For the non drummers out there...the level of difficulty for Antonio's solo is off the charts.A truly skilled Pro

As a drummer, watching Antonio play is always a humbling experience. Enjoyed how he used his feet--during the solo. They were the consistent element, not changing much throughout. Almost playing the role of a bass player comping. This allowed his hands to play "melody" by improvising around, over or free of his feet. Just fascinating.

Sanchez's imagination is on the same stratospheric level as his technique, amazing because it's usually one or the other. Rare to see real rhythmic experimentation like this. He's definitely absorbed the concepts pioneered by Elvin Jones.

4:43 que extraordinaria sensación al escuchar el pedal con cencerro en el solo de Antonio, parece que este hombre tiene un cerebro dedicado a cada mano y a cada pierna.

Most creative, intense drum solo I've ever seen. Tells a story on the drums.....taking you to outer space at light speed. I gotta see these guys.

Creo que lo mejor que ha dado Mexico en la bateria, y como siempre tenemos que salir de nuestro pais para que se les valore, aqui en Mexico hay muy poca audiencia para el jazz, la cultura musical es muy baja entre la gente comun.

I concur. This is one of the most talented group of musicians I have ever watched. And yes you can tell these guys enjoy playing music together.

He is finally recognized with 2014' Birdman movie but all his work with Pat Metheny is artistically perfect (not enough to speak about his technique ^^).

I saw this trio at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The acoustics there are amazing, as they have these huge wooden upside down pyramids protruding from the ceiling. The sound bounces off and comes at you from all directions. To see and hear these fantastic musicians in such a place was nirvana. Antonio Sanchez may be the greatest drummer of all time. Pat and Christian are a rare breed as well.

As a Mexican I feel great pride in the Mexican drummer Antonio Sanchez, for his quality and for what he contributes to the unique sound of Metheny, which in the end gives us the universal language of good music.

Sanchez por lejos lleno de creatividad que refrezca mucho el jazz de Metheny. Gigante como Gottlieb y Wertico sus otros bateristas. Un genio.

There are so many exceptional drummers around that I feel it is ridiculous and pathetic to position any of them in top of another. Those interested in listing the great ones should not forget Elvin Jones, Art Balakey, Baby Dodds, Mike Rourke, and the legion of rock, soul, blues, Latin, etc. styles that are out there creating great music. Thank God for diversity!

I going to go out on a limb here and say that NO ONE SOLOS OVER THE SONG FORM LIKE ANTONIO CAN. I can pick up where he is in a song during his solo and then he throws some off kilter crazy time things and I get lost.....BUT HE DOESN'T. He and the rest of the trio know exactly where he is at all times. AMAZING SUPERHUMAN DRUMMING. The majority of drummers out there, no matter how great they are, know that Antonio good is just not in the cards for us mortals.
