Awesome footage….. My wife and I just bought a drone and we’re learning how to not crash it. Lol One KZbin to another what I’ve found if you make your videos over 10 minutes the algorithm will favor them more. Like I said you have amazing footage.

Much appreciated and congrats on the drone! It's a great hobby, lots of different types of drones and styles of fliers...and it's just an awesome community. As I encourage everyone who gets a drone, if you haven't already I would recommend getting your FAA Part 107 certificate. Lends a little street credit when people approach you with questions about "what are you doing" and I think it makes you an all around better pilot having awareness of airspace and regulations. Thanks for the algorithm tip, I'll have to give it a go! Thanks for watching and can't wait to see the drone shots in your vids👊

I didn't know they replaced that bridge. Now that there's GPS, I'll probably be able to find that bridge. Every time I looked for it, I would get lost.
@edfoulks80472 күн бұрын
Sure did! I'm mad at myself because I somehow deleted photos and video (both air and ground video) of the old bridge when it was still in place over the tracks. But, I am happy they didn't just destroy the old bridge. The other tiny one lane wooden bridge just to the east (closer to Bosworth) was also torn down around the same time. No preservation and no new bridge in that spot. Thanks for watching👊

Great flying! Thanks for not doing Loop-dee-Loops.😉 It's going to take an Army to Prep & Paint the Truss & Trestle sections. Wonder why the RR bunched up the mid-train helpers. I would think 2 mid-train units & two pusher units but maybe the route doesn't have steep grades on the way the LA. Anyway, Thanks!
@edfoulks80472 күн бұрын
LOL, thanks for watching Carmie. The FPV drone loop-dee-loops aren't really my thing, I like to keep it a little more simple! I'm no expert here but my guess is they put the DPUs in the middle instead of the end because of "slack action" - these container trains are lighter and those who build the trains are less concerned with the amount of tension on the couplers because the train is less heavy therefore less weight to pull. For really heavy trains I think they want to avoid too much pull on the couplers so they would put the DPU at the end to "push" reducing the tension on the couplers...but that's only my guess. It could be as simple as they just took what started out as 2 trains and combined them into 1 big train👊

American railroad infrastructure was never built with trains 3 miles long in mind! Running trains this long is a disaster just waiting to happen!
@edfoulks804710 күн бұрын
Tru dat! When they bridge was built in 1918 I'm not sure the engineers envisioned a bridge that would eventually carry between 60-80 mile long trains per day well over 100 years after it was built...or maybe they did??? Thanks for watching👊

Nice video Ed! Can you believe they're trying to ban the DJI drones in the US?
@edfoulks804710 күн бұрын
Not just drones but ANYTHING DJI...all under the guise of a "security" risk. Yet no one can articulate even a general "security" threat they pose. Clearly it's really about protectionism. On a level playing field US drone manufacturers can't compete so they've turned to Congress to eliminate the competition for them. I would LOVE to buy an American made drone but the reality is no one else can match the quality, value, and ease of use of DJI products. Rant complete and with that said, thanks for watching man! 👊

Why are there so many rusty bridges in the US? Is there no long-term planning or is everything just about short-term profit?
@edfoulks804712 күн бұрын
She's an old lady, construction finished the same year WWI ended. The railroad has plans to add another bridge next to this one but the old bridge is still structurally sound and as I understand it the old bridge will remain in service even after the new bridge is built. Thanks for watching👊

I would have thought with all the upgrades BNSF has done that bridge would have double-tracked by now.
@edfoulks804722 күн бұрын
Yep, as I understand it this is one the last remaining single tracked sections of the Southern TRANSCON. In November 2022 BNSF approved money for a new single track bridge to be built just to the east of the existing bridge with the intent to use both bridges. In May 2023 they cleared the area for the new bridge then nothing else happened and hasn't since. I haven't seen anything on why it was halted or when the project might resume...if ever. Thanks for watching👊
