Goldeneye is a chaotic pattern sequencer for the Monome Norns. It allows you to very quickly create rhythmical sequences from the onboard samples, and is one of my favourite scripts on Norns so far.
This is part of a mini series looking at different apps you can download and run with Norns. Here I am using MIDIGrid to utilise a LaunchPad Pro X, and also using a Norns Shield.
You can find more about Goldeneye here: llllllll.co/t/...
-- I post all of the music I make, including WAV stems; sample packs; Dirtywave M8 song bundles; collections of video textures; early access to videos; and a whole pile of other stuff on Patreon. I know I know, I hate doing this as well, but if you like what I do and want to get more of it, while also helping me offset some of my ludicrous gear purchases, this is the best place to do it:

If you're in the market for new gear, my favourite place to find new and interesting synthesizers and other electronic music gear is Signal Sounds. They are based in Glasgow, but ship all over the place and often have stuff nobody else does. Find them at www.signalsoun...
If you're in the US and shop at Perfect Circuit, you can click through to see what they have in stock just now through my custom link. I get a small commission for any purchases made, which keeps me stocked up with whisky and beard oil. link.perfectci...

@allmyfriendsaresynths yeah. I was thinking of their album ‘Thunder Perfect Mind’. Not for the faint of heart lol. Sure to piss most people off in the first couple minutes. It’s almost an hour long. 2 tracks. ‘Cold’ and ‘Colder Still’. There’s one second that will totally freak your dogs out.

Hey Stephen… I’ve got the Norns shield… and have had it a month… I’m a complete technophobe when it comes to computers… is there any tutorial that will show me step by step how to connect it to put more scripts on? 🤦‍♂️

Hey! Sorry for the delayed reply. I have to say that Norns is not the easiest to use if you are a technophobe. It relies on a bit of understanding of that side. I am not aware of a video tutorial that does that unfortunately... the Monome/Lines forum was very helpful for me in figuring that out though!

Making products with open-source software and putting it behind a pay wall doesn’t seem right. Especially when a community like lines is built around sharing.
@StephenMcLeod

That's part of open source. It allows companies and individuals to make a business but also share the knowledge for others. Similar to WordPress, or Mutable Instruments, etc.

@@StephenMcLeod good point. but I imagine most of the people making scripts aren’t making business from? They’re giving them out for free. I’m not shitting on what you do - just think it’s interesting. I guess people who make stuff and put into the world are giving permission for it to be used by others however they like - including using the stuff to make money.

@@second-ratemachine It's no skin off my nose. It's not my business after all! The idea behind open source though is that businesses don't keep their IP to themselves, so they create a platform which anybody can then modify, contribute to, or monetise. In communities many folks won't charge - e.g. for scripts or plugins - but like you noted, others can and will. Some will build custom controllers etc. That kind of open architecture imo is much better than a completely closed off environment where bugs end up never fixed (see: Akai Force, Polyend Play+, etc...).

Thi sis super interesting, great video and thanks for sharing! can you assign midi notes to the pads instead of using the internal samples? SO that you can use with a harware instrument via usb/din adapter? Would love to play around with this and old akai for example!
