Did the same walk but in reverse about 13 years ago, absolute killer on the knees up and down the path but well worth it for the views. Thanks for the memories.

Great video - gentle and unhurried - stunningly beautiful. Was in Port Isaac a few weeks back but we didn't manage a walk this time. Met Bert Large/Ian McNiece - lovely chap. Thanks for posting - superb.

John, I'm watching this during my lunch break in Kansas! You've given me a nice little "vacation" today, and I wanted to thank you. We have watched almost all of your walks, and they really helped us planning our trip to the Dales and Moors in March 2014. Cornwall remains on our "list" for future trips. Thanks for your great service to travelers, and I'm sure you must enjoy re-living the trips on cold winter days. - Alisa

Thank you Brittany. How lucky can you get to film the two characters out of Doc Martin we didn't know that they would be filming. We have been filming as many walks as we can while the weather is hot and sunny so there are plenty more to come. Keep and eye open for Bibury and Castle Combe in the Cotswolds two of the most beautiful villages in England. We just need time to get these edited now, all the best The Taxi Driver

thanks Taxi driver! I discovered Doc Martin programme recently and your video makes me want to visit North Cornwall - next time I am in the UK it will be on my to-do list.

Thanks Kurtis we were very lucky to see them filming Doc Martin in Port Isaac. The scenery was outstanding as we left Port Quin. All the best The Taxi Driver.

You're very welcome. I live in Western Canada, but I wouldn't mind living in Port Isaac. It looks like a very laid back, relaxing place, and definitely has outstanding scenery. I've never been to the U.K., but what I see in videos, it looks like a very nice country especially the countryside. Please let me know, when you have any new videos. Thanks. Cheerio :-)

Hi Diane, thank you. We live in Yorkshire so to travel 400 mile down to Port Isaac and be lucky enough to see them filming was just incredible. The village was jam packed but all of a sudden a shout goes up "we will be filming for 20 minutes can everyone stand back please" so everybody makes a space and you watch the actors go through their scenes just a few feet in front of you, its was like a giant open air theatre. To be able to get the actors on our video in the middle of our walk was just something special. We hope you keep watching. All the best The Taxi Driver

Wow, how fortunate that you were there during the filming. It must’ve been a thrill, and it was thrilling for us too! I live in Austin, Texas. We don’t have scenery here like I experience when we go on our English walks together. Our walks mean a lot to me, thank you!

Just lovely. I watch older Doc Martin episodes on Hulu--waiting for the newer ones. No tv for me, it's all Internet. Thanks again for a beautiful walk.

Hi Stephen, thank you. By starting the walk from Port Quin although it is only a tiny village it was easier to park the car there and this enabled us to spend a couple of hours in Port Isaac. We could not believe our luck when they were actually filming for Doc Martin. Just a fabulous place and we hope to go back again. All the best The Taxi Driver

I enjoyed seeing the Doc Martin building. I really enjoyed that whole series - I was able to see it in online here in the U.S. I also enjoyed your walk. I think you have more walking paths in the U.K. than we have here. We do now have the rails to trails paths that were where the old train lines went through, but still not the walking paths. I see if I ever come over there, I will have to work up slowly in order to enjoy them.

Hi Gayle, we did not know at the time as we approached Port Isaac that they were actually filming Doc Martin. We were very lucky to film Burt and Mrs Tishell while they were having a lunch break in the middle of their filming. We were only 30 feet away. It is very nice to hear from you. Hi Toni, sounds like you love the place just like we do. We were really lucky to film some of the Doc Martin characters and we didn't know they were filming until we got there. We hope to get back down there to film some more walks as soon as we can. All the best The Taxi Driver

Well thetaxidriverj I can say I very much enjoyed that video and will be doing this walk with my wife in August. Your commentary has inspired us and I never thought of starting from Port Quin. What a good little circular it looks like! I think given we are going peak season we will be getting there before 9am for a parking spot and might do a little fishing (don't worry, I never catch owt but crabs). Lovely
@thetaxidriverj6 жыл бұрын
Hi Alister, starting the walk at Port Quin is a fantastic idea just for the car park alone, £2 honesty box. Before you start the walk take the time to read the history of Port Quin, the informations boards will tell of the great storm of 1698 when the entire fishing fleet was destroyed. None of the fishermen returned leaving 24 widows and their children who were forced to move to Port Isaac and again after the pilchard harvest failed the place was deserted, it was then known as the village of the dead. But today it is a beautiful tiny village and well worth the visit. The walk along the cliff edge is fabulous and as you make the approach to Port Isaac you can see the whole of the harbour down below. As you walk down into the village you will pass Doc Martin's house on the right hand side. We thought the best place for lunch was right in the harbour looking out to sea. We were very lucky to see the cast of Doc Martin being filmed. We know you will have a fabulous day all the best The Taxi Driver

Well taxi driver, my wife and I did this walk today. Cracking walk and given the ups and downs you wouldn't want it to be much longer. Great views, and we had lunch right there in the harbour too, it was fab. We took a slightly wrong turn coming back inland but not too far off course. Thanks for the video, I would never have done it if I hadn't seen it and my wife really wished I wasn't recounting the video at every turn. Great day we had today. So which one of your walks do I do next?

Port Quin is lovely with a very sad story behind it. One night all the men of the village went out in the fishing boats and were all lost in a storm!

Love the Cornish and Devon coast with these little villages and character , does anybody know elsewhere in the UK as good as this sort of places to visit. Been 3 times this year and my wife is beginning to hate me for bringing her to the same places, I on the other hand would do the trip weekly, better still , I would move there.

Thank you for that, I really enjoyed your filming and commentary. I'm in New Zealand and one of my grandfathers came from Yorkshire. He died before I was born - I wonder if his voice was anything like yours. I have been to Port Isaac, just for a couple of hours, I took the bus from Bodmin four years ago. That coastal walk looks similar to one or two where I live - but we don't have those picturesque villages.

Hi Pat. It's nice to hear from you in New Zealand and that one of your Grandfathers came from Yorkshire. The Yorkshire people once you get to know them are very warm and friendly and I would like to think that my accent wouldn't be to different from his. We are sure your Grandfather would be proud that you still think about him. All the best The Taxi Driver
@PatReesby8 жыл бұрын
I believe he came from a farming district near a village called Chapel-le-Dale, I've never been there but if I ever come to the UK again I will make an effort to do so. I still have a 78rpm record that must have been his. On one side is "A Yorkshire Lad in London" and the flip side is "She Can Make a Nice Cup of Tea"!

Hi Anne yes I am from Yorkshire. We make all the videos in our spare time, days off and holidays. My wife Janice map reads while I film and do the commentary never knowing what I am going to say. When we get back home Janice edits the film, does the write up and the photos. We agree with you about Lands End. We hope you continue to watch. Regards John and Janice (The Taxi Driver)
