Not really, West Germany had large armed forces during the Cold War (the military was founded in 1955). It was basically at the reunification in 1990 that the other countries (France, UK, USA and the Soviet Union) told Germany that it can’t have a large military (the maximum number of allowed soldiers is 370.000, back then West Germany had half a million active soldiers and in the case of a mobilization a planned combat strength of 1.3 million) and now they’re (of course apart from Russia) complaining that Germany has no powerful military 😂
