people here judging her just because she said she loves herself first. This doesnt mean she is going to prefer doing her nails or hair rather than taking her kids to the hospital. She is talking about self love. I agree one must love oneself first. Kids sense when their mother is unhappy. extremely selfless mothers also make their children unhappy. One must have a balance. I don't know her personally and I don't know her kids. But all those judging, Do you stop taking care of yourself because you had kids? Obviously no. You keep a good lifestyle you keep on doing your makeup, you learn to love your body with all the changes that came with bearibg children, all those scars, hyperpigmentation and other things... you may even take a new diet or a new workout routine. Mothers should feel good with themselves in order to raise good children. You may not dye your hair neon colors and you may keep telling to yourself that your kids come first but the truth is... it is all a balance.

Yes! Self love and self care is important. You need to take care of yourself and feel confident in yourself so that you can give your best self to those in your life. I know I'm a mom and I go without sometimes so my daughter doesnt have to. It is really sad seeing so many people who are quick to judge her because she puts herself first without understanding what she means by her statement. It doesn't make her a bad mom. My own mother sacrificed a lot for my brother and I and yet she also took the time to care for herself. She was (and still is) the glamorous model that always inspired me and my brother to be ourselves, to be humble and to love each other as a family. To me and my brother she is the best mother in the world because she set the example that even though it is good to put others first, it was also important to put ourselves first as well in order to be there for others that we care for. It is really disappointing so see so many of you jumping to assumptions without considering that a little self-care is good. As many before me have stated, there is a line between self-care for the betterment of a person to be there for others and set positive examples for their children and full neglect and selfishness.

Wonderful hair coloring as usual. I have added to my bucket list to get my hair colored by Guy Tang. It is so true about loving yourself. When you don't love yourself you project that on to everyone around you. Of course you have to make sure that you are right before you do your children because how great of a parental figure would you be if you are negative all of the time or have tons of mental or physical health issues? It's not saying that you are more important than your children. It's saying that you understand what it takes to allow your child to grow up and blossom the way that they should. I am a mother of 3 as well and my children mean the world to me. My narcissistic grandmother has treated one of my children better than the others. You can really see a difference from that alone. The one that was treated better by her is always putting others down and will tell others that he hopes that they die. He is also not shy at all and will at times pull down his pants in front of others. The other two do well in school, they will do anything for anyone, they don't really talk about others, they are less aggressive, and they both will look more at the little things. It doesn't take 100's or 1,000's of dollars to impress them or make them happy. Also it's true that after you do something for you then you feel better about yourself. I always feel better after going to the salon.

I have dark brown hair and I have had red on the ends of my hair ( 3-4 inches up ) and had to bleach it before, if you bleach your hair at home make sure to let it get greasy and you can use coconut oil to prevent damage. I cutted it off ahah and grew my hair long again. Good luck, hope you get in shape. You can do anything :)

growing up my mom was such a hater. she would compare herself to other women, to bigger women and say "I'm not as fat as her right?". and any time we would watch TV she would just make comments, on people like Angelina Jolie and call her ugly "she has asshole lips". +Katarina Benitez oh, my mom used to be like that. Maybe my mom was a little easier to help, if you can I hope you get to help her because my mom had been like that for almost 10 years. She used to compare herself to girls in magazines, photoshopped and perfect looking girls. My mom also used to burst out in tears sometimes because she said she was tired of being overweight and asked me for tips for getting in shape and I tried to help her but when I took away her ice cream and asked if she wanted to go out ( just to help her walk more ) she refused to do it. She was against everything I planned to helping her, I told her that she is beautiful and she has always been and she doesn't need to go down in weight or do anything in order to love herself. I wrote up things I liked about her and hanged it on the mirror and also told her to write things about herself that was special and told her to show it off more. I don't think she ever has regretted doing that.

As a child of a mom who puts herself first, I think moms should put their kids first. my mom will take care of herself before taking care of us, which almost got me and my sister taken away from her. there is a difference between putting yourself before your kids and caring about your kids and yourself. I personally disagree with parts of what she said; "if you don't love yourself you can't love anybody else". That is (imo) not true. You are well capable of loving something without fully loving yourself. What she said implies that just because you don't love yourself you can't love your family, friends or partner. I have not loved myself all throughout puberty but was still able to be in a fully functional relationship with a partner and my family/friends. I agree that self-confidence is very vert important and that you »should« put yourself first, but it's hard and not everyone can do it.

I want guy tang to do my hair! i am a mom to 6 kids ages 2-12. I've never used permanent color in my hair only the washouts. And its been year's since I've even done that. Honestly my husband and myself ,we put our kids first and that doesn't make me insecure or ugly. My priorities are just different and thats ok. i really don't worry about what others are doing cause its not my business and i don't need the extra stress or drama lol. i donate my hair to wigs for kids every few years too. My hair grows so fast, i cut 22 inches 2 years ago and its grown back and then so. Love Guy Tang and his work is beautiful!

While I agree that dying your hair and shit does not make you special, that is not why I personally do it. I just hate the boring fucking colors that we get naturally when it comes to hair. I've heard the whole "you need to love yourself before you can love someone else" quote before and it personally made me feel like the love I have for others is somehow invalid and that because I cannot love myself that I don't deserve to try and love anyone else. I know exactly what she is trying to say and I don't see it as that. Some people may see it in a more negative light, I chose not to and I am pretty sure the "maker" of the quote did not either. The "deserve" part is something you added to the quote because its clearly not there. Let me tell you how I see it: You can absolutely love someone, even though you do not feel love for yourself. But not loving yourself and what you are will also effect the way you feel about others and act towards others. The fact that you do not love yourself is always going to be in the way in one way or another in a relationship for you or the other person. When you feel good about yourself those are the times usually your relationship towards loved ones are at it best. Its also a factor that the "deserve" part usually turns up when you do not like/love yourself. You do not feel you deserve anything at these times (or I do anyway).

If you are confident and not so anxious you will be able to go above and beyond for your children "and they will survive in the jungle" If you are insecure always worried about everyone else you will be too distracted to "save your children from the hungry wild tiger" Self sacrificing yourself for your children will not make you a good mother it will make your children motherless. She is very right. As a Christian I always believed in loving others first! Thing about it was that I hadn't learned to love myself, tbh I hadn't learned love at all until encountering it through my relationship with God. When He revealed this truth to me, it was ground breaking. You can't love anyone if you have never been shown love and haven't received it for yourself first ☝🏾️. You can't take care of anyone until you are properly taken care of..and if you choose try, you won't give your best! It is not selfishness, it basic wisdom. If two people are stuck in a ditch, they are not going to strive to get the other person out first, they will first figure out a way to get out, then help the other person out as well. Don't be a blind person leading another blind person into a ditch. Learn about who you are in Christ, be established in that, know that you are loved and precious! That way you will know the same for others and treat them as such. You can't love if you don't love you. ✌🏾
