

What's amazing about your reaction to second trailer is that Sister of Battle, the woman warrior, projected just the 'feel' you got. Sisters of Battle in lore have such a strong faith in Emperor that it manifestes as miracle, just how she healed herself. And as relative newbie to the lore of the universe, you felt that without in debt explanations, just by her tone of voice. As a newbie writer myself, I just wish one day to be able to project so much by what is not said, instead of info dumbing everything.

The Adepta Sororitas are so fervent in their faith and fidelity to the God-Emperor that they can create Living Saints to perform miracles upon the battlefield. Also, their tanks are giant pipe organ artillery pieces, they blast hymns from high atmo, and they drop literal churches onto their enemies from orbit. And fire. Lots of fire. I mean LOTS of fire.

For the trial by fire trailer, you need a small bit of context to feel the weight of it. The nation in question (Kislev) is the empire that stands between the endless chaos wastes full of the creatures you see here who are champions of the ugly af gods, and the rest of the mortal world. The man is nobody of importance but he is talking about how some members of the army of Kislev are defecting to the chaos side because they feel that it is unjust that the world gets to live its happy life while Kislivites spend every day watching their brothers and sisters be cut down or mangled in horrific fashions. The girl has zero importance but is used to show us The Brass Citadel at the end. The Brass Citadel is something like the house of hades where all the blood that is spilled by the champions of the chaos god Khorne is sent to the river of blood and the skulls are taken to go and further the size of the skull throne. Hence the chant of his people that you hear at the end of the trailer "Blood For The Blood God, Skulls For The Skull Throne". The scene with the citadel is meant to show how physically close chaos is from the mortal realm. Hope that clears some things up, Warhammer 40k is very good and is very easy to recommend but I don't think enough people recommend fantasy. It's a much more digestible single world with amazing characters and great stories. I mean a rat blows up one of the moons and wipes out an entire continent because he thinks it would be funny. I highly recommend you look into the lore of Warhammer fantasy as it is so much more entertaining than 40k in my opinion. It's a very unpopular opinion because everyone knows about 40k and all the fans are in 40k, but fantasy is something you really need to give a try and a fair deal.

By believing hard enough, with all of their selves and souls, that Big E is the one true god, they start to be able to work miracles in his name. personally, one of my favorite Total Warhammer Trailers Is Karl Franz of the empire, it focuses on one of the Leaders of one of the Factions, Emperor Karl Franz, and his faction, Franz, himself, is probably one of the more Friendly, of sorts, leaders in the game, Respected, or on decent terms with most Orderly factions in the game, Respected by the high elves, good friends with the King of Brettonia, frindly with the Dwarfs, and even on moderately decent terms with the Isolationist, rude, wood elves, who gifted him a Griffin egg.

The first trailer narrator is the guy you see, he is narrating his descent into Chaos, as he believes he was betrayed. The girl with the bear is a scout, who comes back to see her town in ruins (the town you see him burn down and fight the army), and beyond the ruins, she sees the Icon of Ruin (something that was unveiled for the next game). So basically the narrator of Trial by Fire was her countryman who found himself either betrayed or cut off from this nation and decided to join the bad guys. The trailer is not very clear, i had to watch twice to make sure i understood what was happening. The last thing you hear said is one of the Chaos Gods mottos "Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne" (i'm saying this because it is a bit muted and i saw you struggling to understand it) Hope this helps you understand it better, and so see the differences in the trailers, like you said :)

So Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k aren't in the same universe, but are in the same multiverse and connected by Chaos (Fantasy calls it the Realm of Chaos, 40k calls it the Warp). Because of this we get the same Chaos Gods (Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch) in both universes and Chaos more or less does the same thing in both franchises

Close. Their order was not banned. Indeed, their order/orders were formed because the clergy (after making a royal mess of things with their armies, who were loyal to the clergy and not to Terra) was banned from having an army. Because the decree was worded as you said; forbidden from having 'men at arms', the Ecclesiarchy created the Adeptas Sororitas, of which the Sisters of Battle are the military arm. There are non-battle sisters too, working as archivists, healers, tech researching and such, but they are a bit less well known/prominent, for obvious reasons. Also, yes, the Sister of Battle are cool. :)

The whole point of the trial by fire trailer was that it was a Boyar, a lord of Kislev who leads an army in defense of his motherland, has fallen to chaos corruption and led a horde of daemons. The girl is a kislevite hunter and her pet bear who have borne witness to the march of the daemontide through the countryside.

