Hi John another great video to watch. Nice to see you using bigger hooks and with that try put more bait on it , I put up to 5 maggots on that hook size or up to 3 pieces of worm. My way of thinking is if I only have 2 maggots on the hook sometimes they're able to steel the maggots off but if i have more on I have a better chance of hooking. I'm only 5 ft 3" and I have small hands, I cannot put maggots on a 18 or 20 sized hook, it drives me mad trying so I decided to make it easy for myself and sized up to a size 10 - 14, no smaller and I still catch nice size fish. I'm sure you've seen videos where they say hook lengths should be 80 - 100cms or more . Well I say bollocks to that because I generally have 30 cm or 50cm max . Personally I don't understand the thinking behind that because surely you'd want your bait closer to your ground bait to be found by the fish. There's only about 5 peoples videos I tend to watch about coarse fishing, yours because I enjoy them, Jammie Harrison who is a professional. and Steve ringer who is my teacher for fishing and an older man from totally awesome fishing Graeme Pullen who is great for tips and how to make your own fishing gear ( free or very cheap he's funny as well.) Look I'm no match angler I just do it for fun but if certain things work for me then I don't care what other people say or think. Since I have been watching all these videos I have learn't so mush it's unreal. So as soon as I find work and have a bit of money behind me I want to do some matches and see how I do .? John are you on FBOOK or on whatsapp I would like to send you some photos of the next time I go fishing. Tack care mate.

You know it's the same here John when the water level rises after heavy rain the fishing just ain't the same. good try mate.

That match seems like a lifetime ago now, but yes, those conditions weren't favourable - horrible 'ling' colour in it (that's an old fashioned term for peat) - it comes down from the hills and it's acidic - it switches the fish right off.

@@Yorkie83 you will I'm sure, just remember the tips. Don't bother moving. Feed two lines max in that time frame. Out a few feeder loads on close line then go out and fish longer line for 1/2hr or so, if nothing come inside do same, if nothing go back out on long line, hope that helps.

great filming.. i really feel im fishing it with ya..... an bein a 'proper' armchair expert... aw why dont you try this or that etc.... lol.... maybee try a stinky bait like meat or corn for that lonesome lunking old bream thats in your peg on edge of groundbait... worth a few chucks..... i used to try and avoid the 'oh the river is rising/coloured etc its going to fish bad' . . and fish a different method to prove them wrong etc..... suprising what happens too....

Lol, love an armchair expert. Glad you feel like you're there though, I do try to do that and condensing 5hrs under an hour isn't easy to still give you a feel for what I've done. I'll definitely have to try the stinky old bait next time but the Ouse is definitely moody when the Ling colour is in, fishes much better 'chocolate brown' for bream. 🎣

@@HOOKEDFishingChannel it's all about learning maybe if you could start again you might have done something different we all second guess ourselves you only learn from mistakes. One last point big matches like fish o mania what about the person who finishes last does that make him a bad angler, cause it don't he's probably qualified catching 200lb of fish at Barton or the glebe etc just stay positive .stay safe son

That's true, we can't always draw well, I've fished alongside many a top angler and they all have bad days, they just enter more matches and eventually the law of averages dictates they'll win a couple. I have every confidence in my own ability, that will never change and yes I'm always open to learning something new. Perfection is the unobtainable goal 😉

Whatever happened to just enjoying fishing? You are making it far to technical with clocking every cast? Watch some of the Clive Branson video's (old school).
@HOOKEDFishingChannel4 жыл бұрын
I fish how I fish bud. The clock helps when I'm waiting a long time for bites, it's easy to leave it way too long and lose track of time. I don't stick religiously to it it's just a guide. If I'm catching well the clock goes out of the window.

Shocker bud. A horrible colour in the river and a poor draw. I reckon the one I lost would have seen me qualify but hey ho I might get the chance of a ticket elsewhere 🤞
