Was just watching a video of Yancy county, where the guy was flashing between showing what the roads looked like back in April, and then today, and it was a stark reminder of how things had changed. Just getting the temporary roadways into some of the areas will help. I see by some comments people are questioning the skill level of the equipment operators. There's a world of difference between normal operations and 'in the field' so to speak. This is exactly how you get experience in abnormal circumstances. The work is being done, that's what matters. They'll get better at it.

People are complaining they aren't experts at helping, the same people complaining are also not doing anything to help. Hilarious

Pushing in loose stone is a lot harder than the loan pile they trained on. This will be an amazing learning experience for these operators. Glad to see the remediation taking place.

Update, 1st and foremost, thanks to all of our service members for their service. Additionally, in regards to my previous comment, 2 things can be true at the same time. It’s heart warming and uplifting to see Americans helping Americans in their time of need. And it’s understandable that people who’s could hit the ground running are frustrated because they aren’t able to contribute in a meaningful way when so much is at stake. God bless the victims of Helene.

I think of all the mistakes I made learning how to use our farm tractors, eventually I got the knack. Same with the chainsaws. Experience and making mistakes is how we learn. It’s nice to see the military response.

this is not the Army Corpse of Engineers folks. these guys may be school teachers or accountants or UPS drivers during the week. they are part time, RESERVE military so STFU with your snide comments and thank them for being there yes, they need more hours on the equipment. yes you could probably do it faster. but you aren't there sweating it out and they are, so stfu if you dont have anything nice to say

The guy running the big D10 definitely knows how to get it done, it's all tedious work especially running a rubber tire machine over boulders that'll send you over. Why bitch about the guys and gals working go grab a shovel and go help. Thank You NCNG

I know they need experience and they are trying, thank them for thier service, however their are people stranded they trying to get to so why not have a couple well seasoned operators working with them so they can learn by example rather than trial and error and speed up the rescue of everybody. When it comes to times of desasters throw the bureauracracy out the door and use ALL your resources meaning civilian and gov the most efficient way possible

You don't learn how to operate equip by watching. It may look like not much being done, but get a shovel and see how far you get in this terrain.

@jesstrueblood2317 2 ай бұрын
@JamesBall-w1t I've done plenty of shoveling and 50 year s of operating all kinds of equipment and learned more from watching and listening than any other way. I wasn't bashing the guard I was saying the bureauracrats need to better use sources available to them and internet it might help other sources be more efficient.