The girl and the guy are just random characters, not anyone we know, like Tzarina (Queen) Katarin (badass Elsa) was in the last video. I took them as representations of normal Kislevites finding themselves on opposite sides of the war against chaos. In Warhammer Fantasy, Kislev is the most northern human nation and under constant invasion from the realm of chaos (a daemon infested plane of existence that's swallowed up the north pole). Kislev is always fighting invasions by daemons as well as mortal worshippers of the chaos gods, while not really getting much help from the other kingdoms of humans, elves and dwarves that benefit from their constant sacrifice. The way I read the trailer is you have a old warrior falling from proud Kislev patriot to mortal worshipper of Khorne, the chaos god of rage, because he feels the world has betrayed Kislev. Yet while he's speaking it shows a younger Kislevite's (someone the narrator claimed to care about in his opening lines) world burning down around her and in the end finding Chaos at her doorstep (she ends the trailer in front of the Brass Citadel, Khorne's fortress inside the realm of chaos). I think the trailer is highlighting that for all the chaos gods' powers, their armies of daemons, in the end the greatest weapon they can use against those you care about, is you.

However's there's no evidence it's the Yuri mentioned in the letter in cinematic trailer. I've seen plenty of people claim these two are unannounced legendary lords without any evidence to back up why. CA haven't given them names, and they are using the generic models for a Choas lord from TWH1 and Kislev archer we've seen in other kislev gameplay features. If they were LLs they've have unique models, and CA would have announced who they are like they did with Not Rasputin, the actual second Kislev LL, after the trailer he featured. If you wish to head cannon this is Yuri, that's fine, but there is no evidence they are anything more than random models CA chose to use in its marketing. I personally will await CA's confirmation.

in the trailer about Kislev, you are shown 2 characters, a man who was disappointed in his country and the meaning of life and decided to conquer this world to his will, and the dark gods ( not the fact that they are evil) helped him in this, and the girl is just a casual spectator of the events of this phenomenon, she watches as her loved ones are killed, and her homeland is burning in hellfire , and at the end of the trailer, she runs out into the open space and turns out to be near the bronze cytodel - the domain of Khorne that is in the parallel dimension - in the Warp, it tells us that the fabric of the worlds has thinned and reality has mixed with the Warp ! This is a real warhammer - get used to it - you are plunged into the thick of events, and for whom you are, who is right and who is to blame and where your favorite hero is-you find yourself in the process of exploring the universe ! There is no good here, everyone will die, the world is already doomed and you are just watching its agony before completely disappearing ! But that's what draws us to this universe ! Unprincipled, uncompromising, realistic, harsh and cruel mixed with hypertrophied pathos and humor and self-ridicule !

I would say the difference between the two trailers is that the second trailer was narrated by the person the trailer was focusing on. So the visuals on the screen emphasize her words (and vise versa) So when she says for example "Suffering is our prayer" you can see her both suffering and praying. This creates a stronger connection for the viewer. In the first trailer, the focus is not on the narrator and what he is doing. The Visuals and the words are almost completely disconnected. For example when he says "The meek cling to power" you are not being shown the meek, you are being shown the girl looking for her bear. This makes the trailer much more jumbled because there are multiple things going on simultaneously and you are not quite sure who is the protagonist of the trailer, which creates a much weaker connection to the characters on screen.

Its a double edged sword though, some people feel it compromises the setting by painting the Imperium in too good of a light when they're really just "Really cool bad guys". I do think its cool to demonstrate their absolute conviction tho

Having watched both Cinematics more than once, I think the reason is is the Total War Warhammer 3 the Narrators words feel more, detached from the scenes. It feels more like a self monologue where his words may or may not fit with what is going on onscreen. Where as with the New Edition Cinematic, both Narrators feel more personally invested in what is directly going on on screen and their words just tie into the action better imo. I do enjoy both cinematics though, so that's just my two cents on why you might have felt more invested in the second. Though I could be wrong!

