Maybe I misunderstood you. 5:25, "International law has been based on (...) writings of prominent professors". The way I learned and understand international law is that this can only be used to interpret law. The 3 main sources of international law are conventions, customary law and general principles of international law. Thank you for this video, especially the graphic at 3:35 helped me a lot :)

yes, i was also intrigued by this affirmation. the main sources of international law, as the international court of justice statute mentions in article 38, are: ”international conventions, international custom and the general principles of law recognised by civilised nations”. The ”judicial decisions the the teaching of the most highly qualified publicists of the various nations” are subsidiary means for the determination of rules of law. thank you very much for bringing this up, I am curious what the video's author meant by indicating the `writings of prominent professors" as "a base", because he doesn't say "international law source(s)".
