It was the most sensitively REAL, magnificent series I have seen in a long long time . Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar- Jones were SENSATIONAL! ...Congratulations to ALL!!!

I expect America will be calling, but I hope Paul is never made to lose his Irish accent, which is so wonderful.

To get a variety of roles he will have to be able to do a good American accent. Dominic West is an example of an English actor who had to do that for his roles in The Wire and The Affair.

Having watched Paul being interviewed by so many different people with different angles, I am so impressed with Paul’s stamina! He manages to keep a sense of humour and retains his charm! That is it, of course, he has charm in truck loads & this is why we love watching him. He is also very intelligent which will serve him well in his future career. It has been a pleasure to watch him after so much mediocrity on television. Thank you Paul for restoring our faith in the artistic world.

I've watched Normal People five times. Am I normal (smiling)? I love the show so much and I'm so hoping that they'll do a 2nd series with all of the same characters. MaryAnne's character is very much like I was when I was in high school. I was a loner as well and dressed very different from my peers (1940's Pin Up). MaryAnne and I have very similar personalities, the two of us, I've always felt that I was misunderstood and just didn't 'fit in'. . I also fell in love at that age and I loved him until the day he died. My 'Connell' passed away in a car accident right after we had graduated from college. He had fallen asleep at the wheel. He was a good man and was very kind hearted like Connell. This series brought back so many lovely memories of him and the bond that we had between us. My life changed forever when he died. I feel lost without him. . Even though I've never been to Ireland, I've always wanted to go there. My family lineage on my mothers side comes from Ireland. My mother had three daughters, all of us were born with red hair and blue eyes. . I would love to someday visit Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo! It looks so wonderful and quaint! Is MaryAnne's family house also located there? The mini-mansion where they shot the film? . I'm going to hold on to my hope of them making a 2nd Series with the two main characters MaryAnne and Connell !! I would love to see how their lives together unfolds and hope that they marry and settle down somewhere? ❣💖❣💖❣💖

Thanks for the replies. I asked because I knew a few Irish guys from Roscommon and they didn’t speak as clearly as this, and I sometimes had difficulty with their accents. To me (as an English person), this guy sounds like Dara O‘Brien and a few other famous Irish people, so was just wondering if this is an Irish equivalent of RP. Clearly just a bit of a neutral accent then.

It's nice, but lacks depth and any sort of subplot or truly developed support characters. The initial break up they have is totally implausible too. A non crisis on which the story pivots. He's moving back to Sligo for two months? Weak. Mediocre show with good acting
@ajrein42264 жыл бұрын
no
@CrissM74 жыл бұрын
The breakup wasn’t about him going home for two months. It was about him being too insecure to ask her to stay with her for the summer, so he suggested they see other people, not because it’s something he wanted but because it’s something he just said, maybe hoping she’s deny it and suggest they stay together. She also has issues with her confidence and wants to do whatever she thinks will make him happy (she’s said this many times) and so she agrees thinking this is something he really wants. It’s not about him not being in Dublin, it’s about a huge misunderstanding that didn’t have to happen if the characters were in better states of mind.
@independentandfree64664 жыл бұрын
"It lacks depth". Crikey, what I saw was the opposite. It has had Normal People crying, as they remember their own in depth experiences.
