Brilliant 2 player game. The computer was too hard to beat though. It could control all the soldiers at once whereas you could only control one at a time

I hope this will get a second revival sometime in the future, this time on all consoles and mobile platforms, since the first revival is on PC and iOS. Unlike the PC and iOS version, the new revival will use 2D sprites from the Amiga version, but it will be more updated for recent platforms. It should be available also available on Steam, XBox Game Pass, and Android.

1:27 They got the music mixed up. It played Dixie when you clicked on the Union side and Yankee Doodle when you clicked on the Confederate side. 6:45 It played Dixie while the Union flag was being raised heh.

I've been afraid to play this game since I played it in '92 due to the ditty music being stuck in my head for 30 DARN YEARS and was worried it would renew it with vigour. Thankfully this video, with all the gameplay and sound effects combined seem to have dispelled that and I may well have been cured. Thankyou for that alone! I seem to remember the fort/train sequences were not quite that fast but I suppose reflexes were much faster at a young age.

Im no expert in American history, but havent the developers switched the themes of the two sides?? It sounds like "I wish I was in dixieland" when you choose the north (01:26). Dixie is the "naional anthem" of the south. And it sounds like "Yankee doodle" for the music on the south (01:42). The south wasnt yankees. But then again: I am not an expert 🙂

It gets rid of the arcade battle sequences - the game decides the outcome for you based on things like number of units remaining.
