@jayrobson88 I was responding to @deadheadsth70's comment. Hypothetically, after the Tonight Show was no longer an option for Conan, he could have shoved Jimmy Fallon back out to take his old show back. Conan's Late Night was a successful show and generated plenty of ad revenue for NBC, so NBC would have been glad to have him there. But he didn't do that. He didn't shove Jimmy out the way Leno shoved him out. As far as his actions go, Conan has demonstrated himself to be a genuinely good guy.

Lenos show took a ratings drop when he took over for letterman, so of course the ratings would drop when Conan took over. It took leno a year or two to bring ratings back, same thing when letterman took over for jonny carson. The drops happened because people don't really like to see things change. We don't know this cuz it didn't happen but maybe if Conan got an extra few months, the ratings would have gotten back to normal or better but we will never know.

why were people getting so angry over something very trivial. I prefer Conan's brand of comedy (and other comedians as well) over Jay Leno, Adam Carrola, or Jerry Seinfeld, but it does not make them awful. (sorry for misspelling the last names.) According to many, Leno was a great stand up comic in the 80's/70's --apparently he was really funny once. Watch who you think is funny and the show you enjoy. I am always surprised at the anger and nastiness in the comments here and elsewhere.
