About that scene in the previous episode where Reiner starts to talk about Historia and Eren "loses it", pretty sure is not directly related to Reiner mentioning Historia; but just the fact that he started to chit-chat like if they were all friends, because of this split-personality disorder thing... Eren just LOST the fight of his life and then got captured by the guys reponsible for the death of his mother and everyone else Eren has lost and so many others... and Reiner just starts talking about promotions (within the scouts) and if Historia may or may not have the hots for him... Pretty sure Eren would have reacted the same way if Reiner were asking him what shirt to wear or what color to paint his house. XD

Yeah, I think, how casually Reiner speaks, and the fact that the dialogue switches up from Reiner speaking as if he is a soldier, then slipping back into warrior, confused them quite a bit. I mean, I know I was definitely hella confused during this, and didn't quite understand that Reiner was hardcore disassociating. It becomes super obvious of course later on, but when you don't even know the real difference between 'soldier' and 'warrior', it's like WAT -- am I the one missing something?? When that information hasn't been made clear at all yet.

Erwin doesn't know anything more than the rest of us, it's just that Eren is the only one on their side with a titan form so Erwin sees that as their most important asset. Everyone does, that's why all of the scouts AND military police are out there chasing them down to get Eren back.

Yeah, that and what Retr0 said. Humanity had NEVER won against the titans before. Plugin Trost's wall was the FIRST time ever they conquered back territory lost to the titans, thanks to Eren's titan form. Erwin is very smart and is always thinking and planning several steps ahead of everyone else. Not only he knows how important of an asset Eren can be for humanity, but he also noticed long ago how important Eren seems to be to the enemy (stopping their attack on Trost without the Armored appearing to break the inner wall like they did on Shiganshina; or Annie apparently being entirely focused on just retrieving Eren and escaping with him)... Even if Eren wasn't of any use to humanity; Erwin probably thinks the enemy shouldn't have it. Not to mention the whole thing with the basement... who knows if having Eren will be even more important or needed if they (or to) get there.

They were in dire need of some kind of reinforcements; so they have to get some MPs to help them...

It's the same meaning but I think when he says that he's meaning please save us from ourselves, or something down that road. I find it funny because Armin realized Berthold weakness on the spot. In serious news, Bertolt's emotional breakdown is pretty sad due to how reserved he's been so far. Something in his tone struck something in Ymir. Also, Mikasa threatening both Ymir and Historia. And during that fight, Reiner and Bertolt were isolated (alongside Conny, Sasha, etc.) then learned of the supposed breach of Wall Rose, rode to Ragako and so on. Ymir was lying about her selfish reason. She was trying to save Historia from "rotting within the walls"/that something that would happen within the walls that Ange had theorized. edit: She lied because the best way to convince Historia is to make her think SHE's saving Ymir instead.

To help you guys better understand the relationship between ymir and historia without any spoilers - Ymir is a character who constantly lies to protect the people around her, on the outside she might seem really selfish and rude but she's the most selfless character in the show. Ymir is obviously in love with historia and sees her as someone similar to her because of the unfortunate similar backgrounds both have had according to ymir. Ymir wants to protect historia at any cost from dying inside the walls and wants to take her outside the walls with her to protect her but historia doesn't want ymir to sacrifice herself just to save her, ymir has always told historia to live a proud life only for herself and now historia wants ymir to do the same, she also wants ymir to live for herself and she says that she will always be her ally . But ymir still wants to protect historia from dying inside the walls, so she lies to her that she has been doing all this just for her own sake so that historia agrees to help ymir live for herself and go with her so that ymir can protect her. That's all i can say till this episode without any spoilers, next episode u will have a better understanding of everything between those 2...Can't wait for the season finale reaction

I can honestly say that this is by far my favourite react channel that I've seen so far. Most react channels just react to the ep and that's it. And I always feel frustrated by those react channels because of it and that it doesn't feel that authentic to me, due to I called it cards out of nowhere among other decisions those other channels made. But on this channel, Carlie and Ange truly make it feel like I'm seeing Attack on Titan for the first time again. I adore the theorising and I relate to it to much from when I first saw AOT. And making it one ep per video is a fantastic call for a show such as Attack on Titan. Please keep it up and I can't wait to see more of this channel's reactions.

