Nothing against Lemmo. He's a great guitar player, but I like when Brandon presents guitars, because he goes into depth about the features, and talks about the history of how companies assembled these guitars. Kinda reminds me of Mark Agnesi hosting. Beautiful guitar!
@mcmdrpiffle447
@mcmdrpiffle447 2 жыл бұрын
Hell, I liked Mark Agnesi most of all. Always had a recognizable song instead of the 'muted jazz fumblings, of (fill in the blank) Recognizable as something you could compare your own playing against. Lemmo is good, occasionally opens up, but when stressed, returns to his Jazz routines from music school, which all sound too similar. A lot of us want to compare music we've heard, with the guitar being presented. Not some own original piece with which we've no experience. Just sayin' Love the Channel, Love everyone on it. Always subscribed. Cheers !

@@mcmdrpiffle447 part of the problem of playing something recognizable now vs when Agnesi worked here are copyright strikes. KZbin has really made it difficult for any cover of a tune to get traction and not have all the $$ go to someone else

If I say Lemmo just doesn’t care that much about the guitars, it’s not a slight. Lemmo obv. cares a lot about music and technique. He can do what he does with a Squire… All of us probably have a memory of the first time we heard Lemmo play…the way he does. He’s an extraordinary player, he just doesn’t care very much about the guitars. Mark was the opposite. There is reason to miss Mark.

The S1 switch on the early 2000 models, usually puts the pickups together in series like a humbucker (in positions 1 & 5). Instead of in parallel like the standard 2 and 4 positions. Hence the volume and more mid “boost” sound.

Brandon's presentation skills are top notch, they can't be beat, and it's always a pleasure to learn the detailed specs of the guitars he presents which might be overlooked by other presenters. And he has tarantula fingers (positive comment) maneuvering around the fretboard, with great playing. I hope Brandon continues to get to present whether Lemmo is back or not.

I have this exact same guitar, sans plastic coating on the pickguard, which I'm kicking myself for removing. I bought mine in 2004 and it came with a 50th-anniversary hardcover book (The Stratocaster Chronicles) which incorporated a cd featuring many famous Strat players inside the back cover. It also came with a 50th-anniversary commemorative guitar stool. I know these things haven't appreciated much since 2004 but I'm in no hurry to get rid of them. The tweed case still has all the candy, including a gorgeous strap and the 50-year embroidered badge, and is a thing of beauty. Edited to add: Insane improv skills Brandon. I can only dream of producing sounds like this. Excellent video.

I had one of these for awhile. The pickups were designed by Bill Lawrence and use samarium cobalt magnets. They put out a strong signal too. As you can hear they have their own sound, not particularly Stratty but maybe just the thing if you’re looking for the Strat look & feel but with fuller tones.

I love these guitars, I got mine new in 2004 and unlike many on here, i've used it as my main guitar all that time, so much so that I think it will need a re-fret soon, its been plecked once due to fret wear, but dont think there is enough meat left in them for another. I have a fair collection of guitars including Les Pauls, PRS 513, Telecasters and other Strats, but none of them play or sound as sweet as this baby

My 2012 Deluxe is my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned. So much so that I bought it back from GC after having sellers remorse for $625 more than I sold it to them for. Tough lesson but still worth every penny. All strats are a little different and my 2012 is special.

Great playing, you guys! As for the Noiseless pickups, I have a 1998 American Deluxe Tele with them. ‘98 was also the one year that model was built with three pickups, Tele bridge and neck with a Strat pickup in the middle. My favorite setup! And the serial number for dating (post-‘77) is useful as far as that goes, but it’s not always consistent. I used to have a Strat Plus, bought new in 1987, the year the model came out-I bought the first one I saw-but it had an E4 serial number. Using up decals, I guess, as the Strat Plus wasn’t available in 1984.

I have the same guitar (also absolutely pure mint unplayed, stickers, tags, unopened case candy) and it's even more pure factory mint because my strap is still wrapped with the original string, and the case latches still have on the transparent green film put on at the factory. Couple of things. The p/ups are Bill Lawrence SCN (Somarium Cobalt noiseless) and the single ply parchment scratch-plate has a 50th Anniversary laser etched motif. The description of the S1 switching in this vid isn't accurate because, the S1 switching system mixes series and parallel switching with different pick-ups as well as engaging a special capacitor

Jazz chops and Country links. Pickups give a more clean living sound but guitars are all about what pallette you find for your expression. It's not going to be Voodoo Chile through a 67 superbass but so much music is still more than harmonious to the more fender than fender sound. Sharp defined punchy it is a blues/pop/jazzmachine stick the s1 on and the sound pokes forward in the mids more. Players previously often used a tube screamer in the same way a mid centred highlight, push forward. They worked best on amps on that break up of overdrive. Fender kind of made an equivalent for clean as well. Tube Screamers were the secret sauce for so many players fenders especially but gibsons and others benefited in a different sonic shaping.. 'SONG OF REASON' On my new album see channel (CHECK updated GUIDES) I almost forgot brilliant Brandon and Graham.regards to Norm.
