I hope you all are doing well, and I hope you enjoyed this short but sweet melt. This is the 100th video of The Growing Stack! Since I started this little idea I had of wanting to melt metal and share my experience with the world, I guess I never really thought I would see this day. While it’s nothing truly special, it’s definitely a hallmark for me to realize what I’ve made and a launchpad to see how far I can grow it. I love you all, thank you for everything so far, and here’s to the next 100! 🎉🍻🥂

Love these!!!!!! always nice to see a new video from you. an interesting idea I have is to 3D print a like 5x8 rectangle that is like 6mm thick or so, then in the middle of it have a raised logo of a band or a jolly roger. Kind of like a little metal flag. I figure you might be able to cast it easier than a mold casting.

I just saw a video where a guy melted aluminum with a fresnel lense from a projection tv ... Could be a game changer for free smelting...

Could be interesting casting the same into a bucket of ball bearings. No water-orbeez trapped inside, still a nice color contrast.
@lesliek37945 ай бұрын
Those always look so cool. They kind of remind me of the ones done by guys who pour aluminum into ant beds. What I don't understand is why the Orbeez don't melt? burn up? Yeah, I know there's water in them, but melted metal is a heck of a lot hotter than the water. Anyway, great video!

well, this might just give me the push to get into metalurgy....

I wonder if it would ve possible to somehow make or buy plaster spheres/balls? As you could use them like the orbeez but the plaster will wash completely out. And when the plaster is dry, no spalting. As they use for metal casting anyway. Maybe to make your own use molds like they have for ice or something? IDK, just an idea I had. Cool project as always!
@sinakaedwards20094 ай бұрын
Dude, I came up with another idea for a mold casting. You could do 3 medals like the Olympics. If you can 3D print them. You could use Nordic Gold, Aluminum Bronze, and some form of silver for the other one. Just a suggestion but the idea of Olympic inspired coins or medals would be cool.
@Sphendrana5 ай бұрын
I really like how it looks when the orbeez are still inside it. Like little gems! I wonder if there's some way to stabilize them so they won't shrink. Maybe casting in resin? Is that possible with orbeez?

Since the melting temperature of zinc and tin is so much lower than copper, how does it not vaporize before the copper melts. Always wondered.

Hey my friend !! How are you?? staying cool I hope. Another great video!!! Love the orbeez stuff.. ,akes really cool designs..turned out great... do the orbeez that are stuck shrink and fall out? was curious. Well I await your next video and be safe out there in the heat and doing the melts!!!!

@@zazz69ed thank you brother! I’m good, trying to stay cool, but Arizona is brutal this time of year. Yeah, the ones that get stuck dehydrate and fall out(especially in this environment) and the sculpture is left perfect. Glad to hear from you and I hope all is well with you!!

My main issue with orbeez is I don't understand what they're for XD Like what do you do with them now?
@TheGrowingStack5 ай бұрын
You can drain all of the water and let them dehydrate and they shrink back down. Im not sure how many times they can repeat that process though.
@JimFinlayson5 ай бұрын
Very cool video. Congratulations on the 100 episodes. Do you have to worry about the zinc boiling off before the copper begins to melt ?

I wish they weren’t, but life gets in my melting way more than I’d like it to. Believe me, I’m trying my best to do what I love and make more melting content as much and as consistently as I can, but sometimes work and “life” derails me from what I want to do weekly. I am working on it though I promise. Thank you for sticking with me!!
