Having recently heard a bit about the ancient (I mean to the point of being prehistoric) origin of some of our oldest myths, it's fascinating how you can see the parallels, once you know them. That idea of a primordial ocean is so widespread, it supposedly must have originated before modern humans even left Africa if we assume a common origin. The original story of the Torah had that motif of the deep from which land is taken/made by someone or something, too. Which itself was just the Babylonian creation myth with the beginning cut out and then diverging, only having one of the gods as now the only deity.

All the different names for Ra are different “gods” that he turns into depending on the positioning of the sun. Khepri is the dawn for instance where he takes on the form of a golden Scareb. A lot of Egyptian gods are like that, there is a “main” god that represents the aspect of it (In the case of Ra the sun) and then several other gods that represent different aspects or variations of the original, either being a different form of the original god or completely different gods themselves. Think of it like if you had a god of television, he represents your tv. Now he has 2 forms based on wether the tv is on or off. And several other gods form either from him or him becoming them based on what channel you turn on. The Egyptians believed in parts of a whole which connects to there being different parts of the soul such as Blue mentioned your name. They really were a fascinating culture and it’s amazing we know all of this even after literal thousands and thousands of years.

5:57 If you find that funny, speaking of ancient myths, I've heard of the idea that the first "land" being created by an "earth diver" like figure had its origin in, uhm, womb envy. As in men being insecure that they can't give birth one way, so they gave birth from the other side, giving us the, err, brown soil we stand on. Yeah. One of our original beliefs might be that we shat ourselves into existence. I don't know how supported that theory is but it's certainly a story, that one ^^

Atenism is a very complicated topic, and we're still reliant on archaelogy to explain some things. It started out as what was a common practice in large polytheistic pantheons: henotheism (worshipping one god without denying the existence of others). Basically Akhenaten took the sun disc (not a human-like god, but the solar disc itself), started worshipping it, and claimed it was above all the other gods, without denying other gods existed AT FIRST. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Hinduism also has these different currents who worship either Shiva or Vishnu, etc...) Then a few years into his reign, Akhenaten began ordering statues of other gods, temples etc to be destroyed or rededicated to Aten, which is when Egyptologists typically classify the shift from henotheism to monotheism. There are numerous theories about the reasons for Akhenaten's reform, one of which being he wanted to take power away from the priests of the other sun god, Amun-Ra, in Thebes. But Freud's idea that it influenced Judaism is completely unproven and dismissed by most if not all of the Egyptologists (Freud had the idea that Moses was a former priest of Aten who fled Egypt after Akhenaten's death and went on to found/reform Judaism, which was completely baseless speculation).

The boys is such a great show because it's so much more realistic to how we would act if we had such power. It's why the Egyptian dieties make sense.

There is a theory that the Sea people are actually Atlantians. Not the mermaids. Just people from Atlantis.
