some of you may remember a skyrim mod that disappeared from the nexus mysteriously a while ago... you can still find it in mod form but the music is all compressed. Luckily I had the original MP3s the mod author posted alongside the mod, so I decided to put them up here for anyone looking to listen to without having to fumble around with decompling .wmx files

This music is a modern interpretation of "Nordic" culture. It subscribes to a romantic view of the past and would of been almost completely alien to ancient "Nordic" cultures who lacked instruments that could even nearly replicate the sounds you hear here.

Russell Johnson Guerrillia did not say they had no instruments. He alleged they lacked instruments "that could even nearly replicate the sounds you hear". Learn to read a sentence properly first, master historian, before you rail people for 'talking out the ass'.
@DesoloSubHumus
@DesoloSubHumus 9 жыл бұрын
CurtimusMaximus Then what does that logic say about Guerrilla? Neither the title or the description said this was *ancient* Nordic music. So, really, whether or not the old Nordic tribes had the instruments used to make this music doesn't even matter. It's Nordic in that it is written by the descendants of those Nordic tribes. Ulf Soderberg, Sephiroth, Tyr, etc. are all solo musicians and bands from Scandinavian countries.
@HermitOfBlackLake
@HermitOfBlackLake 9 жыл бұрын
Because that's a bit like describing Ed Sheeran's music as Anglo saxon. Because he is possibly descendant of an Anglo Saxon tribe.
@DesoloSubHumus
@DesoloSubHumus 9 жыл бұрын
And it would be, if he chose to call it that. It really does have nothing to do with the instruments or how listeners *feel* about how it sounds. Sure, back before people traveled all over the world, visiting and working in other countries on a regular basis and they didn't really mix much with other cultures, the instruments and general sound meant something insofar as classification, but it's the 21st century now, not the 16th century. Quite a few musicians don't even bother with labeling music by their ethnicity, as they don't bother trying to pigeonhole themselves.

I do not have Nordicism, Nordic blood. My ancestors are Maya, from the great Maya Civilization. Although I'm proud about my origins and so about my ancestors, I am so impressed, curious about the Scandinavian, Nordics. Their history is amazing, these people were more than regular, in my opinion, people. I'm sorry for my english but to be brief, there is something special about them, about their civilization. These people, along with the Celtes, the Germains, Gaulois, Huns Greek and others were physically so powerful, statistically speaking. I read many books about the Scandinavian Civilization (I'm not an expert, I never pretend that) and they really were a strong civilization. Sometimes I wish I could have Nordics ancestors but I did not have this chance. They are a Civilization that I'm obsessed about and all people today descending from them I find you lucky to have this gift of being from Nordic ancestors. Also, nowadays in our world since the beginning of the world, we have a population made from two gender: men and woman. However it is special how now people described a men or what I can call a manly man. We talk about this in my University Anatomy class. Today they are people, men, that behave like a ''tough'' person, which I find funny and pathetic, and this to appear manly, or who goes to the gyms everyday to have only big muscles to appear manly. I am a man, I'm 21, I play rugby, soccer, I swim and go to the gym. I'm 6'' 5' and even if I'm well shape for my training, I can't say I'm manly, like really manly because of my morphology of my body, from my genes. There are men that are men and men that are manly men. Manly does not have anything to do with having big muscle and acting like a stupid tough guy, not at all. A manly person is someone acting normally and you can see he is different. My point is the Nordic were very strong physically as we talked in our class, and one day in France there was guy who entered in a grocery store, maybe 6'' 6' but he appeared way taller than me, and even if I'm confident about myself and find myself manly, I saw the difference between me and him hahaha, and people felt it too. A guy with big muscle, too big, you know the kind of ''douchebag'', was near him and his muscles looks so tiny compared to the giant blond, blue eyes man (it appears he was from Iceland) . They were, are, these people, Nordic, strong naturally from their morphology and with severe (traits). At one time in my life I wanted big muscle to appear tough but after what we talk in class and after I saw that guy and the douchebag near him, I realize that no one can compared to these Scandinavian people. Seriously, they were courageous. Today people need guns to kill each other and proclaims themselves tough. All this anyway to say that Scandinavian Civilization is one of the Greatest. Amazing people with a fantastic history.

okey okey.... We all have a different view upon things and i respect yours. As for me, you being so buzzy about looking "manly" and comparing yourself makes me think the opposite rly. I lift to be strong because its my passion. The muscles it brings is just a plus.I have blondish hair with blue eyes and have a beard because alsmost my whole familie has it.(no beards for female tho) Not because i want to be or look "manly" perce. And i think most people here think that way. I'm pround about who i'm and where i came form but not in a superieur way. I have a lifting buddy who is turkish and boy he is strong as hell, we keep each other on our toe's. Just be yourself and dont try to feel better than others.....you actions can do that.;) My point, every man is a man in its own way. Got nothing to do with your looks or your confidents money or what every if you ask me. Be yourselfs and do things you like, Be fare and right! Don't compair or worry about others to much.

