The key to getting the most out of the Electro (especially the later models) is to sift through the (now vast) Nord sample library. If you need specific stuff like filter sweeps, you can easily use the free sample tool for creating your own. It's drag and drop, and the looping is super intelligent, no more hours trying to get rid of those loop clicks....eh?

Yep, the library and how you can customize the board is one of my favorite features of the Nord line.

I’m thinking that you might be able to do another ten or more minutes checking out the drawbars. Maybe explore the various possibilities for drawbar combinations with the Hammond Organ sounds. At the moment, I’m waiting for my first Nord to arrive by slow ground delivery. I got this same model. I think that Nord is easily in the top three of keyboards for their authenticity in their real Hammond-like sounds. I’m not sure what other keyboard gets better sounds in that category. They also have some of the best Rhodes, and Wurlitzer EP sounds. No complaints about their acoustic Grand Pianos either. Those are the three most important sounds that I want in a keyboard, and Nord is hard to beat. Thanks for the video!🎹🤙

I have the same NE6D for about 6 months. Definitely the best keyboard i ever had.I use ti have a NE4HP but did not like the keys at all. Previously i had a Kurzweil SP47, it was really nice considering the price. The best of NE6D is having instant access yo great sounds in a small package.

How does the keybed feel to you? Im a piano player mainly but wanting something for stage that can emulate Rhodes but also get some nice synth sounds. Really interested in the 6D 61 key but im hesitant that the keys might not feel natural playing anything that isnt organ haha

@@HeadMasterCheez Hi. The keybed is nice for organ and useful for synth (not that great). It definitely not nice for piano playing... If you came from a piano you will fell the keybed a little "plasticky" for sure.

@@aefonta ahh thanks for getting back to me! That's really good to know - I'm assuming the keys have a touch function at least? As in the sound is softer if you play lighter and louder if you play harder - I haven't heard that mentioned as a feature by any review yet 🤣

@@HeadMasterCheez Yes it is touch sensitive. It even has different sensitivity curves, so you can adjust it to your taste.

Like the organ and the Electric Pianos but the Acoustic pianos are a problem. None of them sound anything like the samples on the nord website and there is a tinny toy piano quality to the attack in the midrange that no amount of EQ seems to fix without wrecking the piano in the treble or bass. I've tried every High res sample piano nord offers (which is a total pain since they give you such little memory you have to delete things constantly to add them to the instrument) After a year of playing with this trying to get a good piano sound, I'm ready to move on.

I have a portable Hammond, but I'm looking for a keyboard that can do everything else: Strings, Horns, Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, Old school synths, etc. (Maybe I'm asking for too much in one keyboard). I'm wondering if this is the unit I should get. Or if there is another one you would recommend. I'm looking for something light and portable, don't need the weighted keys. Thank You

I’m torn between a Yamaha montage or a Nord electro which would you recommend?

Hard, very different instruments imo. The Montage can do a lot more in terms of being a full synth that also has "traditional" sounds. The Nord, just sounds great, is straight forward and fun to play. If you can, try to get to a store that has them so you can play them. No mod/pitch wheels or sliders on the Nord, no Super Knob, so the hands on modulation is quite different.

@@SoundsAndGear You're correct. Though I think the Electro 6 (and maybe 5) can respond to pitch bend and modulation via an external source.
