Mamamoo is THE vocal group. Wait til you actually hear their vocals. A good sampler is their Killing Voice performance. And I came in on their debut, Mr Ambiguous, in 2014.

@@anonygent My first and only group (till 2024) was (G)I-DLE. I was scrolling my feed and saw some short videos with their Queencard song. As a person that like a very different music, they got my interest. It was in october a couple days before they released I want that MV.

@@ABSNOBODY191 Interesting. My first was Girl's Day's Female President. I heard it used as the background in some random KZbin video and thought, "Hey, what is that?!" Fortunately, someone had already asked in the comments and been answered accurately. Now after six years, I have more than 500 Asian pop and rock songs in my collection (some Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, Thai, and even Filipino along with the 90% Korean), all girl groups and female soloists. I feel cheated, if I had known about Uhm Jung Hwa in 1996, I could have been listening to K-Pop for all that time, but of course, I didn't have access to Korean radio or TV, and KZbin didn't exist.

I really appreciate Mamamoo's more mature vibe, as a mature woman myself. Can attest they are amazing vocalists live! Their Killing Voice is THE essential experience, in my opinion. Your ears will thank you.

One of my favorite groups period. The strongest vocal group in all of K-pop. They debuted about 10 years ago. They aren't as active as they used to be as a group, but still do lots of solo work, and it sounds like they will be having a group comeback soon. They're not the biggest group, but their fan base is passionate, and for good reason. They are supremely talented, and such a fun group to be a fan of. You'll see what I mean if you keep watching them 😊

This is one of Mamamoo's songs that least shows their vocal ability, however, for us fans, the context in which this song was delivered was something quite revolutionary, a living response against the repression of female behavior patterns in Korea

mamamoo debuted in 2014 with mr. ambiguous so they're a 3rd gen group and they're one of the best groups in kpop when it comes to vocals. 2 of them are now in different companies so they're not as active as before but they all have successful solo careers. their most recent comeback as a group was illella in 2022. some of my favorite songs by them are wind flower (2018), egotistic (2018), décalcomanie (2016) and piano man (2014). also if you want to hear more of their live vocals you should definitely check out their killing voice.

There is simply no other way to describe Mamamoo except from ICONIC. It's not an exaggeration when I say they're the vocal queens of kpop. They never fit in any standard either, especially Hwasa. So glad you're finally checking them out! And to answer ur question, Mamamoo is a 3rd gen older girl group (the same gen as BTS) My recommendation for tdy would be a group called PLAVE! Since you're also an anime fan and you're gradually starting to discover kpop, this would be a perfect fit don't u think😁 They're a virtual kpop group like no other! That's right they use the motion tracking technology like vtubers with real people behind their avatars, combined with the kpop genre Pleaseeee try checking them out with their songs "Wait for you" and "Way 4 Luv"

I love Mamamoo! Each of them is incredibly talented. This song does hold back vocally, but trust that they can SING. You seemed to notice Hwasa and Moonbyul (the rapper) the most out of the group. Their appearance n Killing Voice will give you a good taste of a bunch of their songs as well as their vocal styles.

Other songs to check out - Egotistic, Windflower, Mr Ambiguous and their Killing Voice appearance. MMM has one of the best female rappers in kpop in Moonbyul. They are known as the vocal queens. They just had their 10 anniversary but are not really together any longer as Hwasa signed with another entertainment company, P Nation not too long ago. All of them have solo albums. Other girls group: (G)Idle, Dreamcatcher, Aespa, NewJeans, Rolling Quartz (not really kpop but k-rock)

Recommended videos to watch: 1. Killing Voice - Mamamoo ( they were the first group to be invited that's why it was only 15 minutes rather than other groups'.) 2. Mamamoo - Immortal Songs Medley. A little part out of their 4 hours concert. They had cover many genre and has various discography. All of them, even the rapper, are great singers. Watch guide, if you want. Starry Night was my first Mamamoo song. Their MVs are always so beautiful (or at least cool). They are my fav female vocalists (male being BtoB). Skills on another level. They are third gen so around since like 2014. They are mostly doing solo stuff but since they are friends I would expect a group comeback at some point.

