Neither one is _good_ for you. Cow's milk gets an F grade for human health, but storebought plant milks get at best, a C. Coconut milk gets an F too. Plant milks are basically liquid fat and protein shakes; if you have weight to lose, or have any heart disease, plant milks need to be strictly limited, and the whole food needs to be eaten instead.

Does soya milk contain oxalates which could cause kidney stones in susceptible people?

Soy milk does contain oxalates, which may be a concern for susceptible people. According to this study, "Almond milk has the highest oxalate concentration, followed by cashew, hazelnut, and soy. Coconut and flax milk have undetectable oxalate levels." Soy is better than dairy milk for kidney health, but there are better plant milk options! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34045136/

@MrTheoptimiser Жыл бұрын
Phytoestrogen which soy milk has is very different to the mammalian estrogen in milk. Far more likely dairy milk will cause that effect. First result when i googled "estrogen in soy": "Soy is unique in that it contains a high concentration of isoflavones, a type of plant estrogen (phytoestrogen) that is similar in function to human estrogen but with much weaker effects. Soy isoflavones can bind to estrogen receptors in the body and cause either weak estrogenic or anti-estrogenic activity." So it appears that soy milk may even be beneficial to counter that effect you were concerned with.

Soy is bad all over the world for everything. It's being grown everywhere and put into everything because it's so bloody cheap and rubbish. It's even going into medicines now. They can't find enough places to shove it. Look in the supermarkets in the labels and you'll find it on everything.

@@MrTheoptimiser What about the rest of the fact that animal fat is what we were brought up on and we're made of it. More lies from these preachers of health. First of, all the vitamins in store bought are synthetic. Vitamin e in particular is derived from petroleum. The carageen they use as a thickener is found in two forms; degraded and food safe. The degraded version is purposely used to create inflammation in lab animals in experiments. The food grade when it reacts with the acidity in the stomach also probably stimulates the immune system. Any man made chemical with cause an adverse reaction somewhere in body. Making your own is your only option and even then you are dealing with antinutrients in the almonds. Don't believe me? Look up the studies yourself.
