I believe that the simplest way to judge the downweight of piano action is to use a set of weights that are commonly used for acoustic piano action adjustments. I always start any tests by checking the downweight of keys (including the weight needed to trigger the sound). It is a simple as this.

Are the sounds the same as the original Nord Grand?

My outdated phone has 200+ times more memory btw. I wonder if the action now has the grand piano feel “step” that all kawais have. I sold Grand 1 because i couldn’t get used to the noise and and the placticness of the action. But the Nord has such realistic sounds that it’s very intersting if Clavia stopped lying about actions and realized that from the price tag the consumer deserves more respect)

How is the key texture on the NG2? Didn't find much info online, is it still an "ivory" type finish? thx!

Hi Douglas, thank you for this important video. On a previous video on the NG2 you mentioned that your fingers got tired after a half hour of playing. That got me really worried. I was thinking of trading the NG1 for a NG2 primarily since it has more capabilities. Since your first video I got this out of my head, now I am wondering again.

Hi Douglas, great video. I have the NS4 which is incredible however i would say 95% of the time i play Piano with pads/strings etc. Plus I dont play around with the endless amounts of settings with the NS4 manipulating or editing sounds either. Now that the NG2 is out, im drawn to it more being more dedicated to Piano. Is it mad for me to think of selling the NS4 and getting the NG2? I'm also contemplating holding out to see how the new Korg Grandstage x is going to fair when that eventually gets released.

Thanks! I don't think you're mad for considering it. The big difference I see is no organ engine, significantly less synth functionality (although there is still a little bit), and a little less portable. I love that they brought the power of the effects and layer control from the NS4 into the NG2. The Korg Grandstage X looks like a pretty legit board, but looks like it's less powerful on the effect side and possibly the layering features. My next video on the NG2 is around building a layered piano/pad sound, so hopefully that'll give you some more insight into those capabilities.

There's always the trusty Yamaha YC88

@@A106 That's the thing... Yes, you get organ, but it does piano/strings/action better than just about anything. Organ is just a bonus for me

@@_classic_rob_ Why not the CP88? Isn’t that much more focused on Piano and Synths?

It’s a pity it doesn’t come with integrated speakers.

I know, would have made it heavier though. If you can afford them, the Nord Piano Monitors are amazing and attach right to the back of the Grand 2.