Here's some basic info about Mamamoo: You pronounced their name correctly (mama + moo). Pretty much universally thought of as the vocal gold standard among girl groups. The members are involved in all creative aspects of their career including songwriting (lyrics & music), arranging, choreography, styling and MV concepts. MMM has the most songwriting credits of any girl group in kpop history (around 200). Extremely diverse discography ranging from pop, hip hop, jazz, r&b, folk and rock to latin pop, reggaeton, bossa nova, EDM, ballads and more. Leader Solar (the boxer) even did a country song for a kdrama OST. People say MMM can sing anything and write a song about anything and they have a bunch of crackhead songs as evidence of the latter lol. Each member has a successful solo career as well. MMM was the first group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group was still active as a unit. MMM has never fit into kpop's rigid standards regarding beauty, fashion, gender, sexuality or proper behavior by polite young female idols. They're trailblazers who started from less than zero (audition rejects and retreads from other companies) and carved out their own niche in kpop. They don't take crap from anyone but they also don't cultivate a bad girl image. Instead they often use their platform to promote self love, empowerment and acceptance of others for their uniqueness, esp those who don't fit into the supposed norms of society. Hip is a good example, in which they redefine Hip to mean being yourself and doing your own thing rather than the usual slang meaning of cool or trendy while mocking their haters as people who spit in their own faces. In the MV they play themselves as Mamamoo (the 1st Universe) and they each role play three women in alternate universes who are unusual in one way or another (president, artist, entertainment company CEO, leader of a glam band with drag musicians, etc). The point of course is that everyone deserves respect regardless of their looks, gender, sexuality, or their fashion and lifestyle choices. MMM just celebrated their 10th anniversary on June 19. I noticed some confusion about their status in the comments. They haven't released a new album since 2022 and have been concentrating on solo and subunit projects since the group's return from a world tour a year ago but during a video call on their anniversary they reaffirmed that Mamamoo will continue. Solar summed it up at the end of the call saying something to the effect that they were, are and always will be Mamamoo and they're proud of their accomplishments. The group is made up of two pairs of best friends - leader Solar & main rapper Moonbyul, and the two youngest members, Wheein & Hwasa, who've been besties since middle school. They believe they were destined to meet and become best friends even if they weren't singers or in a group together and have several songs on that topic. I think their bff team chemistry is the secret sauce that elevates their immense talent to goddess tier as a group and is the main reason Mamamoo will never disband. They've released several dozen group, solo and subunit albums so you've got hundreds of songs to look forward to and good luck finding a bad one. And, as any moomoo (MMM fan) will tell you, Mamamoo is best when they're live because of their amazing, always live vocals and charismatic stage presence. There are literally hundreds of hours of terrific live performances available on yt and I agree with the folks who recommended their Dingo Killing Voice session as a good starting point. Have fun exploring one of the most talented and fascinating groups in kpop. 😂

When I entered the kpop world, I met the two most famous groups straight away, I was enchanted by the male group and a female group, but the female group showed me that it was just fame, Because it comes from a big company. But on stage, live, it wasn't so good. The fandom itself says that this group is weak in vocals.Then I met Mamamoo, and uuuuuhhh that's talent baby.They sing a lot, they all rock live, it's a shame they don't come from a big company and they are attacked a lot for being irreverent and much more. I fearlessly say that Mamamoo is the best female group from the third generation to the current one.

They're a group from the 3rd generation (same gen of BTS, Twice and EXO), and their 10th anniversary was just last week. IMO, they’re the best female group. I only stan two groups, BTS and Mamamoo. Mamamoo is a bit quirky, breaking many of the norms of K-pop. They don’t sound like the typical girl group either. And their vocals are top-tier.

Moonbyul, Solar, Wheein & Hwasa The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of Aug 27/23 - Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 117(2nd most credited famale artist overall... Yoon Mirae at 139), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well. - Solar has 41 credits to her name. She wrote the lyrics and composition for her solo song, “Spit it Out”. Composer on "Honey". - Hwasa has 46 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. ("Somebody" w/Loco). - Wheein has 10 credits (that I can find, maybe more) COULD use an Update, as this is 8+ months ago LoL... if anyone has the info (TY)

They didnt came from the big 3 companies. So build their career on their own. Even performed on street to get recognition. Slowly made a fandom called Moomoo. Most people find the best introduction to Mamamoo is their Killing Voice vid, which is a live performance of snippets of many of their title tracks. Alternately the four vids of their 4 Seasons/4 Colors project ... Starry Night, Egotistic, Windflower and Gogobebe, would be good choices. Mamamoo debuted June 19th of 2014, so they are early third gen. They are still a group but their last group comeback was Oct of 2022. They had their first American tour in 2023, which broke records for a first American tour by a female K-pop group. They all have succesful solo careers. All four have dropped or are dropping albums in 2024. We are hoping for an ot4 comeback later in the year or next year, but they are currently signed with 3 different companies so logistics are hard. Finally as a suggestion for another group Purple Kiss, who are Mamamoo's younger sister group. I'd suggest Sweet Juice to start with (best to watch the intro vid Save Me along with it).

This song is for people who scrutinize every move of celebrities. If you read the headline when Hwasa was dressed as president it said "president Hwasa dressed ridiculous at the airport", bc she got a lot of hate for her airport outfits even to the point people were hating on her for not wearing a bra!??? You should react to their killing voice performance, it's a madley of their songs and it portrays perfectly their amazing vocala and how diverse their music really is. For me mamamoo is the closest group to bts in terms of good lyrics, variety of genres in their music and amazing live performances. Moonbyul (the rapper) also produces a lot of their songs and the members actively participated in writing their songs. If I'm not mistaken they've been a group for like 10 years they had an anniversary recently and although they're not active as a group rn, all the members are releasing their solo work at this moment and it's very good.

