Yesterday I had a thought, I looked at my lipstick and thought it was my favourite nude lip combo I’d ever worn. It was a $2 dollar elf lip liner, a €2.50 Wet N’Wild lipstick and a $6 dollar nyx gloss. I thought pretty much a $10 dollar, why do I even pay more when I’m super happy with my makeup?! I felt sick thinking of the fact I’ve happily paid $30 for one lipstick 😅 I love high end makeup but I’m definitely going to be more savvy where I can!

I really can't imagine spending £46 on a Charlotte Tilbury quad when I can get a Natasha Denona 5 pan for £24. I can see some CT palettes are pretty colours, and the packaging is luxe, but paying almost double to get one less shade... just can't do it. For less than the price of 2 CT quads, you can get a 15 pan midi ND, and that 15 pan is a purchase I could get much more excited by.

@gasparinha very good point. We don't have easy access to a lot of the indie brands that do amazing singles here in the UK, sadly. I would love to try some from someone like Clionadh, but I think by the time I have paid import duties and postage, it would be a hell of a lot of money for something I hadn't even had the chance to swatch and check I liked before buying. At least I can go and swatch an ND midi before making that kind of spend, and I will only buy ones where I like the majority of the shades, like you I resent paying for shades that aren't to my taste to get a few that are.

I love high end luxury brands. Charlotte Tilburys palette is the same look you can get from Color Pop! I say buy what you want. No ones ranking matters. There is more than one way to get the same look. It is not rocket science. It is just a way they get people to buy more. A scam people have not caught on to.

I don't think 99% of luxury makeup is worth it. There's so much amazing stuff out there and paying for a brand name or bougie packaging is silly to me. Now, the other 1%? Absofreakinglutely. Estee Lauder Double Wear, for example. There are some things that just can't be replaced, and I'll always spend the money.

Totally agree. I’ve strayed away from a lot of influencers who say everything is amazing, a lot of products just aren’t. And I agree I just don’t like the BareMinerals complexion rescue. I’ve tried to like it, but looks like it just sits on my skin. The Fenty Eaze Drop skin tint is far better.

It’s so interesting how makeup is so subjective. I’ve tried that essence highlighter multiple times, buffing it, brushing it, using it with a finger. idk if it’s bc I have dry skin but it comes off looking like a layer of powder on my skin. I got that purple Tarte mascara in a subscription box as a mini. I had no idea it was supposed to be a tubing mascara. I really like that it makes my eyes pop, but it definitely doesn't tube on me. My favorite thing about it is that it stands up to humidity in the south. Also stood up to a day of very watery eyes. I wouldn't pay $27 for it. However, if I catch it on sale, I'd pick up a tube to have on hand for summer. I've tried a couple of ulta products and loved them, just not any that you mentioned today. I don't know what the issue is with Bare Minerals products, but I have them on a never purchase again list. Something in them just doesn't react well with me. I've never tried any of the products that you spoke about other than the one mascara you didn't like. 😅 We don't have makeup stores here. The closest one is over the state line (not a terrible drive). Our Walmart has the smallest makeup section ever. The Mialni blushes are never in stock when I go. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on all the products. Fun video

I agree that there are levels of tubiness and we all have our preferences. If it’s too tubing those pieces get in my eyes as I wash it off. I think my favorite is the KVD or maybe the Hourglass.

The tartelette mascara is my favorite along with the tower 28 make waves mascara. The bare minerals tint did not sit on my skin in a flattering way. It never sunk in and looked skin like.

1 - I have many budget/mid-range palettes that give the Pillow Talk palette a serious run for its money. Ciate makes some amazing palettes that are not as cheap as a drugstore, but not as expensive as luxury. 2 - Matte concealers -- a small amount -- hold eyeshadow better than any dedicated primer I've ever used. I bought the Mac Paint Pot in Painterly and hated it. I do not understand the need to sell us a separate eyeshadow primer. I'm 44 and mine stays in place all day with just some normal concealer and a good base coat of my transition shade. 3 - Essence continues to get better but Miss A blushes are literally my favorite. I got their Lumi blush in Golden Apricot, and even on my textured skin, it's stunning. (It is NOT apricot in any way.) 4 - Never tried the Ulta brow stuff, but the new Cover Girl brow products are So. Good. Better than they've ever been. I highly recommend them -- especially the Nano Brow Liner. It's super, super good. 5 - I'm excited about the CaliRay mascara, but the new Essence is fire. Lash Without Limits, I think? If you haven't tried it, do. I've never enjoyed any Tarte mascara. Ever.

Catrice brought out some duochrome/multichrome single eyeshadows called space glam in purple, olive green and "white". Concidering the small amount you get (1 gram) compared to other singles (2,4 gram) the price (4€/£4/US$6) is relativly expensive (even though using up 1 gram of eyeshadow will still take quite some time, especially with an effect shadow). But drugstore brands don't have a lot of duochromes/multichromes and compared to high end brands it's still an acceptable price. I hope they'll bring out more shades. [Plus essence has some chrome flakes now]

If you want something to rekindle your love for eyeshadow even more, I think you might love Heaven on Earth by Sydney Grace. It would probably pair well with those singles. It's just the right balance of warm and cool, neutral and colorful. I do love sparkle and there is none in the palette so I pair it with my Noctilucent highlighter palette by Blend Bunny Cosmetics, and it is just to die for. Sydney Grace really is fantastic and does eyeshadow well.

Hey can you explain something about tubing mascara to me? I don’t understand how to remove it when you’re wearing other eye makeup. I do a double cleanse and the mascara partly comes off and then sort of comes off when I wash it? But it doesn’t have the ease of removal everyone always raves about in my experience. I also have worn it in the pool and it just comes off lol so I like just…don’t get it. Please send help 😅

If you sweat, cry, or splash liquid on a tubing mascara, it won't come off. But if you *soak* it in water - like hold water up to your eye with your hand or a cloth, it will then be able to be pulled off in tubes!

CT's quads are everyday workhorses. I like the shadows in combination, but also on their own. They work for everyday, but also for special occasions. The packaging looks chic & is light & compact to take on the go. With bigger palettes you technically get more bang for your bug, but I don't need that many shades, they're bulky and the packaging oftentimes looks tacky + the formulars are way too pigmented or too glittery for my liking. The looks you get out of these little CT palettes look so elegant & sophisticated, they really make your eyes pop. Nonetheless, $50+ for a quad is too much, just buy it on sale or as a rare treat. :)
