The Patriots lost their first 2 Super Bowl appearances, before they ever won their 1st. Big props to New England for proving they are indisputably the best team in the NFL and the one to beat. Atlanta's defense gassed out to the no huddle offense. Classic Belichick / McDaniels to control the tempo of the game and take advantage of the momentum shift. Feel fortunate the Patriots didn't have Gronkowski, it wouldn't of been as close as it was. Lastly, plan on seeing the Patriots in Minnesota for Super Bowl 52. Hopefully against my Vikes, but regardless who plays them it's going to be take a tremendous effort and some luck to beat that organization.

I didn't know we were going to come back, if I could tell the future I'd get the lotto numbers. But I've seen this team come back against Baltimore in the playoffs, come back against the Broncos down 24-0. So I knew they could do it. To the classy Atlanta fans, the ones who were humble and respectful before the game, I do honestly feel for you. I know what it's like to lose a Super Bowl. I've been a Pats fan since I was 15 (1994) so I've personally lost 3 of them. XLII will always be the worst sports loss of my life, to lose the Perfect Season felt like someone died, and it still hurts to this day. What I'll tell you ATL fans is honestly, you'll never get over this. But time will make it sting less and less. And the best news is you've all suffered the worst loss imaginable and come out the other side.

i do have to say the atl fans are pretty classy for the most part......and try to ignore the drunk pats fans....they dont speak for everyone....been a pats fan my entire life...so since about 82ish...when i was 6 y/o....and i lived through the bears :( and the packers....( i was at the fog bowl during that run vs the steelers! awesome game) ...i lived through the shitty 4 win years......and yes....07 i would really trade all 5 wins for that 1 ....because nobody can take a perfect season from you...ever!... even if someone else does it...you are still tied with them! lol

I'm talking it was playing as a unit better than any d line ive ever seen. That game was more than just one lucky catch. The second loss, nobody brings up the fact that Gronk had suffered the high ankle sprain in the afc championship game. So everyone knows that is at least a 4 week recovery and more times longer. Gronk played in the Super Bowl only 2 weeks later and was mainly a decoy. So pats main offensive target was a decoy and it had a huge impact. Pats were clearly better than the giants that second loss. The first I think they were a lot closer than people give credit for.

The way the Patriots were coming back from that many points reminded me of the NFC Championship when the Seahawks went against the Packers and so when the game went into overtime which was the first super bowl game to go into overtime which was cool but when that game went into overtime and the Patriots got it to start it just came into my mind that they had all of the momentum plus the comeback like in that game so when they got it in overtime it came into my mind that the Patriots were gonna win I don't like the Patriots I was going for the falcons but that game in the last quarter just reminded me of that game etc. etc. etc. The last thing I want to say is GO HAWKS!!!

SB 20 was a complete wipeout so I got over it easy enough,plus no one was beating that frigging Bears team at that time. This is the best video I've seen on this topic so thanks! As a Seahawks fan I feel the pain of the SB loss all the time and it is fresh like it just happened. You see in the behaviors of the players that the loss weighs heavily upon them. Some Falcons fans pissed me off, so I was praying that they would lose because of how painful losing the game will be for them. So I am happy the Patriots lost and the Hangover is real, it will be like a cancerous tumor to the players on your team, the coaches of your team, your fans, and the Ownership of your team. I knew the Falcons lost when they decided to pass in field goal range. The Falcons were doing it when they were against the Seahawks with a big lead in the playoffs as well. That is so risky and it finally costed them. Just run the ball and the clock down, kick a field goal and take your 2 possession lead. Kyle Shanahan being the new head coach for the 49ers just makes me excited to see how the Seahawks will take advantage of his bad risky decisions.

The 3 third-down holding calls were on the drive that resulted in the pick-six in the 2nd quarter. If anything, those calls ultimately helped Atlanta, since it was 21-0 after that drive.