I am writing poetry inspired by verses/sections from the Hávamál, while listening to this. Here's what I have: "The hearth light grows dim; Before sleep, some last words, Some wisdom from him-- Sayings of the high one: Though cattle may die, Kin become elegies, And we breathe last sighs, Deathless, is glory. Your good deeds never die." I want to write another one related to this first one, or perhaps even more...I feel inspired.

Okay, hail the old Gods, I agree with, but note at 18:20, the sound of Gregorian chant! I honor ALL my Norwegian ancestors, including Christian ones, for their blood and sweat made me who I am too, and bequeathed to me my legacy. Good grief, there was a period of almost 300 years in Scandinavia where the old Gods and the new God mingled in the hearts and minds of the people before Christianity was the norm, a syncretism found in the British Isles and elsewhere too. When looking to God or Gods don't forget to look to the people who - by their actions and deeds - made them manifest in Midgard. No one group had a monopoly on honor or any other virtues connected to the human heart, and it's that heart which is the bottom line, the reason that any people has lived, loved, struggled, built, and endured.

As a full blood Norwegian I can vouch for the SPIRIT of this music - percussive with choir-like drones. I can see myself gliding down a fijord between the craggy, mountainous walls on either side. The instruments may not be ancient but their sound is in the vein of the Norske soul (which is the point). You may also like my friend, Ostein's music here. He goes by the name of Amethystium. He also encompasses this particular spirit and he's Norwegian as well. Ufda!

The track that begins just before 42:00, around 41:55, is "Dark Father", the track right after it (around 49:44) is "Dark Garden", and the one the begins around 1:12:57 is "Abyssanctum", all by Sephiroth; since most are still unknown. But I think it's safe to say most, if not all, are done by Ulf Soderberg. Also, great upload! This certainly is great for getting work done and meditating to.

17:35 - 20:47 This piece always gets to me. It matters not what my state of mind is at the time; I always pause and give it the respect it deserves by listening...and feeling. It's so deep, dark, and hopeful at the same time. This piece can either be the calm before a rising storm or the last embers of a fire slowly dying after having burned everything in its path. This piece made me realize that hope and tragedy are close cousins.

And 21:27 - 23:08 God, this gets to me as well. I can imagine an ancient warrior either returning home triumphant into the arms of his beloved or the same warrior cut down in the field of battle and taking his last few breaths while looking up at the sky. What would he be thinking about as he lay dying and bleeding? No matter the outcome, he fought hard; he fought well; and he fought with honor. It's finally over.

Thanks to the glorious lies and misgivings of the Hollywood genre, I can honestly say thee Vikings are the most misunderstood culture in the entire history of Humanity. Being an Asatruar myself, as well as an eclectic Yahwehan, I feel like this music embodies the true spirit of the Vikings and the Norsemen in general as they really were, not as Hollywood and mislead American culture would have you believe. Even the movie Thor, based on the ever popular comic book series, had so many lies and misinterpretations I found much of it laughable. I looked at your page and am not a gamer and such, but thanks for giving us something that is closer to reality concerning the ancient Norsemen.

I feel a painting coming on here. Memories of my trip from Oslo to the North Cape. Dramatic, looming rocks and eagles. So fantastically brilliant, I was agape with the wonder of nature. For those who saw my post with a piece of poetry in it, I added to it at the beginning, so here's the slightly revised version. Here, Loddfafnir departs some of the wisdom with which he's been imbued, upon another man (perhaps his adult son or something) "I ask, Loddfafnir, I've travelled through the north; Battled 'gainst great fears! But what of fearful Death?" "Our hearth's light grows dim; Before sleep, some last words, Some wisdom from him-- Sayings of the high one: Though cattle may die, Kin become elegies, And we breathe last sighs-- Deathless is glory. Your good deeds never die."

It's because the majority of Muslims are middle eastern. But that being said, saying you hate muslims is somehow a lot worse than saying you hate catholics. Racism is just a buzz word now used for shock value. Islam is an issue, it's not a religion anymore its a political movement that punishes you for having different beliefs. Not gonna lie I really hate muslims, but I don't hate all middle eastern people, but I'll still be labeled as a racist.

this is for everyone..being a nordic is a state of mind. When you get it, there is no turning back. i was born in north but i was lost so many years. finally in age of 27 i totally got it what "being a north" means.
