North and South came out in 1985-86. Dirty Dancing was out in 1987. Then Road House, Ghost, and then Point Break. I imagine his salary was just too much for Heaven and Hell by 1994.

They were murdered by Bent.

In the book, Orry is killed by a Union soldier right at the end of the war. Constance was killed by Bent by slitting her throat.

I'm not sure why Book 3 was even made, given how different it is from the book. There was clearly no plan for this one, given Cooper appearing out of nowhere, for one thing. Production values are way beneath the standard of the previous two. Cameras, lighting, sound...all on the cheap.

Agreed. I finally decided to watch Book 3 and what a disappointment to say the least. The main characters George, Madeleine, and Bent all seemed off, or not fully invested, as if they were in a school play. Overall this installment just wasn't engaging and didn't have the same quality as Books 1 and 2. Seemed like this was thrown together to make a buck.

I totally agree! Without Patrick Swayze, there’s no story. Also, Bent coming back from the dead is ridiculous! Thirdly, George with Madeline is gross.

So, Bent didn't die in book 2, as we find in book 3, (and, FYI, I'm talking about the actual books, not this...). George n Madeline do end up marrying...but in the very last chapter of the book. And it stemmed from a Hazard/Main reunion when Charles son Gus was a teenager as well, as Billy's oldest son,.and Charles n Billy talk about sending them to West Point. Bent did kill Constance and kidnapped Charles son Gus, who was 4 at the time. But only Charles and some peeps of his found Gus and killed Bent. Bent was also l Iike extremely fat and smelly in the books, not like the good looking Bent in the movie. And Orry died in book 2, from a dying Yankee after a battle. And they didn't have any kids.

Bent murdered them. In the books Orry actually died in the war, but Bent did kill Constance to get revenge on George since Orry was already dead.

The killing of orry and constance also ruined it for me, the flirst two books were so good as the entire thing was made of the friendship between george and orry The only reason to even watch the book 3 is to see if Bent gets his just deserve. After seeing how they screwed up book 3 Im glad I didnt purchase it .

Well in the book Orry died during the war when he was ambushed by a union soldier that he was trying to help.
