I love my minivan. Heated seats, back row folds flat OR backwards to “tailgate”, remote start, storage under the seats, you can park pretty much anywhere because the doors slide open rather than open out. Even a sunroof. I mean what more can you want in a vehicle. 🤣

I’m convinced my daughter is in some people’s scrap books! She was 3 when we were stationed in South Korea. Everyone would call her “cutie girl” (she was very blonde). We took a trip to China and she was in so many group tourist photos on The Great Wall!!! We were visiting “The Bird’s Nest” (the Olympic swimming arena) and a random guy just took her to be in a photo. We were used to it by then. It was wild! She thought she was a rockstar! 😂

Katie, I’m not an animal person either…and we have a dog…that I’m the one walking and feeding and bathing. My kids and my husband love pets!. The dog is still here because my 6-year-old LOVES him and cuddles him and calls him her “sweet potato”. If it were up to me I wouldn’t even have a fish.

I agree with Katie, the pedestal that animals have been placed on, in regards to humans, is ridiculous. I love dogs, but when a human life is at risk, the dog goes. I love the marriage fighting segment.. way to be real guys.. thanks for a great podcast!

Same on the animals Katie! My husband and 2 kids have been wearing me down for years to get a dog and I've finally lost the battle (and not thrilled). I also work from home so will be the one stuck taking care of this creature most of the time. Yay... can't wait.

I second researching breeds, and don't be afraid to adopt an adult dog instead of a puppy. Try to find one that is a manageable size and relatively mellow temperament. Then you might actually like it! 😂

Love you guys! Long time fan here…I watch/listen every week! Just wanted to say I used to be just like Trey and Katie and was NOT a dog person at all. I wasn’t drawn to petting anyone’s dog or caring when someone would say “aw, isn’t that dog cute?”. My reaction was usually “mm hmm, sure”. I didn’t grow up having a dog, so that’s likely why. BUT, my husband grew up with dogs, and has wanted one for years for our two kids to grow up with. Finally he convinced me and I agreed, and we got a puppy. We’ve had her for a year now and I can honestly say she’s (the dog) turned me into a dog person. Not obsessive, but I’ll definitely pet friend’s dogs whenever I see them now. Somehow getting our own dog has made me care about other dogs. I feel like it’s similar to when you don’t have kids yet and don’t pay much attention to other people’s kids, but once you become a parent suddenly everyone’s kids are so cute and you talk about them, play with them, etc. It changes the way you feel about it once you’re living it! By the way, I’m in no way saying dogs are equal to kids. 😊

Katie, I’m also not an animal person… I have seen way too many dogs and cats pee and poop all over houses. Once a dog had a poop the size of a cantaloupe. Scarring to say the least 🤢Plus they’re very loud and they get fur everywhere. Also dog mom culture is so extra… people are so obsessed people are with them 🙄

I lived in a town that had Emu's and one was a great escape artist. He would chase the kids when they were riding bikes in the neighborhood. And not in a nice ha,ha funny way. I guess he thought they were Emu's too.

SUV's > Minivan. No debate. Keep your sliding doors and built in vacuum. I don't want to have to avoid eye contact at stoplights or feel like a total dork getting out of that thing in a parking lot. You can get captain chairs and storage in a SUV. I've never seen a dad with a smile on his face driving a minivan.

My fruit intake is probably 2-3 bites a month. I’m more of a savory person, so I’m not wanting something sweet. But I’m just like Trey, anytime my 17 month old offers me some of her fruit and I have a bite I say “this is so good. I should eat more fruit.”

Okay, I totally get Katie with dogs…I had some pets growing up, but I can’t stand dogs and hate it when people act like you’re a horrible person for not petting their yapping poodle when you’re outside 🤦‍♀️

Katie, I am also a white female who does not like animals. I think part of it is because I was attacked by a dog that was being "friendly" to me when I was about 2. Until I was 16 I would hide behind someone when I was around pretty much any dog. And of course, since I was so scared of them the dogs seemed to be more attracted to me.

Not in a mean way, just not comfortable and it's definitely visible in my body language- to the point where my neighbors know they need to change their path when they see me walking in ! I guess I've not gotten over a couple traumatic memories watching dogs attacking ppl in my childhood.

My son had photos taken of him by Asian tourists too!!! We were at the Liberty Bell and an entire busload of tourists took photos of my 2 year old. My husband, who has had the same thing happen to him in many Asian countries, told me it was because he had blond hair and the biggest blue eyes.

