Thing is that bike is pretty much stockish you do a phathead with the higher comp dome and some race gas and some porting for more power and then galfer steel braided brake lines and oversized rotors and some suspension upgrades makes the bike a monster
@highnoon31562 жыл бұрын
I know you kept it stock for the shoot out but the motor just need the base of the cylinder millied down .030" to lower the port timing and have the squish corrected on the head. Its cheap, easy and really wakes that motor up.
@GregHitchko2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting! I appreciate you sharing that. If I ever get another one of these year Hondas, I will definitely need to do that. Where does it specifically wake the motor up?
@highnoon31562 жыл бұрын
@@GregHitchko bottom end to mid and got more top end as well. I sent it off to Eric Gorr to get done along with the "mo betta" porting, and a 38mm pwk air striker carb with jd Jetting needle.

@@highnoon3156 that sounds epic. Man it would be cool to ride the bikes back to back to see how the modded one compared to the stock.

Love my cr250. Coming off a 250f this thing hauls ass. So fun keeping it on the pipe!

Right on! What year is your CR250? Also curious as well about what year and model 250F you came off of and how it compares to the two stroke. Thanks M C!

@@GregHitchko my cr250 is an 04 and my crf250 was a 2016. It was a sweet bike just wanted something different. The 250 2 stroke kinda scares the shit out of me still 🤣 but I’m getting used to her
@GregHitchko2 жыл бұрын
@@MC_795 Haha that's awesome! I hear you on that, you can definitely tell the difference between the 250 two stroke and 250F, you think they would actually be closer in power, but they are not. Except for maybe a factory 250F!

Factory connection suspension on all the bikes would’ve been a sick way to go about it. Race tech is so hit or miss… but man what a dream shootout I collected all the 125s and loved the rm kx and cr so much the yz didn’t quite have the it factor and I’ve ridden some amazing yz125s and some complete garbage ones (2022 🤦🏻♂️). Every bike is so sexy though my gosh!
@GregHitchko Жыл бұрын
That's rad that you have all of the 125's! Surprised that the YZ didn't have that "it" factor, thought it might have been one of the best in the group. What about it didn't you prefer?
@chrisvillarreal2752 Жыл бұрын
@@GregHitchko the YZ is still in production so it has nothing special about it and to be honest I’ve ridden some spectacular yz125s 2019 specifically and it was flawless but also rode a 2022 and it was so horrible I felt terrible for my buddy because he was destroying everyone on his 05 rm125 and now he’s stuck with a garbage 22 he has to figure out and dial in and he’s not too sharp with all that lol. But yeah anyone can go get a yz125 but a oem minty fresh kx cr or rm 125 nope those are a dime a dozen nowadays!

I think that the ‘05 that is the same as ‘06 & ‘07 are way better in terms of engine compared to this ‘04 of the shootout.
@GregHitchko2 жыл бұрын
Interesting facts! I know mechanically they went to a single power valve flap instead of the 2 systems that they has in 02-04. How did it perform differently?! Thanks dude
@marco88co2 жыл бұрын
@@GregHitchko there are multiple differences: 1) 02-04 are way harder to jet. 2) the 03 was lacking in terms of affordability because the thickness of the cylinder at the exit of the chamber of combustion was very reduced and a lot of cylinder had and have problems there; 3) the single power flap is more quick in the opening and give more torque trough all the RPMs curve. My 06 CR has an engine non complete as my 08 RM but it’s very very good. Not a weak point at all.
@GregHitchko2 жыл бұрын
@@marco88co Right on dude! I know the 04 struggles with exhaust bridge cracks too, probably because of what you stated about the thickness of the cylinder there. I can also see that about the single flap system over the dual flap as well. Thanks for dropping that knowledge, always appreciated!
