Arizona | Agua Caliente Road Trip with my Girlfriend

Eva and I go overland van camping in the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona. We took this trip on Thanksgiving weekend 2020. I was driving my 1999 Chevrolet van with the Quigley 4x4 conversion and she was in her Toyota Tacoma truck with a new racing suspension setup. Our destination was Agua Caliente Road. This is an easy overland adventure on a dirt road about an hour to the west of Phoenix.

Sterling, Really enjoyed your nice video of a neat area. I explored the Agua Caliente road while figuring out the route Cannonball Baker took in 1914 to establish the first transcontinental crossing on a motorcycle. He first rode northeast out of Yuma across what is now part of the Yuma Proving Grounds, then southeast until he could follow the Gila River to the Agua Caliente route. He overheated, ran out of gas and just made it to the west valley of Phoenix. The locals packed him in ice and when he felt better, gave him two meals. The next day he was on his way.

Hey Sterling! I first watched your video about Glamis. I love to get other people's opinions and thoughts about it. I'm one of the duners and live in AZ. As I went down tour Channel rabbit hole I came upon you and Eva. I swore up and down that I knew both of you. As the week went on I still kept thinking about it. OMG. I just found this channel lately and have been thoroughly enjoying the videos. Then I saw this video with Eva for the first time. I was really puzzled as she looked so familiar to me. I kept thinking wherever I had seen her before. Was she an actress? Was she someone I personally knew? Was I imagining? Then a day later it hit me suddenly. Camper van is cool, I would like to go that route but, with a small bike on the back. I just did a few trips on the DR650 over the Gillespie bridge but heading south from Phoenix on old US80. An amazing road. Had coffee in Ajo, and great Mexican food in Why, AZ at a place called "Grannies Kitchen" a beautiful part of the state. Quality video as always. Thank you.

There are literally hundreds of geocaches along Agua Caliente and hundreds more on the nearby roads. Did you stop at Sundad, the ghost town/ruins of a tuberculosis sanitorium? I hear it's pretty interesting and have yet to check it out. It's not far off Agua Caliente Rd as you near Hyder Rd. Thanks for the fine video.
