We begin a new journey, as we delve into the world of Non-League. We will be following local East London club Tower Hamlets on their journey throughout step 6, with no budget, they have constructed a team full of young & experienced volunteer footballers to help them this season.

I loved this kind of content, but for me, it also exposes the brutal and toxic culture of non league football. Most men give up time, and money to come and train and play? They are chosen as one of 10 outfield players and if not you are benched. There are already so many ways to compare yourself to another guy let alone create more toxic culture by openly shaming people who make bad choices under the pressure of trying to impress or keep a shirt. I don't think this was the worst example, but more coaches and teams could learn from working on trying to create a culture where leaders form in the dressing room by design, getting others involved in warm ups, cutting out fines and rewarding positive behaviour rather than penalising undesirable behaviours. I think that's what you can see in this team right now. People scared to make mistakes and thats a shame, hopefully that changes. Yes football is a results business but its results based on people and if the culture around the people isn't correct, neither will the players performances be imo. Anyway hope to see more in the future 👍👍