I know I'm late to the party, here, but a few bullet points for potential clarification: - Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy (the Total War games use this setting) are two different universes, yes, but with a lot of overlap in certain points. - The daemons of both 40k and Fantasy not only kill, but can corrupt and sway those they fight. The Warhammer 3 trailer is basically watching Kislev peoples corrupted for one of the 4 chaos gods, Khorne. - Khorne is your basic slaughter god. All about death, murder, etc. Key phrase shouted by his followers: "Blood for the blood god. Skulls for the skull throne." - Lady from the Fantasy trailer is more showing someone witnessing the ramifications of people falling to chaos, either through battle or in their allegiance (at least, that's my interpretation) Hope this helps!

Oh boy, @HannaH, you're in for a wild ride now. As for your questions: Now, the 'Trial by Fire' trailer was more of a introduction to the various units that Kislev (The Warhammer Fantasy version of Russia, Poland and Kievan Rus rolled into one) and the Daemons of Khorne (The Red dudes with flaming swords, armoured beserkers and giant mechanical daemons called Juggernauts) have. But as for the storywise! I think it's inspired by one older lore section of a man named Yuri aka the Kislev officer who gets corrupted by chaos, of whom we see during the trailer. You see, when you get corrupted by Chaos, they start to fundamentally change your personality but also your appearance. The last we saw of him was both burning a temple dedicated to Ursun, the Bear God and the patron god of Kislev and lead Khorne Followers against Kislev. As for the female hunter, I think that was an Ungol Kossar, hard to say, but seems to have been part of that Kislevite who got corrupted original force but decided to go on her own, somehow getting herself a bear pet in the process. Now, it's obvious they were in the Chaos Wastes, given the amount of ruins, chaos portals and spikes and twisted trees that were around her. It's also important to note that the Aurora Borealis in the sky, is typically a bad sign in Warhammer Fantasy, as it is states to only revealed with a great deal of magic & chaos being so close to the world. It is at the end however, what the most bonkers of the trailer reveal. Because somehow, as the Kossar flees through the burning forest, she and the bear found themselves in the *REALM OF CHAOS* itself, specifically in the *Blood God's Domain.* How do we know this? Because they were in front of the the *Brass Citadel* itself, the very home and personal castle of *Khorne himself.* And that massive dude in the background, with horns, wings, blazing eyes glaring down on them? *That is Khorne himself* The Being to which all followers of Khorne give their praise to in this simple but badass creed. *BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THORNE!* Why this is huge is the fact that we'll be able to enter and battle on the Chaos Gods own turf in Warhammer Total War 3.

Also also: The "God Emperor" in the 40k universe is an undying, rotting corpse on a golden throne, and the religion surrounding him is just an ancient propaganda campaign that got way out of hand... The whole idea behind 40k is that literally every faction is meant to be cartoonishly evil so that players wouldn't feel any sort of moral bias towards any one of them. You're meant to just revel in the absurdity of it and not worry about being the good guy. Or at least, that's what the idea was when they first created it.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the whole wordy Total War:... thing is because "Total War" is a whole strategy game franchise with multiple different world settings such as Total War: Medieval, Total War: Empire, Total War: Shogun, etc. This is just the series of Total War games set in the Warhammer universe. The other ones tend to be much more earth history-based. But that's why the title is such a mouthful. Also, of course you called her Elsa; who wouldn't except someone who is already really familiar with her character and faction. Love seeing some of these trailers from your viewpoint.

There is so, so much more to Warhammer fantasy than just Kislev and Chaos. The setting is a kitchen sink for fantasy tropes and putting it's own unique twist on them and it's awesome! The Total War: Warhammer trilogy is a really good introduction for newcomers (it's how I came to it) and the makers have a habit of stuffing movie references into all of the lord pack and race pack expansions which is just *chef's kiss*. The trailers for Vermintide 1 and 2 are also a really good exemplar of the setting showing off one particularly insidious faction in the process, and if you're interested in lore, my recommendation would be KZbinr 'The Book of Choyer', he uses both games and artwork while delivering expert and epic narration of the content of each video for a really high quality experience.