I would recommend their songs "starry night" and "Aya". Pretty much all of their songs are good though. Their performance on "the killing voice" would also be really good to check out. It really shows their vocal ability for which they are known for.

My top recommendations: Immortal Songs Medley, Decalcomanie, the 2021 version of You're the Best, Destiny, Gloomy Coincidence (cover), and then there are so many contenders for the next spot that I can't really pick. Immortal Songs Medley is a group of six songs that they put together from their appearances on the TV show, Immortal Songs 2, where outstanding singers pay tribute to old songs by covering them LIVE. Idol groups almost never get picked to appear, but Mamamoo went on the show 14 times. They performed the medley in the middle of a 4 hour concert in 2017 and is a tour-de-force of vocal talent and stage dominance. It wasn't until the 4th or 5th watching that I noticed the other dancers, and about the 10th before I noticed the band was live and not recorded.

p.s. My first introduction to Mamamoo was Starry Night, which was the top selling song in March 2018, though I didn't hear it until September. I didn't care for the song very much, but the girls were so obviously insanely talented that I just started going through their discography, hoping to find *one* song I might like. It was like finding buried treasure, I found so many. And even Starry Night has grown on me.

IU and Mamamoo are the best female vocalists on the Korean music scene in my opinion. You need to check out Mamamoo's Killing Voice - they are AMAZING!!! Check their discography and you won't be disappointed! Also, Moonbyul and her rapping is FIRE!!! Egotistic and I Miss You are probably my faves.

Their Killing Voice performance is a must, but you can watch any MV or live performance, they won't disappoint you, especially because they created songs in every genre, basically, so it's hard to pick just one or two. If you want to hear vocal heavy songs: Decalcomanie, I miss You, Where are We Now, Immortal Songs 2, other live performances and many other songs. Mamamoo debuted in 2014 and basically the best vocal group and live performers. Said by industry people. If you want to know them personally, I can recommend the Mamamoo Introduction Guide Part 1-2 and Why Mamamoo is the most underrated Kpop group videos. HIP is not a vocal heavy song, because it was created for haters and basically a shade to the Kpop industry because people criticized them for their looks. Basically they said, they're not pretty and Hwasa is too much sometimes.

II'm not lying when I say Mamamoo are Vocal Queens (like EXO😊) I love HIP but this track only showcases about 5% percent of their vocals. Plus all 4 have great solo works as well. Moonbyul, rapper, most credited female in Kpop. I'd suggest checking out their Killing Voice performance for snippets of some of their title tracks. For Vocals- Decalcamonie, Paint Me, Where Are We Now, Mr. Ambiguous (2014, debut song) Song was written with Quincy Jones, by President of Rainbow Bridge (mind. However he ended up not using it. some of the lyrics were then changed and given to Mamamoo. For Quirkiness- Sleep in the Car, , 1 CM (Taller Than You- literally dissing each others heights. I'll leave it there now because there are to many to mention at a time.

Oh yes, I'm so glad you're discoreving Mamamoo for yourself now. Hands down my favorite k-pop group.They are Gen 3 group, same as BTS, debuted in 2014. In their debut days they had a very unique retro vibes. Never seen anyone do that in k-pop. As the years gone by their style changed quite a lot, but it kept its uniqueness, this alluring and unashamed maturity in both their songs, lyrics and music videos that I almost never see in other girl groups. As for the recommendations, I highly suggest you check out "Egotistic", "AYA" and "Dingga". And if you really want to know the real essence of Mamamoo, you should know why they are called the Vocal Queens and check out their ballad song "Where Are We Now" MV and their Killing Voice video (fun fact, Mamamoo was the very first k-pop group that made the Killing Voice video, and it became highly popular after that). Please react to the Mamamoo episode of Dingo Killing voice! Mamamoo actually does go crazy vocally and their Killing voice is a perfect example of that. Each of the Mamamoo members also have awesome solo stuff. (Like BTS)

this is a 3rd generation group (at the very beginning of 3rd generation too) I’m not a Korean but I remember when I was in highschool they were everywhere in my country. They are still very active today, they have a world tour together last year as a whoke group. This year each of the members are on their own solo world tours right now. Mamamoo is problaby the best (at least in my opinion) in Kpop. Funny enough, this song isn’t actually highlight their talent the most. I would recomend you check out Egotistic, Decalcomanie, Where are we now next

Wheein actually learned the drums in like a month to play them live on stage for this song. This MV in my opinion doesn't do a good job showing them vocally. You should watch a live performance from them to actually see just how amazing they are at singing and performing

Personally, mamamoo are the best girl group out there. The only group I was ever able to care about other than BTS was mamamoo simply because the girls are soooo goood. They’re excellent vocalists (please watch more. This was one of their simpler songs) arguably the best kpop female vocalists. And theyre not your stereotypical girl group from kpop. They’re different. You’ll see when you watch more of them. I wouldn’t consider myself a moomoo (their fandom) mostly because being army is full time but I do listen to them and casually look forward to their works. Thank you for your reaction.
