When a person dynamites a pond to kill fish, they are arrested and put in jail. When the same is done to people, the perpetrators are put in front of an International Court who cannot seem to decide if this is illegal or not.
@sandisithebe6737 ай бұрын
That is not the whole story actually. South Africa's request from the court is basically two fold. Argument 1: We accuse Israel of committing genocide. Or the is a danger that then are going to do soo. Argument 2: Because of this argument. We request a restraining order to stop or prevent Israel from doing what they are doing. Israel obviously denies all the accusations. Soo the judges okay. We think something is going on soo the trial we continue. In the mean time Israel will be under probation to make sure they are playing by the rules

Ofcourse I can't claim to know why they ruled the way they did, as an observer, i can only speculate like everyone else. I really do think I'm giving the more credit than they actually deserve but I think they did pretty well considering. They have clearly in their ruling given Israel specific actions to carry out which put Israel in a political and legal bind. Which should give Israel supporters pause but is really unlikely as western politicians seem to be set on supporting them no matter what. We all here wish for this nightmare to end this is a tiny step in that direction.

I am mostly appalled by one judge who went "full nationalist" (Israeli) instead of being impartial or being pro-law. I mean the ICJ decision a) does not even ask for a cease-fire, b) simply ask not to commit genocidal acts and to condemn genocidal propaganda (eh... of course), and c) demands that sufficient humanitarian aid be allowed and recognizes that the people of Gaza is in danger as we speak (humanitarian crisis to say the least). So how does a judge say no to that (?!), just to suck-up to their nation or government! That Israeli judge might make some nationalist allies within Israel, but how will other judges, lawyers and jurists view that judge after that.
@jacquelinedurban14617 ай бұрын
The judge was using legal language. It was a damming indictment of Israel. Israel are utterly losing the case and what matters is that it can be used against countries, like the UK and US, who are selling arms to Israel. If they continue to do so they can be legally called to account for knowing complicity in genocide. It hasn't immediately made things better for the people of Gaza, which is what matters more than anything, but it truly matters.

Despite this historic decision by the ICJ, the Western powers that be have currently paused funding to a body of the UN that supports Palestinians. The UK, Canada, Italy, Australia, Finland and a few more countries have paused funding to the UNRWA which provides aid to Palestine. The charge comes from Israel, who accuse the UNRWA of working with Hamas' on the 7th October. The specific example they give is of staff members of a UNRWA funded school celebrating the 7th October attacks. When you think humanity shines through South Africa and the ICJ the Western world sinks further into depraved inhumanity. This act alone shows how complicit Western powers are in the domination of those in the Middle East.

Thank you Katie Helper for this! Can the following PSA sit here to warn some folks? PSA: US gov't Employees & Contractors Can Be Charged w/COMPLICITY in War Crimes: 18USC §2441 & GENOCIDE: 18USC §1091 + "I was following orders" is NO excuse! + There is No Statute of Limitations. ''If genocide is the crime of all crimes, then the Houthis are the heroes of all heroes.... The biggest insult to the memory of the holocaust is not denying it but using it as an excuse to justify the genocide of the Palestinian people." Professor Norman Finkelstein (born in 1953). His parents were Jewish Holocaust survivors.

Shaw is slimy, he gives me the creeps. It is like all my internal alarms go off, not just when he speaks but even looking at him. I am sure my dog would growl if he walked into the room, lol

To say that what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians is not genocide is like calling Mass murder, Universal life reallocation.
@julianmallach3487 ай бұрын
No, its just realizing the truth. There is no genocide. There is a democratic country which has been attacked by terrorists for over 75 years defending itself.
