It fits the fact that it's a random encounter, and the fact that the team is most likely very focused on defeating whatever enemy there is. Edit: to clarify, this makes it feel more like a skirmish, everyone's attacking an enemy and doing whatever necessary in order to swiftly defeat their enemies

Doodlebug Four Exactly! "Doctor" in particular is a great example of that. The PSP's version OST for example is good on it's own merits, but it lacks the "dreamlike" atmosphere. Which makes it less distinctive (and fitting IMO) in comparison.

N8 PlaysAGame the psx version ... yes The psp version fixed a lot of the issues like the stupid world map . I suggest you try it . If you’re talking about the psp version , well , it just wasn’t your cup of tea . Patch isn't perfect though. Battle themes don't loop properly, bunch of tracks are missing due to PSP version have less tracks than the original, and there no prebattle music during boss fights.
