Just pick up my new bike 2018 Suzuki DRZ400SM. In this video I give you my first impressions and my overall idea what I have planned for this bike (ex. mods and issues that I am facing). Some likes and dislikes are also featured in this first ride, but in no way is this video a review about this motorcycle. This was one of my first times riding a Supermoto motorbike made by Suzuki.

Every time I get used to another bike and come back to the drz I'm blown away by how much I prefer it. It's truly one of a kind, mainly because of its reliability and maintenance.

The lack of technology is a major selling point IMO. My Gen6 ZX10 has more tech than the space shuttle...but is it really necessary? For a dirtbike/supermoto, I want simple. If I want high tech, I'll jump on my supermoto.

Can you IMAGINE.. a 6-speed WR450F built in similar fashion to the DRZ? Give it throttle by wire, cruise control, at least 3 gallon tank, a decent seat, and designed to run on the same maintenance schedule as the WR250R.......Holy moly. By the way, your eastern Manitoba fires are making some of us in the State south of there croak in the smoke. You want hotrod performance from the DRZ? Consider swapping for a Lectron carburetor.

Ashamed to say that I really wanted one of these as my first bike, but got scared off by the insurance quote. I’m fortunate enough to live in a low crime area… except apparently for DRZ’s lol. I got given the option of insure it for over 50% more than the cost of a ninja 400 (which surely noobs wreck at an alarming rate), or take an excess so high the insurance was kinda moot. I still regret not getting one tbh, but hey, when I have a bunch of years with no claims they’ll still be making the same bike! Love that you’ve got one, and can’t wait for the build vids - modding these is half the appeal!

ive always heard insurance is cheap on them due to them being. classified as a duel sport/moped