I am a Pats fan and a Red Sox Fan and a Bruins Fan. I live just outside Boston. My heart goes out to the Falcons fans because, if you know anything about sports, you know that the Red Sox found ways to lose for 87 years, the Patriots were the laughing stock of the league for over 40 years. My mother lived her whole live without ever seeing her beloved Red Sox win it all. She cried when Bill Buckner let the ball roll through his legs '86. Bottom line, I can't believe that the Pats won this game but regardless of that fact... none of us knows pain like the Buffalo Bills fans. I can't even fathom 4 trips to the Superbowl, in a row, and 4 goose eggs to show for it. I have faith that the Falcons will be back next year, they have some ridiculous offensive players, I think the Pats lucked out, but you take it anyway you can get it when you are playing for all the marbles.

What happened was that the Falcons couldn't sustain drives. The Pats doubled them up on plays from scrimmage (93-46) and time of possession (40:31-23:27). Atlanta's defense just plain got worn down. Remember the first Arizona game when our defense was on the field for 95 snaps? They were never the same after that. Even the best defenses will fail if they're left hanging out to dry. And the Falcons were facing ***Tom Brady***.

Before this game started, I said to my husband it would come down to age and experience. Atlanta was young and not ready for playing 4 quarters, they were to young to get it. The Patriots are older and had more experience. Even with some players having it be their first Superbowl... The Patriots TEACH you play 60 FULL minutes. ATL "D" was fucking dead by end of 3rd, they were playing on fumes after that, running when up 28-20 to kick field goal isn't a guarantee either though cause u never know of fumbles or holding penalty anyway or even missed field goal but that def would've been better to try for, I think too much confidence in Russel and in this one Ryan were part of both teams burial in those Super Bowls

As a pats fan I completely agree yes I have been spoiled in my 27 yrs as a fan but I still think about those 2 losses to the Giants that coulda easily been two W's so yes no matter what you never get over it

As bad as the Seahawks loss was against the Patriots in that SB, no way it's as bad as the Falcons loss. I mean blowing that lead or blowing a play at the 1 yard line are equally painful but the major difference is that at least the Seahawks can say they won a Superbowl. The Falcons still can't say that and who knows how much longer it might take in the most competitive conference, the NFC.

Speak for yourself. The Patriots have won 2 Super Bowls since their last loss to the Giants. I and many fan are over it. You can't change the past. The team has long moved on and overcame those close losses with spectacular wins.

so both the falcons and seahawks lost the only superbowls they went to first but Seattle won its second and Atlanta lost its second and following the superbowl Seattle lost a heartbreaking one and yesterday the falcons lost a heart breaking one but.... could this be the opposite of our franchise?

This isn't the falcons fault they lost this game. Im tired of all this talk about how this was the biggest choke in sports history. If you look at it logically you know that going in Alex Mack was playing with a fractured fibula he's the anchor to our offensive line then shraeder got hurt in the third went out in the fourth Jake Matthews played terrible it stands to reason or offense is going to slow down a bit and your can't blame it defense either they played well for so many young players and inexperienced players. The only reason we lost was because Kyle shanahan made a dumb call. Not getting that field goal is a huge momentum swing for the patriots and Tom Brady. You can't blame it on our defense at this point no defense in the nfl is stopping Tom Brady and the patriots at that point. You can't blame anyone but the coaching. Im proud of my falcons excited for what the future holds. The defense played great just ran out of gas because they spent way too much time on the field. To me the falcons are NFL champions they just need to go out there and make it official next season.

I've been a Patriots fan so long I remember going to games with four of my brothers at the old Schaefer stadium and beers were so cheap allof us could arrive sober and leave buzzed without having to take out a second mortgage. That being said, until we beat the Giants head to head in the Superbowl, that 2007/08 season still gives me nightmares the way it ended. I'll go to my grave believing that Eli was in the grasp and the Pats got ripped off.

Actually seahawks fans know pain of blowing a lead. They lost a 10 point lead to the Pats which was the previous comeback high amount. :-)