Fellow animal non liker here! My husband keeps getting me pets for different holidays as a sneaky way of not having to get my consent. We currently have a hedgehog and an 80 pound dalmatian both of which I am trying to convince him to find new homes for. While I love them (we’ll at least the dog) I definitely don’t like them and don’t understand the point of having an animal in your house. To me they are just extra expense and an extra chore. He says I’m heartless but at least I’m not alone 😜

I wasn't a dog person for awhile. Then we got one, and my heart was changed. We had to put her down almost a year ago, and our family felt like a part of us was missing. 2 weeks ago qe went to adopt 1 dog and came home with 2❤❤

About dog people...we have 2 dogs, but they are outside and my kids play with them OUTSIDE! THEY ARE FINE! I was at the grocery store and this lady walks by us, ( i had my 3 girls 2, 5 and 7 with me) with a dog in her cart (dont get me started on that) and the dog starts barking ferociously and tries jumping out and the lady grabs the dog and turns to us and says, oh he loves kids! Brings him over to my girls and says, here pet him! They back up and shake their heads so she comes over to me as im holding my 2 year old and says, here pet him and shoves the dog in her face, so she starts crying and the lady says, he's going to lick your face then! So i turn away from her and she finally walked off mumbling something. It was wild and i was mad. I absolutely can't stand when people do that! Would if i just went and shoved my kids in peoples faces and said here kiss their cheek! Like really?! Anyway just a crazy world anymore!

Such a fun episode! I too am not an animal lover. I think dogs are cute and sometimes they are characters but I can't deal with the hair or the barking. I'm also somewhat allergic lol The marriage fights segment was soo relatable. Probably my favourite part and not that I'm encouraging fights but we need more stories 😂 Also...I love fruit but fruit cannot be trusted. In the words of Jerry Seinfeld, Fruits a gamble!

I get not wanting a house pet, but I am currently petting my black lab mix. I have little kids and my husband is gone for the military a lot so I need the peace of mind that comes with having a super sweet but scary looking dog

I have a pitbull and I fully disagree that it's all nurture vs nature. I don't think putbulls are inherently aggressive towards humans, but there's been so much bad breeding that there are a lot of temperamentally unstable dogs. Plus a ton of people are bad dog owners & don't understand what a dog needs, and they're not trained & can have behavioral problems because of that. My pit is very sweet & mellow, and loves kids. A good pit is great with kids, even little ones, because they have a high pain tolerance & don't mind pokes and pulls like a lot of other dogs do.

I agree.. lots of pit bulls are great dogs and would not hurt anyone. But some of them do have temperament issues, whether from birth or caused by humans. And those are the ones you need to be very experienced with. I found that out this week.. I learned a hard lesson.

Katie, you SHOULD still be afraid of kangaroos! My husband and i took our 2 daughters who were 7 and 9 last year to a "petting zoo." There were tons of people there and we were all just able to mingle around with the kangaroos, llamas, and emus. We were immediately on edge because the emus would be up in your face and the kangaroos were being a bit aggressive with each other. Maybe 3 minutes into our time there, a kangaroo the size of my 7 year old jumped up onto her from the back and had its arms like around her neck/on her shoulders. His back legs were kicking/clawing her. My daughter started screaming immediately and it took both my husband and i to get the kangaroo off of her. It was so shocking and we couldnt figure out why that kangaroo targeted our kid out of everyone in there!

Love you guys! So many things to say about this episode and I’m only half way through. I’m a dog lover and have an 80 pound golden retriever that wouldn’t hurt a fly let alone Grimmis!! Pitbulls are scary- I don’t trust them either. I do think you should get Thomas familiar with nice dogs so he’s not scared. Also no judgement for Katie for not being a dog lover. 100% agree with Katie on not driving a minivan but love that Trey will do it! Also the Asians taking photos of toeheads is hilarious. I can speak to the take down a dog thing. We had a 150 lb Great Dane (I know, roast me) and he attacked my neighbors 6 year old when I had him on a leash. I am 5’5”, 130 lbs. he pulled her to the ground and I went down with him and punched him over and over as hard as I could. He eventually let her go. She was okay, just needed stitches. But yes, your animalistic instinct kicks in. When it’s a child, there is no thought of harm to yourself, only thoughts about the child. It never crossed my mind he could kill me. Not to toot my horn, I believe any mom will have instinct take over in this situation. No, we do not have that dog anymore.

I’m a SUV kinda mom. I only have two kids though. Don’t need a third row seat. My kids also loved bananas as toddlers but now it’s a hit or miss. I also eat an apple every morning so I can take my med but I peel it with a peeler because I hate the peel getting stuck in my teeth. lol I hate cutting up any type of melon. I always KZbin a faster way to cut it and I haven’t found anything useful so far. lol
