I’m 71; studying international relations for 50 years, but I’m still learning it from Professor Norman Finkelstein. “American democracy is not the people’s democracy; it’s the democracy of money, donations, lobbies, and elites”, argued Professor Norman. Agreed.

In my humble opinion, Trump is not America's Austrian; it is merely that, according to both candidates' corporate overlords, genocide is currently more profitable over peace in West Asia. Trump is not subverting a functioning democratic system, but the system itself was hijacked by corporate interests long ago and is currently functioning as intended.

I disagree. Both established parties are feeling more threatened and more corrupt. The supreme court likes the pro right echo chamber. Its a court that's appointed and not elected so the process isn't democratic .They are considered far right and some laws are hypocritical when they are anti abortionists but people can't afford to have children ss much. Its even more exacerbated that wars and a unstable fiscal government causes less trust with people's view of our government.

Anyone that says Joe Biden didn't nominate Kamala Harris out of spite (as Norman Finkelstein essentially says) is out of their mind. I never took it as far as Biden wanting/knowing that she would lose though he clearly chose her because he wanted to give a huge 'FU' to the Democratic Party. It was some insanely childish, vengeful stuff.