Backstory: Kislev is the first Country that's invaded by the forces of chaos, including the daemons. The woman that's shown is a citizen of Kislev looking for her pet bear, and it found a gate into the chaos realm ( the hellish dimension of the daemons). Finally the guy that's narrating, and what's happening to him is literally him thinking about what's been happening in Kislev, and succumbing to the corruption of chaos. So he let himself be consumed by rage, changing into the evil side.

The Total War: Warhammer series has some really great cinematics, including the ones in the ingame engine. My favorite is the one from the first game featuring High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer of the Dwarves. The girl is just an archer that stumbles upon the devistation we see at the end of the trailer. The man is a general that feels betrayed by his country, Kislev, and decides to join the other side, the demonic hordes of the Chaos Gods, or more specifically the rage-filled blood god Khorne.

The 40k trailer probably hits harder because it's a "cinematic" with a higher budget meant to boost overall hype, where the Fantasy trailer is a "gameplay" trailer with the primary goal of showing off the game's actual units you play as (while boosting hype too if possible).

The bald dude is a notorious Chaos lord that caused lots of problems and will probably be one of the main Faction Leaders in the game not sure who the girl with the bear is. Warhammer Fantasy has been confirmed as world that exists in 40k but we don’t know when or where. “Did she just magically heal?” Yes and no. She was praying to the Emperor who is/was a very powerful psyker. This enabled her to channel a portion of his power and heal her self. The powers of psykers are basically limited only by the imagination of the psyker and their ability to resist the corrupting influence of the warp. Channeling like the sisters do is using the Emperor’s powers so he takes all the risk but they have to direct the power.

So guy with the shield at @8:23 I believe is Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines. All the soldiers with the U-looking thing on their shoulders are space marines of the Ultramarine legion. Space Marines are sometimes called "the Emperor's angels" which is why the lady said "for his most faithful, the Emperor sends his angels" because as you saw in the beginning of that trailer the normal imperial guardsman were getting literally evaporated. The green glowy skull things they're fighting are called Necrons, who have their own lore that's a bit too detailed to go into without me typing at least 2 more paragraphs, you can make a video about them alone.

So to answer your questions about the first trailer. It's more of a faction debut for Kislev (bear people) and Khorne demons. The developers assume the audience is already on board with the game and up to date with the story so far, so theirs no need for a lot of narrative, just cool monster doing cool things.

The first trailer is not supposed to focus on anyone but too focus on the two different factions of Kislev and Khorne. Kislev being the human side the ones defending the world from the chaos realm. While Khorne being one of many chaos factions. The trailer is meant too show of this two factions like units, lords and some of the story that you could hear of in the start of the trailer. So that ice queen is not important during that trailer but she is essential too the game because ye she´s the queen of Kislev.

She's a Sister of Battle. The all female arm of the Cult of the Imperium. The other trailer is the ehhhh, fantasy setting, not the sci fi setting. The warhammer trailer is a tabletop miniatures game. 40k is basically the darkest timeline possible. Kind of a reaction to Margret Thatcher's England. my favorite part of Warhammer is that humanity is basically 100% united in the imperium. It's so varied that most of the foibles of humanity are generally tolerated, every planet has its own variation of the God-Emperor and it is allowed out of pure necessity. Base humanity does not have race prejudice, but deviation from basic humanity is not tolerated, except abhumans (Aberrant Humans, like stable adaptations to specific worlds) and mutation is cracked down heavily upon because of the fear of chaos and this weird doctrine where the basic pattern of mankind is considered holy. It's like the very worst version of us and a cautionary tale of what may come.

She's used more to show off the environments that will be in game from the frozen land of Kislev to the fiery Realm of Khorne. Meanwhile the narrator is another Kislev native who has fallen to the power of Chaos and has entered the service of Khorne and his daemons. Also the classic war cry of Khorne's warriors is the "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE" that we hear the big daemon (I believe they're called Bloodthirsters) scream as he charges the giant ice bear
