Norfolk Southern 112 approaches WB Jct with empty wells and autoracks on the Kansas City District

02.25.25 Carrollton, MO - Norfolk Southern Kansas City District, Milepost 210
NS 211 westbound on the Kansas City District slows to a stop approaching WB Junction on the old Wabash line. A NS double stack had just passed and the dispatcher not only had to create some separation between the 2 NS trains, she also needed to pass a westbound in front of NS 112 so NS 112 could transition onto main 1 of the joint line. Slowing to stop west of Carrollton gave me chance to get multiple angles, do some pacing then chase the tail end under the bridge. Be on the lookout for the tractor blowing the stop sign at the 3-way stop.

A location I'm familiar with. WB jct. must have been busy for that NS train to move so slowly. A shot of WB jct. would have been nice, but you can't have everything.

@edfoulks8047 Watching trains at WB jct. isn't easy. The road there has no shoulders. Also, as much as I love trains, I don't like standing next to the tracks. The trains move so quickly in that area, it's scary.

@@johnfitzpatrick3094 yep, that's the challenge! No good place to pull off and the places where I could set up are too far away to get good audio with the busy highway there. And I'm with you, if you see a close up ground shot from me, that's where the camera's at, not me!
