6E44 is the return bitumen (empties) train to Haverton Colas from Preston Docks
It has returned this week after a lay off partly due to track relaying at Ribble Steam Railway through which the tankers must pass to access the Lanfina Total Bitumen site.
One of my favourite locomotives, the class 70, 70817
is seen leaving the docks where it crosses Strand Road, takes a tunnel under and behind Fishergate Hill appearing, up a steep incline to the South of Preston Station, where it briefly joins the west coast mainline before taking an overpass towards Blackburn and eventually the Total site in the North East.
