Funniest scene in one of the all-time greatest movies. Cary Grand gets drunk and speaks geeberish in a police station.

I love how he climbs on the table with his butt towards the screen. The whole police station scene as brilliant!

Thumbs up. And notice the position of both his hands when the good doctor asks him *HOW MUCH would you say that you drank ?* That much.

Well, he did say “Hello, Mother?”, earlier, too.
@12classics394 ай бұрын
@@chrisfinch8637 that’s my point. He constantly addresses her as “mother” while he’s talking to her, so him saying “that was mother” to the policeman after hanging up was totally superfluous.

John Berandino as Emile Klinger, played Dr. Steve Hardy on ABC's General Hospital, for 33 years, until his passing in 1996.

Great movie, this really is the 1st floor interior of the old Glen Cove police station. I used to go into it with a friend who's father was a detective. The lieutenant in this scene is Paul Gange, the shotgun wielding hit man in "Bullitt".

Very nice town (and cool name too). But of course it doesn’t have the rocky cliffs along the shoreline that this movie portrayed, correct. And isn’t that mansion well known on Long Island, though not in Glen Cove (?). Several examples of artistic license in this movie but they’re all acceptable to me since they make the story enjoyable.

Oh yeah. I haven't been that drunk in 30 years but Cary nails it. Hitchcock left out the puking the next morning scene.

I'm German, this is the first time I see the original version of this scene. In the German version of this scene the lieutenant's first name isn't Emile but Orpheus. Probably to make it sound weird so that Grant's reaction makes sense.

Like I said, I would have sobered right up, drove back to that house, either burned it to the ground or started attacking the Mason character and his goons. I just would have opened fire. Why waste time. Or hit them at the auction. I would be been enraged.

He did, he took the cops and "mother" right back there. Mason and Landau were gone and he looked like a drunken idiot. Then to the Plaza with "mother" to find out who Kaplan was. He talks to the actual owner of the house in Clen Cove at the UN and.....que the Bernard Hermann music