She's a great fighter but she lets her emotions towards Eren cloud her judgement in my opinion. Thank goodness for Jean and the others. Just before they left Ehrmich for Utgard Castle (fully aware on the suspicions on Reiner and Bertholdt), Levi said to her to "protect Eren at the utmost of (her) abilities". She feels that she already failed once when she didn't take them down on the wall, she won't fail him again, even if it costs her her life.

Great point about notetaking: I was going to suggest last episode to maybe ease up on the notetaking as it takes your eyes off the episode and subtitles, and important info comes fast and quick in this show. I know a lot of people talk about Bert not talking much in s1 - beginning of s2. However, when you think about it, not everynody would be ok with being one of the biggest murderers of the history of humanity. Reiner just had another personnality which was born because of the guilt. Annie was just isolating herself and Bert just couldnt speak a lot and be that much dishonest. Once their true identity had been revealed, Bert was able to embrace more his true self, no more lying to himself. At least, that's my understanding of if. Sorry for the english's quality x)

I love how, in this episode, Historia realises that Mikasa has reason to attack Ymir and decides that between the giant monster and the 15 year old girl with a couple of pointy bits of metal, its so obvious to Historia that the smart money is definitely on the 15 year old girl, that she tells Ymir to immediately stand down. She right, but its just such a ridiculous state of affairs in universe.

When Rainer mentioned Christa, he also went on about getting promoted within the scouts and all that. I think at that point Eren hadn't noticed Rainer's fractured mind... or whatever mental condition he has and probably throught Rainer was mocking him. Which is an understandable reaction. Eren just learned that Rainer is personally responsible for the death of more than 250k people within the walls, including many of Eren's comrades and then he talks about deserving a promotion and gratitude for it from the very people he slaughtered. Eren was not the one that ate (part of) Marco. You got the timing confused. At the moment Marco died Annie, Berthold and Rainer still had no idea Eren was a titan-shifter so at that moment it would have just been another titan to them. And when they later saw Eren come out of his titan, they were just as surprised as everybody else (okay... probably a little less, since they knew that titan shifters exist, but not that Eren was one of them). Also after his first transformation Eren was on a single-minded anti-titan rampage and ignored all Humans, so why would he ignore everyone else and only eat Marco? Rainer isn't trying to flick them off, because he's using both hands to protect Berthold and keep Eren confined. He can't do that with just one hand, so trying to fight them off would mean leaving Berthold vulnerable. If you ever rewatch this episode, make sure to pause and zoom in on the horse when the MP is eaten on top of it. The look on it's face is unintentionally hilarious. :D The smiling titan broke her in half and then bit into her. Yep, Erwin still got more SUSUME! left in him. ^^

Your timing is a bit off as well regarding when Marco died: it was sometime during the "plug the hole with the boulder" operation. Marco helped save Jean (alongside Conny and Annie) when his ODM gear wasn't working. Just after Jean is saved and they're on top of the wall, they see that Eren finally picked up the boulder (and decided to go back him up). So Reiner and co knew that Eren was a titan shifter. But I agree that he couldn't have eaten Marco: all he did at that time was plugging the hole then passing out.

This is one of the best episodes of the show for me. It just made me fall in love with Erwin's character. He set aside his dreams and recognize that he is not of High importance. He is ready to give up on his life if that means achieving Victory. What a leader, What a legend

Consider writing key moments during editing and not during reacting. The "rot inside the walls" part is just another way of them saying that there is no future with them staying inside the walls instead of exploring outside. It's not a literal threat of rotting, it's more of a metaphor of them saying "if you stay inside the walls, you'll die there because there's no future for Humanity there".

That Mikasa scene at 14:48 is still one of my favourite of hers in the whole show, the voice actor did so well portraying the harshness of what she's saying - its not that she doesn't have love for Historia but as a means to protect herself from more pain she has to keep her heart closed off apart from her actual day 1s in order to fulfil their mission which in this case unfortunately means fighting Ymir n potentially Historia.

Bert as colossal kick the wall, Reiner bulldozed the 2nd gate, and Annie call the normal titan with her scream. This was mention by Erwin I think in that episode where female titan escape from their trap using her scream.

This was posted 6 months ago so my comment is pointless but for others watching who may have missed this, in their intro discussion they mentioned how Eren must have eaten Marco in order to turn into a titan but that obviously can't be the case since Eren was already a titan in the episodes prior Marco's death and also no the titan that crushed Mikasa was not the smiling titan from the first episode. Ironic that it did show up the very episode that you mentioned a resemblance to it but unfortunately it wasn't it (just got lucky)
