Man I've been watching all your overland videos of recent and stumbled onto your climbing videos researching the local peaks while staying in Bend this week. Pretty incredible climbs you did here. I did take the family over to the miller creek area and got up into some nice snow with the truck. Kids enjoyed some backcountry sledding. Absolutely beautiful. Seeing the remnants of the Hash Rock Fire of 2000 is kind of sobering too. Love your channel Jason you truly have the gift of inspiration!

This is a very inspiring moment. Thank you for sharing. I can see you are well proud of it and boy you should be! It was probably not easy to put yourself out there alone lacking the experience and confidence in your gear. It's awesome to see you putting yourself way out of your comfort zone. Keep doing what you do and sharing it please. =)

Sick vid! Im super impressed. I was scared just watching. Looked steep, thats usually hard to tell from the camera perspective. Cant believe you did that solo. Took some guts. Much respect and glad you're still with us. Keep up the vids. Quality stuff.

Doug Crowder I am glad you liked it. It was quite an achievement for me and I would like to do it again but I will not do it again alone, that wasn't very smart of me and to be honest I did not truly understand what I was getting myself into and at one point I thought of turning around but pride and stupidly, lol pushed me forward. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Jason

Great video and a great effort. I had watched your South Sisters video multiple times last year before I did that hike. I am planning to do Middle Sisters this year and your video (though there is not much of MS) is inspiring again. :)

Raja S I should have showed more of Middle Sister but its not that bad of a climb. Having some crap ons is good idea it will make hiking the glacier a lot easier. I plan to do this mountain again this year so maybe I can get a better video of it. Jason

I gotta say to climb these two mountains that you have never climbed before in the same day takes a lot of mental fortitude but you did it my friend and it damn sure looked scary as hell to me! 👍👍🇺🇸 I have to leave n.y.c.

Haha, you watched it. I did climb them alone, I have done a few of the mountains in Oregon this way, this one was the scariest, but there were a few others that gave me good pucker (Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack and Mt Washington). Jason

Well, first off, very cool and well done... Impressive. But, I can't believe you would attempt that alone? Sorry, maybe the military in me, or search and rescue and the things I have seen, not good. I would have to say, You have a brass set brother, never using an ice axe or crampons, damn... Hell, I had to do a dry run before I hiked out with snowshoes over my first small summit... Damn brother, I don't know where you are hunting, but sounds extreme.... Great job!!!
@PrimalOutdoors

I would have loved to have someone a long and it really wasn't smart to do it alone but if I waited on someone to go with me when ever I want to do something then I would never get to do anything. When I came to the snow patch I had to cross there was a small section right at the beginning that I got on first to try the ice axe and crampons before I committed to going all the way across. I just like to be as fit as I can my elk hunting spots are not that extreme, lol. Thanks for watching, Todd. Jason

Nice work man. I'm headed out that way next August for a backpacking trip, and you vid motivates me. I'd love to bag one of the peaks as well, but don't have a ton of extra time. Would you say Middle is the easiest of all 3? Also, are there maintained trails going up, or were you just looking for the best path?

Looks like you took the ridgeline next to the hayden glacier up. could have saved a lot of time and effort sticking to the SE ridge proper of North from your high camp (if you took the soap creek user trail straight west up to the base of North below the thayer glacier moraine lake.
@fiskerzwiz

additionally how is helmet not required gear? also the North horn is the true summit of North, it is higher. Did you take the bowling alley up.. it kinda looks like you didn't. that's a lot less risk at the end after the traverse.

Wow...that is a workout just doing one let alone 2 and all 3 in a week brother...Nice job...How is the air up there? Different on all 3 or about the same?
@PrimalOutdoors
@PrimalOutdoors 10 жыл бұрын
The air is thinner but I don't seem to notice too much but I live at 2800 ft so I somewhat accustomed to high altitude. Each mountain was somewhat different South and Middle you can pretty much hike up but North was much tougher and like you saw in the video you need a ice axe and crampons and it requires some climbing.
@TalonsTavern
@TalonsTavern 10 жыл бұрын
Amazing stuff man really enjoyed.. Was their points where you had to totally rely on your ice axe for climbing??
@PrimalOutdoors
@PrimalOutdoors 10 жыл бұрын
Talon Its hard to tell but the part where I was on the snow was just shy of being vertical and I was relying on my ice axe and crampons to get me across. I really should of had a rope because I ain't kidding it would have been all over if I would have slipped. Jason

Pretty awesome. Some of that exposure looks pretty hairy. glad you made it back safe. how did your minimalist boot system work out? It seems it would have it's good and bad points in that terrain.
@PrimalOutdoors
@PrimalOutdoors 10 жыл бұрын
The boots were awesome the only point where a boot with a stiffer sole would have been better is when I was traversing the snow wall I had to kick the snow with my toes to get a foot hold and it was hurting my toes other than that I wouldn't want any other boot. There definitely were some spots that had me puckering for sure. Jason
@4570levergun

Nice. That is definitely a challenge. Did you wear crampons on your mini mils? Ive always been more into complex routes rather than peaks but I see the draw of peak bagging. Keep up the good work.
@PrimalOutdoors
@PrimalOutdoors 10 жыл бұрын
4570levergun I did wear my Mini-Mils with the crampons which worked fine except when I was trying to kick foot holds into the snow that was painful on the toes. I have never really been into the peak bagging either its just something that is growing on me, especially for fitness reasons. Thanks for watching. Jason

How hard were these ones compared to the South Sister?
@PrimalOutdoors
@PrimalOutdoors 9 жыл бұрын
+Mink Ju Middle is comparable to South in my opinion though I do recommend you have a pair of crampons for walking on the glacier, North is nothing like South you will want climbing experience, crampons, and rope and harness. North is no joke and is very capable of killing you. Jason

+matanuska high North is no joke but I am confident that I was on the summit of that mountain the difference between where I was standing and that rock was pretty inconsequential, safety would not have been concern at that point I would pretty much only would have had to walk over to it, but I suppose if you want to nit pick it may have been a foot or two higher :) Jason
