I live in the Midwest now. But, nice to see Anza Borrego again. Back in the late 1970s & early 80s I spent many a weekend exploring that desert. Back then it was in an International Scout II and on a Suzuki SP370 dual sport motorcycle. Thanks for the video. Brings back good memories.

Just found your channel. I have a te300i 2022 Husky. GREAT BIKE, really like your bike as well. I went back and forth on that one and mine. I have plates for mine and it works great for that type of day riding. I like that you show the camp life in your videos. Camp setups, cooks, drinks, etc, that's all a big part of the fun for me so I appreciate you showing all that. A lot of guys just show the riding. Which is fine, but the camp life is a big part of the experience for me and I like to see how others do it and live a little through them 🙂 Keep them coming!

Hi Sterling. Interesting how you bought a smaller bike. I had a BMW F800GS, fully kitted, and I sold it for a KTM 390 Adventure. I feel the KTM, being so much lighter, is much easier to handle. It can go pretty much anywhere, and may lack in speed, but how often do we use the speed on small roads. I live in Scotland, and spend my time riding the tiny lanes to amazing places, so I think my switch to a smaller bike will pay off. I love your channel and you are so professional putting those stories together. Enjoy the 701!

Congratulations on the new bike. This will open up many new places and adventures for you. Buying slightly used, with extras is the only way to go. For me the 650 (701) size is perfect. I can still ride to places on the road, yet I have the off road ability to get way back to beautiful remote areas. I am always riding alone, so I have to be able to pick the bike up with out help under all conditions, the 650 size fits the bill. I'm looking forward to new adventures with the new bike. Well done!

Went from an 1190r to the 701. Opens up so much more country to ride. You will need to carry a fraction of stuff you usually bring through.

Put spacers between windshield and headlight cover for the top bolts, longer bolts are required. That would fix the issue with shield being to close to your head. Consider also getting a more robust skid plate. I am using axp racing. Those two items would complete the build for me.

Welcome to the Husqvarna family, hermano. I currently have a 2019 FE-450 that I absolutely love. They are wonderful bikes. As far as the suspension is concerned, you might want to have a specialty shop work on it as Huskies tend to be race oriented, making them a bit stiff for simple adventure duty.

Very nice choice Sterling! You might want to adjust the sag/preload/rebound for your size/weight. The previous owner could have been 6'4 and 240lbs! I like the extended range it offers. Looking forward to more adventures!

Good choice with the 701 LR...I got one myself for the save reasons you cite. I'm loving it myself...have it rigged up with soft panniers etc for a bit of motorcycle camping and long distance travel. If you have not done so yet...check out the status of the clutch slave cylinder...they are almost guaranteed to fail from new. The O ring gasket swells up and you loose the ability to Engage the clutch.. Mine died within 30 miles from new...dealer replaced several parts to fix. Most people replace it with an Oberon slave. The 2021 models apparently have finally fixed it. Also get the recent front fuel line replacement done...as is there are two places where the lines exiting the front Tank are prone to wear.

Hey Noren, I also came from an R1250GS to a Husky 701 Enduro. I can totally relate... Whle I loved the GS, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Husky... I am doing more of my riding on dirt, and the Husky just brings a smile to my face... You described riding in the sandy wash, and that is where the Husky shines. If you haven't already, turn off the traction control and then you'll see what the bike can REALLY do, it is quite dramatic how much the traction control backs off the power. But if you want more fun, check it out.

Yes, I am loving the bike so far, it is definitely a lot different that the GS. I haven't quite figured out how to reliably turn the traction control off yet. Sometimes it seems easy and other times harder. Plus I think you need to be going at least 2.5 mph in order to dip that? Is that correct? Not always easy to do in some situations.

The KEY is to start the bike, and let it roll forward about 3 or 4 ft to calibrate the ABS.... THEN. stop and then you turn it on or off by pressing the button for 5 sec.

Nice ride and dig your culinary adventures just as much...see you ride without gloves...surprising.when you get tired of dragging your boot over the seat when you mount...I'm sure that side stand will support you on a "horsey mount from the peg"...keeping that seat from getting beat up from the buckles on your boot...you being a seasoned GSA rider as myself.

Nice bike with a great video. I'm am old guy with a KTM EXC 250 that's finding out I like my front and back clickers out (soft) pretty far which allow more of the travel to happen at my speeds which are slower than "race pace." It's less jarring.

BTW... I have a 690 and the best investment I've made is to buy the springs for my weight with gear. It's ridiculous how under sprung these bikes are... Also, when I did the forks, I removed the pre-load spacers and went with the 2.5wt fork oil, based on Slaven's recommendation. Also, consider the X-trig. It's now like I've added 2 inches of stiction free travel.
