Norfolk Southern manifest train passing beneath 4th street bridge. Emmaus PA.

This is a catch of a Norfolk Southern manifest train westbound towards Reading. This line was constructed in 1859 as the East Pennsylvania railroad. This connected the two cities of Allentown and Reading PA. The line would be leased by the Philadelphia and Reading railroad in 1869 and would remain under Reading control until its merger into Conrail. It is now known as the Norfolk Southern Reading line. The neon sign belongs to the local movie theater. Thank you for watching. 6/28/24

That is the closest I've ever seen a theater to a set of train tracks. Surround sound before it was popular. Nice down on especially the utility poles that look like monster size toothpicks

I've seen quite a few movies in there. It's a great theater and it's byob if that's what you're into. That being said you still hear the train roaring by, horns and all.

Good evening Tad. I am a subscriber of his channel. Some of his videos have been a great help in figuring out locations I've gone to. He has one where he found the Windsor Castle tunnel that was built by the Allentown and Auburn railroad. I was just in Shamokin a few weeks ago for the anthracite heritage festival. Had lunch at Lost mined brewery. Delicious. Would love to explore the Reading grade that runs along 61 heading out of Shamokin. Thank you for the kind words and support. Great video, why do American trains (especially freight) seem so slow? Most travel at least 70MPH here; sometimes even faster if the waggons have a higher top speed

Good question. I unfortunately do not know the answer to that. This particular train here had been waiting for a clear track so it was just getting started. Top speed on this line is 55. I don't often see them going that fast though.
