This is exactly the kind of reviews I've been looking for. I love the footage of kite flying characteristics as well as the comparisons between kites. This clears up a lot of questions and shows me exactly what I want to see.

Neat video. The SB shows more stability with that front line pull test. That’s actually really good to show bc if you’re not great at looping after a jump you can land too far underneath your kite causing it to stall. The SB seems more beginner friendly in that regard

love your comparisons guys! Nice to learn about front line stability test. I think your website is unique as it is great to read other peoples impression on so many different kites. Thanks a lot and greetings from Scotland!

Good review. I tested on a 8 today and i can agree on the front stall issue. There was one moment that it fell over completely. And this was in 26-30 knots. It felt dangerous at top of the jumps. As you dont want it to overshoot. Very strange and scary. All though it jumps yes it does but a kite like this should not front stall like this.

Hi, great review, i ride switchblades & love them but always interested in what else is out there. Could you do a review on the new cabrinha bar vs north navigator? They seem to have many of the same features but the north lines sound great. Many thanks

Amazing review! Overall, which kite do you prefer to ride for TT boosting, hangtime and some loops?
@Kitefinder4 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin, the Cabrinha is the most easy one.The Orbit needs a bit more flying feeling skills. Loops, we liked the Orbit!

the best test of kites i have ever seen! Well done! Even i fly Fone this test is really great and helpful!
@frankyfrench52795 жыл бұрын
I would expect that the Orbit has a better highend and probably more easy to jump when overpowered and likes a bit more flying speed, a kite overflying you is more evident because it sits at the edge and a thinner profile. I prefer kites were the angle of attack can be changed by adjustment of the front Briddle at LE, this adjustment is often overseen, but small changes completely change the behaviour of the kite. You like a stable kite and a bit more constant pull for trying tricks, or a fully depower able sitting at the edgekite f.i.for use at Hydrofoil. So when testing kites it is important to try these settings too.

What can you say about the durability from the North Orbit?
@MennolAbeesports5 жыл бұрын
I used the orbit in my lessons once and the kite frontstalled 5 times in 2.5 hours. Not the best kite on 12 to teach waterstart.
@nicolaspuyet3 жыл бұрын
The orbit is definitely a bad kite. I demoed the kite twice and it was constantly backstalling in light wind, jumping is not easy and you don"t get that much hangtime. So what's the point taking a freeride kite if jumping isn't easy and you don't have hang time ?!
@W0pper19973 жыл бұрын
@@nicolaspuyet the orbit is a probably the best big air kite right now. Learn to heli loop and it won’t front stall. It has a smaller windrange and likes to be on the higher end as it has almost no side pull.
@TKM113705 жыл бұрын
I bet the kite has that overfly built in for the top end of kite to help pinch to the edge of the wind when you're using the 10 in 35 to 40 knots.
@TheKitergirl5 жыл бұрын
I am absolutely with you. I have the 7,9,12 Orbit and you can hold the kites without loosing the edge in very overpowered conditions.. thats so much fun and so comfortable ride. The Switchblade is more for beginners. The orbit is targeted to Intermediates till Experts and I don't think there is a lack of fine tuning, because if you will remove this, you have more lateral pull in the upper wind range. Tested the 9m from 20-40 knots and I didn't need to use the adjuster.
@vikingh30084 жыл бұрын
Christina Nehm nick jakobsen was definitely a beginner when he won KOTA on a switchblade, he is now almost as good as you Christina so switched to the orbit,

@@TheKitergirl hello There ! Do you use your 7m often ? IT good a 30 knots ?
@TheKitergirl4 жыл бұрын
@@p-mlefebvre4350 I use the 7m when it is 30+. The 9m is my Kite that I use the most when it is really gusty at my local spots, where it is normally 15-25 and gusting up to 30/35knots. After one year of riding the Orbits I can say, that the "Frontstall" they are talking about in this video, is something North built in, because with this you can hold the Orbit mich better in high winds than the Rebel for example, because there is no lateral pull. The Orbit goes really fast to the edge of the wind window. Thats really good for unhooking too, because you will have more slack in the lines. Kites like the Switchblade or Rebel are like trucks... The best: The stronger the wind, the better the Orbit will be. Thats so cool and I hope in 2021 they didn't change that so much, because I ordered the 2021 quiver of 7m and 9m Orbit.
@TheKitergirl4 жыл бұрын
@@vikingh3008 sorry, but if a beginner will ask me, to buy the Orbit or the Switchblade, I will recommend the Switchblad. It is easy ride, has much grunt, is slow turning, etc.. Sheet and go my friend. Ride the Orbit and then we can talk about which kite is better for beginners and for experts ;) The Orbit 2020 is not a beginner kite. The comparison is like a Flysurfer Soul vs Flysurfer Sonic.

Thank you so much for this nice review! I'm still a little bit unsure about the choice... 5 years ago I used to ride on switchblades, but found them a little bit slow, with not a really explosive boost/lift but good hangtime... I wanted something more playful and for that reason I moved to the north Vegas! but I lost a lot of the the hangtime I needed for my tricks... now I would like to solve that problem and I'm in between the switchblade (again) and the rebel... i've been riding for almost 20 years, I'm completely focused on oldschool tricks (board offs, one foots, rotations, transitions...etc). Could you help me with the choice please? thank you so much

Hi mortdigo, we understand your search. Blade kites had it’s own feel. Hard to say, testing would Be the best option. And like they say: If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably leads to nowhere

@@Kitefinder Ended up getting the 2023 Orbit in 9m, now that I see your comment maybe I'll test it myself. In any case I love this kite when wind gusts minimum 23 knots as it loops great, and I even used it in a storm with 35+ knots gusts (although it was pretty crazy). Low bar pressure really helps my arms last through longer sessions.

Hmm interesting, i've only just clocked this video. I think the center struts are probably about the same length if you have both center struts in a vertical position. If you swap the kites round it would look like the shorter one becomes longer. I think. FAB review!
