What a beautiful version of the Jerry Garcia classic. If you want to hear the original version, you can find it on Jerry Garcia's solo album called Reflections. The Grateful Dead often played it live throughout most of their career. Beautiful!

This is a Robert Hunter song. He wrote the music and the lyrics. It first appeared on his first solo album "tales of the great rum runners" in 1974.

@@robertmchugh4639, thank you for sharing & clarifying that. I find it vital that others know the 'original' source material given that so many have covered this tune & over the years & with complete understanding as to why! It's just such a well structured story /song! I've had so many of these, "for-instance" moments where you say to yourself, "I wish I would have written this song!" hence, playing it so often, you forget who actually wrote it to begin with..😂 This applies on so many levels, such as the case here & @ Paul Setmefree, no foul, no worries, we've all been there! Truly not meant derogatorily. Heck, they played together forever in the Grateful Dead but, Robert Hunter was responsible for many of their 'most-known' hits... "Truckin' " comes to mind! 😉 However, [imo] I do feel that, Ms. Norah Jones performes this so incredibly well, that it's truly hard to hold a candle to it! "One pane of glass in the window No one is complaining, though, come in and shut the door Faded is the crimson from the ribbons that she wore And it's strange how no one comes round any more" Genius..."one pane of glass in the window..." - genius. 😉 💜 🍀 👻 🎶 Love & Light to you all out there in KZbin Land. Stay well and stay strong during this incredibly difficult time.

Not many realize this is not a Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia song... Words and Music by ofttimes Dead lyricist Robert Hunter! He released the original as well, two years before Garcia's. Great song!
