I've noticed in your other videos, though this one illustrates it very well, that you seem to be a very practical person. Your approach to tools doesn't seem to be any different. You've got high end stuff where it's necessary and less expensive stuff where it's not. It's good for new technicians to see a professional taking this approach to tools so that they don't blow their entire load on the truck and end up in serious debt which is all too common in the automotive field.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow
@NoNonsenseKnowHow 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you hit the nail on the head. I definitely look at everything in life in a very practical way. I'm all about Snap-on and other high quality USA made tools but I certainly couldn't afford to have an entire tool box full of that. Especially since I have a complete set of duplicate tools edit by Home garage. Anything I get at work I usually will get a duplicate of it for my house since I do a lot of wrenching at home. Appreciate your comment!

I've definitely seen quite a few fellow co-worker throughout the years getting some very serious debt with the tool truck. I've also seen a few guys completely skip out on paying the man

@@NoNonsenseKnowHow You know, come to think of it, your name is NoNonsenseKnowHow, so my comment really wasn't that insightful. You've literally chosen a username that explains your practical approach to things. It didn't cross my mind at all at first though. Anyhow, I feel you. I'd love to have a toolbox full of truck brands, but I have other hobbies and commitments that need to take precedence over an ideal tool set. I don't wrench on cars for a living anymore, but my best friend is a shop foreman. He's constantly trying to explain to new guys how quickly the debt adds up. Some guys are receptive, but others have to end up underwater before they learn. It's a shame.

Chris…Thanks for the Tool Box Tour. I like to see how others are organized to get ideas for my Box. I have literally no Snap On (No Debts) and most all Craftsman. But I love Lisle and have some Gearwrench and Harbor Freight also. One Item I did not see, and would suggest, is a pair of Duck Bill Pliers. I use mine often. They are like Needle Nose but wider jaws. Give you more grip than Needle Nose. Great for those Spring type hose clamps. Craftsman 9-45087.

Loving your tool videos. @2:42. Ironic question. I'm over in England. I've never heard of harbour fraight (other than YT video references). Would you or one of your USA viewers mind explaining what it is. What they do and the +/- of their products? Would their tools be worth me trying to buy online for example. Thank you Sir, for the time you've taken to show how you do things. I don't know if you meant for your audience to be international. But I'm sure I'm not your only viewer outside the USA. Edit. @3:14 more irony. If I owned that gun barrel, I would almost certainly be arrested and be looking at jail time 🤣. Edit 2! @6:10. What do you mean by "Standard". I've been working on the tools for over 20 years now and I've never heard of that term. Not when talking about sockets. Is it an OEM manufacturer standard measurement of some kind?

Hey, thanks for checking the video out. Harbor freight is just a seller of tolls here in the States. They have their own line of tools that are mostly all made in China. Not really worth ordering them online I don't think. And standard is referring to SAE versus metric. A lot of people here call SAE standard.
