Folkesange is my favorite too... it's a work of art 🤍
@myrkurАй бұрын
Thank you all! The instrument is a nyckelharpa. The song is about a maiden who falls in love with a man who already loves someone else and decides to end her life to meet him in the afterlife instead. Rough English translation: When I was in my eighteenth year There was a beautiful boy who fell onto my mind Thee,I thought,to own forever But this my thought instantly vanished There was another maiden in his embrace He likens her to a blooming flower All though I hold my father and mother so dear And siblings and friends who loved me here This love does go above anything else
@napuluzzioАй бұрын
@@myrkur aaw nice thx ❤️ even if it is contradictory, because ending one's life and believing one will go to the afterlife makes no sense, if then we talk (fantasizing) about Valhalla then I think it is possible.
@philwragg9756Ай бұрын
yes I agree if you take your own life you go niflelheim, not valhalla!
@MichaelJohnson-kq7qgАй бұрын
@@napuluzzionothing contradictory about it, you just have to accept that different people in different times have had different ideas about what might happen after we die.
@napuluzzioАй бұрын
@@MichaelJohnson-kq7qg you don't go to heaven because "I had a different experience" you go to heaven because I did the will of my God in this case I believe in Jesus Christ, now your reasoning is for those who don't believe in anything, and let themselves be carried away by emotions, but remember that emotions lie, only God doesn't lie. sorry for the tradition I'm using the translator.
@MichaelJohnson-kq7qgАй бұрын
@@napuluzzio well that's a silly post, it's a traditional song that doesn't come from an author that believed the same mythology you do. That doesn't make it contradictory, which was what you claimed. It just makes you small-minded.

Nordic people were already Christians when this instrument was invented...

@@Erc112 While that is true, it sounds very similar to the Viking bowed instrument, the 'tagelharpa'. So your critique is misplaced.
